Bois 1920 Vento di Fiori and Come La Luna ~ new perfumes

Posted by Robin on 27 February 2009 26 Comments

Bois 1920 Come La Luna fragranceItalian niche line Bois 1920 introduced two new fragrances for women last year, and they've just arrived at Luckyscent in the US:

Vento di Fiori ~ "Self-assured and sophisticated – this classic chypre opens with a crystalline Sicilian lemon laced with coriander and tarragon, which gives way to the intense green bite of galbanum. The darker green of earthy patchouli comes in to soften and deepen the boldly crisp beginning..." Other notes include cardamom, jasmine, amber, oak moss, musk and birch.

Come La Luna ~ "A skin caressing blend of soft, enveloping woods and scintillating spice. A sparkling citrus opening leads to a comforting heart of rose wood, pink pepper and exotic coriander..." Other notes include mandarin, sweet orange, patchouli, cedar, amber and incense.

Bois 1920 Vento di Fiori and Come La Luna are available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette ($160).

Update: see a review of Come La Luna.

Yep, Vento di Fiori goes on the must try list for sure. Sounds like the classic dry-chypre that I adore!

On the other hand, it's also a variation on 25 or so perfumes I already own!

LOL — surely “a variation on 25 or so perfumes I already own” should not be a deterrent? At least, it rarely is for me ;-)

I certainly don't have anything like Come La Luna – sounds interesting.

Oh my god that is a beautiful bottle! I just want to fondle it.
And Vento di Fiori sounds like an honest-to-god chypre, oakmoss and all. (I don't really get how it's a “fragrance for women”, though; it sounds like a straight-up chypre, perfectly unisex.) Therefore, I have to try it.

Both sound fantastic, but especially Vento di Fiori. Have never tried this line, though Sushi Imperiale certainly has gotten a lot of buzz around boards I've read. And now I've made the mistake of looking at the whole line on Lucky Scent's site and am concocting a long sample wishlist.

I can't tell if I love that bottle or if it's cheap and tacky looking. Love the glass part — reminds me of some Venetian glass; maybe just the cap isn't working for me. Their previous frosted glass bottles look nice.

I know, I keep trying to be good but I think 09 might be a good fragrance year for those of us who like dry chypres!

Well, the description of Vento di Fiori made me sit up straight in my chair, metaphorically speaking, but so expensive! As you wrote above, the Italian niche scents seem so pricey. And there are other, great chypres…

Very nice looking bottle. Of this line, I love love love Real Patchouly and Sushi Imperiale I liked for a minute, but moved it along in the end. This is pricey…YES…but his ODORI line is even more expensive…over $200!

I have not done any kind of study, but it seems like Italian niche scents are now pricier than French? Or maybe I'm crazy.

Odori Iris…definitely gorgeous! I regret moving that one along. I love Iris as a note. I just BLEW a great deal on a SL Iris Silver Mist Bell bottle by a dollar! I could kick myself for being distracted on the bidding. Oh well.

Oh I don't know – Bois 1920 Extreme is absolutely wonderful but I don't know that would spend the £120 it costs to buy a bottle, not when I could buy a big bottle of Bois Des Iles for £140.00.

Oh, sorry about your ISM! A bell jar of ISM has been on my “to buy” list forever but will probably never get one, and wouldn't know what to do with that much of it if I did.

This bottle had 40% left…would have been just enough to use…before…well ya know how finicky I am. HA!

Ah, yes, that's a reasonable amount. Do wish they'd make cute little 30 ml bell jars!

I just tried both of these this weekend. They reminded me a lot of the Carthusia line, that old-fashioned powdery/herbal floral smell that is an Italian trademark. Nice but not must-haves. I prefer the Real Patchouly, Vetiver Ambrato and Sushi Imperiale of this line.

Thanks! I like Carthusia, but the price on these is high.
