Bath & Body Works P.S. I Love You ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 14 August 2009 37 Comments

Bath & Body Works PS I Love You fragranceBath & Body Works will launch P.S. I Love You, the latest addition to their signature line, at the end of August.

A contemporary take on the eternal symbol of love: the rose. Inspired by the perfect love between two people, P.S. I Love You encapsulates the giddy excitement and shared secrets of timeless love. A timeless yet refreshingly modern take on the classic bloom, P.S. I Love You reinterprets the rose with an exotic blend of alluring ingredients, creating a modern fragrance that exudes addictive femininity.

P.S. I Love You was developed by perfumer David Apel, and features notes of citrus, lychee, peony, yellow rose accord, riesling vitessence, scarlet velvet rose, orchid, purple lilies, jasmine, incense, creamy sandalwood, patchouli, golden amber and musk.

Bath & Body Works P.S. I Love You will be available in Eau de Toilette ($26.50, shown above), limited edition Eau de Parfum (price unknown, in a bottle based on an antique inkwell) and in matching bath and body products. I will update with sizes when I can find them. (via press release)

Update: P.S. I Love You is available in 75 ml Eau de Toilette and 235 ml Fragrance Mist.

Another update: see a review of Bath & Body Works P.S. I Love You.

LOL…I was thinking this was better ad copy than usual. It all depends on perspective.

I’ll definitely try this because I love most things rose….but I’m a little worried that the fragrance “….exudes addictive femininity”. What DOES that mean???….if I smell this will I become addicted to “femininity”? Hmmmmm…..

The only thing interesting here, to me, is the LE bottle.

The one shown, I think, is the regular one. I saw a picture of the LE one a couple weeks ago (sorry I don’t remember where) and decided I liked this one better. Nice that they’re doing special bottles though!

So not particularly well done, then? Shame… but I guess that leaves the door open for someone to do a better job w/the bottle concept for hopefully a more appealing scent. 🙂

No, I wouldn’t say that, esp. just based on the picture. I just like the one shown!

The P.S. part amuses me, like it’s an afterthought. “Please clean up your d$@m dishes. P.S. I love you.” That’s the sort of timeless note I might leave….

PS I Love You sounds like a title for a Korean television drama

Ha! “P.S. I Love You” is the title of the Hilary Swank movie that was based on the Korean movie “The Letter.”

Not to mention a very early Beatles song!

I thought of that Beatles song right away, but thought that BBW couldn’t possibly be referencing it– that would be skewing too old for them.

My dad was a fan of the Beatles when they first came to the US.
Since he was a teenager at the time, anyone younger than 60 would be too young to remember them and therefore can not be a fan.

I’m definitely not a fan, anyone who complains about ~*kids today and their “music”*~ need to sentenced to 12 straight hours of “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” videos that include the screaming/crying fangirls.

I think the bottle is prettier than other BBW collection.
I have to smell it to know if I like it or not.

The “riesling vitessence” was what stuck out for me. Wonder if it is the vital essence of the wine or the grape?

I tried the body lotion sample of this fragrance a couple of weeks ago, and it was really impressive for BB&W. Not as fruity floral as most of their fragrances, and you can definitely smell both the rose and the incense. Not sure how the EDT/parfum will smell, but I’m hoping pretty good, based on the lotion.

Rose… wish they would have chosen something else. Like Iris.
I don’t feel roses represent love to all people. But it is common for the brand to push out the same scents over and over.

I love iris, but love rose too. No complaints here, but of course I haven’t smelled it yet.

actually, bbw doesn’t have a Signature rose fragrance…so, it’s not like they’re just churning and burning the same ol’ same ol’ — this is definitely new and exciting territory!

I tried the travel size lotion. It’s not nearly as abrasive as some of their other florals, it’s a bit more subtle and the amber background is nice. That said, I really loathe rose on me. Somehow all rose based fragrances make me smell like a sweet little old lady, not quite the effect I’m after.

It might be worth checking out because it says yellow rose, instead of red, and from what I’ve smelt of real roses the yellow has a more vibrant scent than the red.

Doubt there is any “real” yellow rose in there, but who knows.

Anyone remember Morning Mist from a couple of years back? I mean, like lat 90’s? I swear they just recolored and repackaged the same scent.
