DSquared2 He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 11 March 2009 21 Comments

DSquared2 Rocky Mountain Wood fragranceDSquared2 will launch He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood next month. The new fragrance is the first of a projected series of flankers to He Wood and She Wood under the name Nature Always Wins.

Like the earlier DSquared2 fragrances, He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood was developed by perfumer Daphne Bugey, and it is reportedly a "more virile" take on He Wood's "woody violet base note". I'll update with more detailed notes when I can find them.

DSquared2 He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via cosmeticnews)

Update: He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood was "inspired by the Canadian Rockies", and the scent is a woody vetiver with notes of mineral amber, incense, musk, Canadian lily, white pepper, vetiver and cedar. (via moodiereport)

Hmm, the original HeWood is still on my FB list. Love it, and thank goodness they do 30ml bottles.

I guess some folks need “more virile.” Maybe they'll keep releasing flankers that get more and more virile until they get to “HeWood Morning Wood”?

LOL!! Now you'll have to take me quite literally when I say that He Wood was simply not woody enough for me: if this one is deeper & less clean, I'll like it better than the original. If “virile” means something else to DSquared2, then perhaps not.

That was a little risque but I couldn't resist. I wouldn't mind a little more wood — literally — in the mix, but that original composition was just perfect to me in all its green “violettiness”. Might be worth trying this new one though. Rocky Mountain says balsam to me and that's not what I'm looking for. How about layering HeWood with that CdG Hinoki thing or some CB Cedarwood Tea?

I'll believe in a more “virile” He Wood when I start seing the lumberjacks here in Canada dressed in DSquared2 from head to toes.

It's ok, it didn't cross into “NSFW” territory :-)

…fancy Italian Brand from 2 good CANADIAN boys!

I used to rub elbows with them way back when, before they were famous.

I LOVE He Wood! So fresh and unique in the base… i was smelling myself all day when i spritzed it the first time, just marvelling at the changes! She Wood is kinda Dazzling too! I hope this is notjust a “BEEFING UP” of the original notes and is an actual Variation on the Theme. I do so hate Flankers, But this one i am looking forward to!

I would be happy with the “beefing up” myself, but sounds like I'm outvoted here.

    I really don't enjoy DSquared2's fashions.
My fav singer always wears DSquared2, and I'm always like “whhhyyyy doesn't he just hire me as his stylist??” and then everyone else is like “oommgg DSquared!!!! :D :D :D”
so I guess I'm the only one.
I don't think He Wood is ever at Sephora whenever I go, so I haven't tried it.

Is it just me or did anyone else think that the original smelled a lot like Riverside Drive?

I've never seen the fashions. Not sure I've seen testers at Sephora either, but Nordstrom has them.

For those needing an overdose of virility, how about He Wood Matterhorn Wood? And those who can't quite subscribe to being that masculine, and prefer to be a bit more of a sensitive new age kinda guy.. He Wood Norwegian Wood?
