I was just thinking to myself, “Why aren’t there any fragrance magazines, there’s every other kind of magazine?” Though most people probably won’t subscribe, since the content’s online for free. But still!

I’ve often wondered myself! Now we’ll have one.

I was really tempted until I saw that in addition to the subscription fee there is a $20 shipping charge… sigh.

Argh … I didn’t get that far. I was willing to cough up $24, but not $44.

      Must be HUGE.

Maybe it includes samples. Which would be awesome and not very likely.

I did not think $44 was that bad…I mean, it can’t be cheap to do a print magazine these days.

How much does it cost for a subscription to those 2-inch thick Vogue magazines that are 87% advertising? It might be fun to look at an issue of this just for the ads alone… but if all the content will be online, I won’t bother.

I’ve given up ordering magazines because often, after a quick leaf through, they’re put on the recycling pile OR just on a pile where they collect dust until I ultimately chuck them. I’m embarrassed to say sometimes they don’t even get a quick leaf-through.

But Vogue comes out every month! Of course, my only subscription to Vogue was a free one and I let it lapse when it was time to pay for it, so I’m not a big fan of magazines that are mostly advertising.

This could be the exception though – I guess it would depend on how many pages each issue of the magazine is. Aargh, I’m really tempted – I should just pull the trigger. I would imagine that part of the shipping cost issue is the fact that it has to be shipped overseas?

Oops, I missed that this is just quarterly. That might be better for me considering how poorly I do with monthlies. Hey, many of us were willing to pay $10-$12 for those quarterly addenda to The Guide… if I actually read this it might be worth it. Then again, I start to think how much perfume I could get for $44. LOL.

A friend of mine says to her those fashion magazines with 932 pages of ads are like crack.

lol – I started adding up how many decants/samples/perfume I could get for $44, too. Top of the list Chanel No 5 parfum from fragrencenet. But then, I was also trying to decide if reading the mag would help me make fewer “unsniffed purchase mistakes” – or MORE of them.

To answer some of the questions:

The mag will contain original articles and features not found on the website. Plus, its easier to read in the bath!

We’re not making any money on the shipping, that’s how much the post office has said it will be to ship them. We are looking into ways we can reduce this, but it depends on the uptake of the magazine

Cheers Robin for blogging about it

Speaking of the quarterly Guide, it is no longer of this world. Apparently the work/research, etc. involved is too much to be considered a side issue. Woe. So much for my treat.

I’m kinda upset. I subscribed to this magazine summer of 2009 but have received only 2 issues so far. Their first issue is called ‘issue 0’. In theory, I should have gotten 0, 1, 2 and 3. I only have 1 and 2.

Getting only 2 issues for $44 is super expensive!

Have you written to them? I don’t know what happened or if they’re refunding money or what.
