Melinda Messenger Delightful ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 10 February 2009 38 Comments

Melinda Messenger Delightful fragranceUK model and television presenter Melinda Messenger has launched Delightful, her debut fragrance. According to Ms. Messenger,

This perfume is the perfect start to the day, I wear it first thing in the morning and it really gives you a lift and makes you feel fresh and delicious all day long. It’s perfect for the evening too, when you want to feel special. It’s a beautiful signature fragrance that I would not want to be without.

The fruity floral fragrance features notes of mandarin, pineapple, lemon, blackcurrant, freesia, lily of the valley, raspberry vanilla, amber and woods.

Melinda Messenger Delightful is available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (quote via melinda-messenger.co.uk, additional information via jigsawesl)

I feel a slight affinity with Melinda, as we have both lived in Swindon, but when it comes to her taste in perfume, I am afraid we will have to part company. Melinda is of course prone to bouts of depression, so if this juice is really as uplifting as she says, maybe I should suspend judgement and check it out after all, though the blackcurrant, pineapple and raspberry are making me very nervous.

Why must every perfume always be *perfect* for day AND night? I always think they should leave that option open, for flankers!

I've never heard of her, and this doesn't interest me at all. They lost me at pineapple, raspberry, lemon, blackcurrant, and mandarin… sounds yummy for a fruit salad, though.

Makes me pretty darned nervous too, although I've never heard of her in my life…

My lip is lifting in a sneer, of course, but I have to admit that a few weeks ago I asked the girl who was washing my hair at the hairdressers what she was wearing. She smelled delicious. It turned out to be Katie Price Besotted! I was chastened.

And for those of us who wish to smell dark, mysterious, and dangerous…we'll just move right on past (or rather, to the past…). I still cannot comprehend why our society is moving from celebrating the individual and unique to the conformist's paradise. The smell of the masses…flowers, fruit, and ozone. Oh joy.

The copy really made me crack up:

    It's perfect in the morning.

Oh yeah, it's perfect in the evening too.

It's perfect when you want to feel fresh and delicious.

It's perfect when you want to feel special.

Since you got me on a YouTube kick yesterday, maybe it reminds me of this oldie but goodie commercial:

    OMG!!

“feel fresh and delicious all day”

    DELICIOUS???

It reminds me of that famous quote attributed to Helen Gurley Brown (former editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan)

“Women have to make themselves cup-cakable so that men will want to gobble them up”

It seems that they only have to make themselves fresh and delicious!!!

That's made me want to give mine another go! i find that Besotted smells really nice when I first put it on but completely different and not as nice throughout the day. I loved Stunning and the Alex Curran one and delicious is made by Jigsaw too so could be worth a look…

A classic, joe! Once in a while, we'll be getting ready to go out and I'll ask my husband if he thinks what I'm wearing is appropriate. “Is it evenink vear?” he'll ask.

Back on topic, there's waaay too much fruit in that punch for me.

Aparatchik: That is funny. I hadn't seen the ad in years (decades?), but for some reason I also have a regular habit whenever something comes up related to bathing suits and such, to say to myself or whoever I'm with, “svim-vear”.

    Melinda Messenger has a fragrance?

I'm so pitching my idea to Jigsaw…

'Pocket Liner' by Amanda: Who cares what it smells like? I'm in it for the big, fat cheque…

But seriously, it must be hard to think up a name. Anything & everything have been used.

Oh, God — I'll have to try it, driven by one of those sickly impulses that I normally don't even want to admit to, since it's basically envious curiosity…I'd never heard of Katie Price until she began her pink-and-sequined assault on the sport of dressage — she has announced her intention of trying for the 2012 Olympics. The equestrian world is mostly agog. If I like the perfume, I'll have to kill myself.

It does seem a mite incongruous, doesn't it? I think she must have genuinely fallen in love with the sport, but a little humility might be nice — it takes years, usually, even for a talented rider to develop the kind of skills that take you to the upper echelons. Of course, I'm wondering what my scores might be like if I could afford million-dollar+ horses…Sorry to have veered so OT. I'm done now :))).

Anyway, my nose is generally out of joint lately, a sad thing to befall a parfumista. I have been wearing so many gorgeous scents this winter — Patou 1000, Datura Noire, and Bois de Paradis — and no has responded to any of them (not that that's why I wear them). The other day I went into Sephora and spritzed on some D&G Light Blue. I'd never sniffed the stuff, so it was investigative work. Well, everyone loved it. Savage beasts were tamed on the spot and followed me around meekly. I don't get it…so perhaps I should try Ms. Messenger's offering, too.

D&G Light Blue is a sure crowd-pleaser. Perhaps it all depends on which savage beast you want to tame ;-)

I saw her on tv once when she was on the Dame Edna Show (there was seriously nothing on tv that day). Otherwise I'm clueless–one of the perks of living in Canada I suppose.

Interesting enough…here in Canada the B-list celebrities are sort of easy to tune out! Even A-listers are expected to keep a low profile on certain things. That or I just tune those people straight out.

LOL — I mostly tune it out here too. In the UK, they seem much more pervasive.
