Diptyque L’Eau de Tarocco ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 3 May 2009 31 Comments

Diptyque L'Eau de Tarocco fragrance

Diptyque has launched L'Eau de Tarocco, a fourth fragrance in the cologne series that debuted last year with L'Eau de L'Eau, L'Eau des Hesperides & L'Eau de Neroli.

A fruity Eau de Cologne that's sweet yet vibrant and spicy.

One can imagine the camels carrying burlap sacks filled with heady spices and exotic flavors, conjuring the aroma of Persian saffron and the taste of fruits from faraway lands...

The notes feature orange, grapefruit, saffron, cinnamon, rose, cedar and incense.

Diptyque L'Eau de Tarocco will be available in 100 and 200 ml Eau de Cologne. (quote via diptyqueparis, additional information via latribune.fr, firstluxe)

I got my first batch of samples from the MM recommendations yesterday
        I can’t believe but…
I really do not like CdG 2 at all. Love Leaves: Tea though
and Le Labo Patchouli 24? yumyumyumyum

Sorry you didn’t like the 2 but give it a couple of tries. It is quite odd and is actually better, I find, on chillier days, applied lightly. I was a little put off at first but now have a bottle.

This sounds nice. Will have to try. I liked the Hesperides from this series. I just recently purchased my first Diptyque fragrance L hombre dans L’eau. I overlooked this line for some reason. I recently just fell in love with the Phylosykos!!!

I liked all 3 of the colognes…really well done. Wish they’d do 50 ml though.

yes, 50 ml would suit me better, too. At least I can get them around here… But I think I’d rather make it to a FB Rose Ikebana. Somewhen… sigh.

I just buy the 15 ml Hermessences, they’re all I can afford. Except Osmanthe Yunnan, which I did buy in 100 ml.

Sounds worth trying for sure. Anyone know what ‘Tarocco’ might refer to other than a variety of Italian blood orange? Is it also a place? I couldn’t find any reference. Not sure where the camels figure in…

As far as I know, just the orange. If that’s right, obviously the overall inspiration is from elsewhere, what with the camels & all ;-)

R/Joe: the best oranges I’ve eaten in my LIFE were grown in Morocco (and that’s where I ate them: NOT FOR EXPORT)…and there were camels all around…and spice. I’ll use Morocco as my reference for this one. HA!

Tarocco are also the cards/game for reading good fortune. They are the ones behind the recent D&G inspiration

Citrus is a double-edged sword for me, mostly on a negative side. However, this does sound nice.

I totally ready “L’Eau de Tobacco” and was rather confused by the “fruity cologne” bit. At the same time, though, I’m relieved. Watered-down tobacco sounds counterintuitive.

That’s what I saw at first as well….skipped right to reading comments. Didn’t go back and check my reading until Joe mentioned blood orange …..of course once I saw “orange” ; my interest increased geometrically! Orange anything being my current perfume craving….although I keep thinking about that Amouage Ubar…..

Add “flame-grilled meat” to that list and it sounds like it would smell like my favorite persian restaurant…which is heavenly and I certainly wouldn’t mind smelling like that. Doubt my husband would mind it either. :-)

I heard it would be available in May – you could call Diptique in San Francisco to confirm though.

I’m looking forward to trying this. The grapefruit makes me a little nervous — citrus notes sometimes go sour on my skin — but cinnamon + saffron + cedar + incense sound like love to me.

Besides, Diptyque fragrances are almost always so well-made. Of the colognes, I’ve only tried L’eau de l’eau, but I love it — I have a big ol’ 200 mL jug that I just spray and spray. Some days I wish my whole world could smell like it (and sometimes, when I’ve sprayed too much, it does).
