L'Artisan Parfumeur will launch Havana Vanille, a new fragrance that captures the "aged rum and sweet air of Cuba", this fall.
Havana Vanille was developed by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour, and the notes include leather, rum, clove, dried fruits, narcissus, tonka bean, helichrysum, vanilla, smoked woods, moss and balsamic notes.
L'Artisan Parfumeur Havana Vanille will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (via extrait.it)
Update: see a review of L'Artisan Havana Vanille.
oh yeh.
My sentiments exactly.
Definitely want to try this one!
Yep.
:: bows to my altar of Duchaufour ::
For sure can’t wait (it’s a GOOD year, I think), though leather and rum are not necessarily my best friends. I own LA Vanilia, but it gets a little of that “sour” vibe I sometimes get from certain sandalwood notes. I’m really on a vanilla bender this year though and just bought into a split of Spiritueuse Double Vanille.
It really is shaping up to be a good year, better than last year I think.
Oh you know this is killing me!!!! I want some!
Maybe if you go in the kitchen and huff some of the Caswell-Massey extract, the feeling will pass…
Sorry, I meant Nielsen-Massey (extract purveyors). Caswell-Massey is actual perfume!
I was wondering a bit about that one—and whining “but I don’t have any of that…..” and sticking my head in the perfume cabinet for a big nose-hit….
once the Lemming Glands have activated there’s little I can do to curb the buying…..
Lemming glands fully functioning here. Must.Sniff.
The two reports I’ve read on this from the people who sniffed it in Liberty’s, suggest it’s to die for. I can hardly wait.
It does sound lovely!
All over this one…don’t think I’ve met a l’AP I didn’t like yet!
I wouldn’t go *that* far myself, but I sure like many of them!
I’d assume you’ve smelled more of them than I have! That makes a difference, of course.
This sounds utterly divine. Time to start saving… Any idea how much this elixir will cost?
I don’t know, but in the US, they’re generally around $100 for 50 ml.
Oh, I love rum! (I mean as fragrance notes…I suppose if I could drink, I would like the beverage, too.) Gimme gimme gimme!!!
Me too. Was wearing Lubin Idole the other day…almost forgot how much I like that one.
Idole is great boozy fun!
This L’Artisan sounds delicious… THANK GAWD it’s not another transparent floral.
Are they taking pre-orders??? 🙂
I’ll bet somebody will start selling it before it’s out!
Sounds like a keeper.
Sure does!
Holy crap, this sounds amazing! Going on The List.
I have to figure out if I have a credit card that will work on the l’Artisan site – my Visa debit card keeps getting rejected. Isn’t hooked up with something-or-other.
Oh, darn! I’ve never ordered directly from them.
Is there any advantage to ordering direct from them? Otherwise, your card should work at Aedes and probably others…
I’m guessing they’ll have it first…
Ah that. I guess I’m more patient than the average reader, lol. Maybe there’s a phone number to call and order direct?
l’Artisan seems to have a rather friendly sample system.
They do have a lovely sample program….usually the best prices for buying bottles is from Naz at theperfumeshoppe.com
Ooh – thanks for that tip Daisy. I’m a huge fan of l’Artisan having recently discovered them. But they can break the bank!
noooo! :hides the American Express card:
HA. That never works.
One word – omnomnom.
Pardon the slang:)
LOL! That was *exactly* my reaction.
Yayyy!!!! I all but worship at the altar of SDV as it is and often stroke my bottle with such love and devotion that I worry myself sometimes. This sounds totally omnomnom-y, as so appropriately put above! *starts re-arranging the ‘must buy in the immediate future’ list to prepare the funds*
I love vanilla scents as well. I can hardly wait for this one!
HA!
As I said yesterday…I don’t think I will EVER be able to pay off that Barney’s Card. This one sounds REALLY nice!
Good thing for me I don’t have a Barneys card…or a local Barneys 🙂
I have yet to succumb to any of Duchaufour’s creations, but this one sounds toothsome indeed.
Not a one?? I’m impressed.
The notes sound “to die for”! This definitely goes on the sample list!
Sounds like it will go on many such lists 🙂
I smelled this at Liberty’s during the London Sniffapalooza and it is indeed yummy. We also had the pleasure of meeting B. Duchaufour, although at a different event. I think he was a little surprised that Liberty unveiled the scent a little early. I’m glad they did, though. By the way, we also got to try the new Jo Malone. It is vanilla and anise. I think they said it will be released in September.
How was the new JM?
Is vanilla the new pink pepper? The new oud? The new lychee?
Nah, vanilla has been around forever!
I know, it just seems like a lot of high-profile launches this year after a couple years without any major ones. Hermes, L’Artisan, and now Jo Malone. I’m not complaining!
