Think you’ve got a lot of perfume bottles?

Posted by Robin on 1 June 2009 27 Comments

A citizen of Kuwait has applied to Guinness World Records for his collection of over 5,000 perfume bottles to be recognized as a world record...Adel Al-Sadoun started collecting perfume bottles some 15 years ago, as he was charmed by the unique design created by perfume companies for their fragrances.

Hmmm…I wonder if they’re mostly empty or full? And I bet he doesn’t even use the perfume. Probably just displays the bottles. Shame if they’re full bottles sitting there unused! What an amazing collection, though. I’d love to see it.

I am 95% sure he is this person:

      http://www.kuwaittimes.net/read_news.php?newsid=Mjg3NTk=

…in which case, sounds like he collects all sorts of things, and yeah, not necessarily a perfume user.

That’s what I was thinking! Although, if he’s trying to get into Guinness, maybe other folks will be moved to beat him to it–we could luck out with press coverage of rival perfume bottle collections.

OMG that place brings tacky up to the level of sublime!! If they let me loose in there with my camera I would use the 800 pics in my memory card quickly. The perfume room is just crazy.

Huge thanks Grant, I’m sure that’s it! I’m such a geek I was equally entranced by the model cars.

And you USE yours! At least some of them, I’m sure. Wow, that is a different perfume every day for 13.6 years.

Yeah, my first thought was, “What a shame… all that going to waste.” But it does make me feel better about owning more bottles than I could conceivably use in a lifetime.

Well, I thought i had a lot of perfume bottles. Now – not so much. My mom just gave me an old bottle of Ombre Rose – a classic example for me of liking the bottle more than the juice. It makes a nice addition to my *mini* collection.

Wow, that is one huge collection. Just the thought of having to dust everything is scary. I don’t mind cleaning/organizing but that is over the top!
