Zegna Colonia by Ermenegildo Zegna ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 21 May 2009 24 Comments

Zegna Colonia

Ermenegildo Zegna has launched Zegna Colonia, the line's latest fragrance for men:

With Zegna Colonia, the brand unveils its personal vision of ‘la Dolce Vita’. A parenthesis of peaceful happiness bathed in the warm embrace of the Italian sun. A snapshot of an elegant silhouette and the entrancing eyes of a man dressed in white linen, captured in the space of an instant.

Between confirmed elegance and affirmed casualness, Zegna Colonia captivates from the very first moment with the sparkling energy of Sicilian bergamot, brilliantly blended with neroli and cardamom. The seductive game continues with the mellow, powdery embrace of iris heightened with galbanum. The fragrance gently unfurls on an accord of musk, benzoin and cedar, the signature of this atypical and addictive fragrance.

Zegna Colonia by Ermenegildo Zegna is available in 75 ml Eau de Toilette and in a limited edition collection of matching grooming products. (via zegna)

Update: Zegna Colonia was developed by perfumers Antoine Lie and Daniela Andrier. It will also be available in 120 ml. (via wwd)

I like the sound of this. And the ad copy isn’t too over the top! I’m learning that I really like cardamom in fragrances.

It does sound really nice — and I love cardamom too, the more the better.

I agree… I was just thinking that it might be something I’d wear myself – and I’m generally not a big fan of wearing masculines. Of course, it might smell more masculine than it sounds.

That’s not to say that women can’t wear men’s fragrances, of course, and I’m not critizing women who do – hope I didn’t leave that impression. I’ve done it, and there are a few masculines that occasionally work for me. But generally speaking, to me, personally, it’s like wearing my husband’s (clean) underwear: It feels Weird.

I’ll wear my husband’s clothes, too, maybe that’s why it doesn’t bother me.

This really sounds wonderful. I have loved their previous releases, esp. Essenza. They smell amazing on my husband, and I like to borrow a few drops every now & again.

Can I also compliment the ad photo?? He’s very handsome, it’s a beautiful shot, and I think EL should use it for their next White Linen campaign! ;)

I recently received a sample of the original ‘Z’ that I haven’t tried yet. Are these usually well-done, or the usual “spicy citrus scent for him”?

I don’t know! I need to check my notes but think I’ve only tried 1, and can’t remember what it is.

That guy in the photo, is he real? Looks like a virtual character to me. But maybe he just had too much photoshop.

It’s funny, he doesn’t look fake or overly photoshopped to me, but he does look almost too perfect, if that makes sense.

It’s Guillaume Gabriel, and he is almost too perfect, lol.

i received Z via sephora sample, and thought it smelled boring/typical out of the bottle, but i made my husband try it, which smelled very good on him AND he actually liked it. i’m gonna have to secure a sample of this somehow too!

I’m a big fan of their very first one, a lovely bergamot/myrtle/vetiver number. Now THAT one is Italy epitomized in a bottle!
Looking forward to trying this one too, sounds promising. :)

Dusan, that is a lovely and perfect way to say it “Italy epitomized in a bottle!” It is a very well-done scent. My husband and I both love it. Maybe it’s a Yugo thing ;)
