Laura Mercier Minuit Enchante ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 9 August 2009 39 Comments

Laura Mercier Minuit EnchanteLaura Mercier has launched Minuit Enchanté, a new limited edition fragrance for women:

Laura Mercier Minuit Enchanté Parfum, developed as a flanker to the original Nuit Enchantées Eau de Parfum, evokes the deepest moment of night with deep incense and rare wood accords. Minuit Enchanté is a deeper, darker, more mysterious and more concentrated fragrance than the original Nuit Enchantées.

The highly concentrated fragrance takes you on a journey to a vintage perfumery where all of the fragrance notes seamlessly blend with one another, creating an absolute jewel of the finest, purest and most luxurious ingredients. Immediately top notes of juniper, mace, ginger, clove buds and pimento berry arouse the senses, followed by middle notes of tuberose, rose absolue, jasmine absolue and peach nectar. Minuit Enchanté dries down into bottom notes of pure vanilla absolue, musks, labdanum oil, benzoin resin, amber, myrrh, exotic guaiacwood, cedarwood, sandalwood and agarwood accord.

Laura Mercier Minuit Enchanté is available now at Nordstrom in 50 ml Parfum, $90. (via nordstrom)

Hmmm…. the notes don’t sound all that different from the original N.E. Still worth a sniff, though!

No, but since I never tried the 1st one, I’ll see if I can’t give this one a sniff. Pretty bottle!

Yup, sure sounds enchanting to me. A little heavy for August, but by the time I get around to sniffing it—-it’ll be November and it’ll be just right. Just one of those times when being really behind works in my favor. 😉

Man that’s some price for all those absolutes! Sounds really lovely, though. I’ll have to visit Nordstrom. What a hassle! ;3

Sounds right up my alley — for fall … can’t fathom it now since it’s 93 here today.

The original seemed uber-gourmand to me, but it will be interesting to sniff. Some flankers are quite different from their sources. I’m pleased to see that Ambre Passion is back – it was out of stock everywhere for a while, and I do love it, sweet though it is.

I wish I smelled the original, but never got around to it. I haven’t loved anything else from the brand so far.

I don’t care for the other, either, but the original NE had me addicted immediately. I really hope it’s true that the incense has been amped in this version, and I hope the mace is toned down a bit.

Wow – that does sound nice (although not in this weather). Maybe when I head back to Neiman’s to buy the Cristalle Eau Verte, I’ll stop by Nordies and try this.

This sounds really nice. I like some of the Laura Mercier cosmetics – good stuff. Never tried any of the fragrances though. I will be checking this out – fo sho.

My favorite item is the tinted moisturizer – it’s the best one i’ve tried.

I love, love, love their eyeshadows! They are highly pigmented, with varying degrees of matte/luster/shimmer. I prefer them to Bobbi Brown hands down because their selections are less confusing to look over. I reach for my LM eye palette daily. And their Eye Basics is a fab primer.

I so wanted to love the tinted moisturizer, but all the shades in my range turned orange on me. 🙁 I ended up giving a tube away.

I am very interested to try this one! The notes sound great for fall and even winter … like pretty much everyone else, it’s not something I’m itching to try in this weather!

One of my early perfume loves was Laura Mercier’s Eau de Lune, and I still remember how much I also liked the bottle. It’s no good for travel, but the really heavy lid in the oddly organic shape is somehow very satisfying.

I have last years version and have just sniffed this one – very similar. This is a shade drier and a shade less gourmand to my nose (no coffee note which I love). Lovely for autumn/winter (if you like gourmand scents).

I’ve never tried anything Mercier—but now I want to try those eyeshadows! And I love gourmandy fragrances….sounds like the original with a coffee note might even be better than this one!

I tried the original NE last year. I think I must be anosmic to a musk she uses b/c it was just a mess to my nose – I could pick out all the coffee and spices, but it was just a jumble. I didn’t care for it. If this one has toned down the coffee part, maybe it will work. Sounds like it’s sample worthy.

What a shame! If it’s the musk, you might have the same problem w/ this one.

Does anyone else ever wear fragrance extraits like these in hot and heavy weather? Sometimes, I like to dab on some of the heavier stuff in high heat, to feel like some sort of Fellini-esque voluptuary. However, I’d bet the astringent-woodsy basenotes (benzion, myrrh, guaiac–not excluding the clove and juniper upper notes) will probably ensure that “Minuit Enchante” not become too heavy and sensuous…

I put on a bit of Fracas on those summer nights where it just seems to work. It’s so heady and the tuberose so lush that it just begs for balmy weather now and then.

I sooo want to try this. I’ve never tried any Laura Mercier products, but both this parfum and the original sound delicious.

“Fracas” is the one scent that I cannot wear, under any circumstances. I don’t know what it is–and boy, have I’ve tried, time and time again, to make it work on my skin. It never does…and yet, it’s so beautiful and sexy on so many people. Go figure.