Joe, that’s true! Maybe everyone is after comfort lately…
I think you could be right! Fortunately I like vanilla and everywhere I look at new perfume launches, I see ‘vanille’ in the names of the fragrances. Must be the trend, I suppose.
I’ve tried the new JM. It was a very transparent floral vanilla. The anise makes it feel fresher rather than warmer, but there is nice dry down of vetiver and amber. There is a bit of clove, which bugs me, but I’m an avid clove-hater, so everyone else should be fine. Nice enough, as I’m on a vanilla kick at the moment. It isn’t complex or a gourmand sugar bomb.
Thanks! I love clove, so perhaps it will suit me.
Sounds nice, but I don’t usually like L’Artisan.
Crazy, I knooooooowww.
I guess I’ll try it, though.
Might as well.
[insert Homer Simpson drooling noise here]
LOL!
Oh, yessssssssss… honestly, the list of notes is almost making me drool.
It sounds very nearly perfect. Let’s hope…
Well, between my panting and Mals and Sante’s drooling, this blog is getting a little scary!
🙂
OHMIGAWD!!!!!!!!! if this had Coconut in it i might have spontaneously combusted from joy! OH DEAR LORD! this sounds like an almost RELIGIOUS Fragrance experience! 🙂 MUST OWN! MUST BUY!
BTW… anyone here smellt the Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanilla/Coconut Fragrances??? are they simple and linear and not worth buying or are they scrumtuous? I’d LOVE someone to do a really HIG END version of A Vanille Coconut fragrance that smelled Deliciously Sweet and Sultry and Spicy but not Candy Like! 🙁 Sad! i know i may never see that!
On the Comptoir Sud Pacicfique vanilla/coconut fragrances: I really like their Coco Extreme for the way it sends me onto a virtual tropical beach, redolent of ambery sun cream. Holiday in a bottle! As to the “Vanillees” range of their Eaux de Voyage, I am afraid I like them all! Aren’t I just devoted to that holy orchid ^_^ I was wearing Vanille-Abricot last week, which is lighter and less sweet than something lilke Vanille Extreme (obviously) without being overly fruity; although I do love the Extreme for unabashedly ODing on the pod.
However, since you mentioned “spicy”, I would urge you to try CSP’s Amour de Cacao, which I am wearing today and is a standby in my collection: it has the indispensible vanilla base but manages to develop towards to woody-spicy without being to dry, and I love how it starts off with a candied orange note.
Please bear in mind these notes are based on how these perfumes behave on my skin, but if I were you, I would definitely give these a go.
All the best
THANK YOU IN THE EXTREME! I am on my way to sniff out all of these that you reccomend! 🙂 HUG!
A wonderful vanilla-coconut fragrance is Montale Intense Tiarè (I mentioned it below ;))…
It also features white flowers and rose, but I think if you are looking for a beautiful tropical vanilla coconut scent it might be it!!!
You can find a great, lengthy, review at perfume smelling things – or a nice quick snapshot here @ nst!
Really, try it!
What about EL Bronze Goddess?
Ohhh boozy + spices + leather + tonka bean & smoked woods? This sounds like a nice scent!
And to think I’ve been sooo good with my budget the last few quarters! I guess I’ll make up for it in the Fall……
I may be doing the same this fall…
Well, Duchaufour is my current favorite perfumer, and this sounds very special, particularly for fall. I hope it’s not too sweet, however!
You said it all! I Love Duchaufour’s work… but I am usually put off by sweet scents, in particular I find vanilla based scents very tricky to pull off!! I can wear only two sweeties: SL’s UBV (like 3/4 times a year) and Montale Intense Tiaré…. the latter has a special place reserved for rainy sundays!!
But I nebver tried Guerlain’s SDV, which seems to be very much appreciated here. Usually I’m not a fan of Guerlain though (powdery vanillic bases- meuk!!!)…
I’ll be surprised if it’s really sweet…that really doesn’t seem to be his style. Or L’Artisan’s, for that matter.
This sounds like an AWSOME perfume! Not sticky sweet due to the leather and rum. Not unwearably bitter due to the vanilla and fruit 🙂 !!
Hope it turns out that way 🙂
leather, clove, wood, moss, rum – oh let it be, Havana, but why is – and is it really – Vanilla needed in there?!
Anyway, it sounds pervert enough to stand in my expectations next to Rumba (fruits, vanilla and leather finish) and Montana Parfum de Peau (leather and overall abrupt)
The vanilla sounds good to me…we’ll have to hope!
This is a MUST HAVE 🙂
Might be!
Awesomeness. I nearly fainted.
LOL…now we can’t have that!
Does anyone know when they’re realeasing it?
Someone above says September.
