Strange Invisible Perfumes Aquarian Roses, Epic Gardenia & Urban Lily ~ new fragrances

Strange Invisible Perfumes Aquarian Roses, Epic Gardenia & Urban Lily perfumes

All-natural brand Strange Invisible Perfumes will launch a new trio of floral perfumes for spring 2009:

Enlighten your nose to the complex beauty of spring flowers. Follow the crooked stems of wild roses to the roots without a single thought of removing their thorns. Abandon the context of ladies in gardens and discover what lily of the valley is truly about. Watch all flowers fade in conversation once the name “Gardenia” is spoken. This stunning trio of spring fragrances unveils the authentic aromas of a new era.

The fragrances are:

Aquarian Roses ~ "Crisp aquatic notes of wild roses brighten a warm sea of marjoram and sandalwood. A floral perfume for both sexes, this Aquarian elixir boasts the relevance of rose in contemporary perfumery and on the skin of men. Rose returns but this time on its own terms. True to its roots and wild with thorns, it is poised to enlighten the senses and perfume a new era."

Epic Gardenia ~ "With its scandalous, head-turning perfume, the legendary gardenia silences talk of all other flowers. Leaving its iconic imprint on all who inhale its charms, gardenia is not for the faint of heart. While the flower will not consent to be distilled, gardenia’s gorgeous perfume finds its long lost twin in Epic Gardenia, an impressionistic rendering of the flower’s humid, velvety scent. At last, this elusive, tormenting aroma is captured in a bottle of purely authentic floral essences."

Urban Lily ~ "On the first of May, lily of the valley blossoms make their yearly debut on the street corners of Paris. Their inspiring scent rings out a clear and welcome message: the return of happiness. Urban Lily follows these flowers beneath the garden floor and reveals that sweetness belies strength. Like an ethereal beauty living in a dizzying metropolis, this determined lily chases the beauty in adversity. I will endure small spaces, harsh seasons, and changing landscapes with mystical poise. Similar to the gardenia, lily of the valley will not yield an essence. Happily, the sweetness of its petals, the strength of its roots, and the lush beauty of its leaves are captured in Urban Lily, a stunning bouquet for the ages."

Strange Invisible Perfumes Aquarian Roses, Epic Gardenia and Urban Lily will be available in 7.5 ml Parfum ($210) or 50 ml Eau de Parfum ($175). (via press release)

Even though I am not a floral type of a girl (except for iris, violet and lavender – cold and powdery), I'd love to try these perfumes. Even though it might be just the right marketing, I don't know, but they sound very interesting.

I am hoping to make it to an LA wedding this summer and to visit the SIP shop- I have not smelled most of the line- but everything I have smelled has been very good.

I think they sound great — esp. hoping that “Epic Gardenia” turns out to be what they used to sell as “Lady Day” — fabulous gardenia scent!

Yes! I was hoping the same thing–and thinking about March as I thought it…

I keep meaning to say, and this seems as good a place as any, that Trygve Harris, the propietor of the wonderful essential oils shop, Enfleruage (www.enfleurage.com) has been doing a spectacular experiment in modern enfleurage with a flower farm in Columbia and she has recently produced both real gardenia oil and a gardenia body butter made from the palm oil that was used in the enfleurage process. They are both spectacular. She's done tuberose and a couple of roses as well, and I love the tuberose, too.

Well, I think I am saved from the lily, since Lily of the Valley is one of the few things that gives me a headache, but the rose sounds amazing, and I'll be very interested to try the Gardenia. Drat.
I'm going to have to make a side-trip perfume shopping expedition one of my So. Cal trips.

    these sound interesting….
I do not like tuberose or jasmine (like A La Nuit jasmine), is gardenia similar?
I never know what flowers smell like

I read about that! Can't remember where, now. But would love to visit that shop anyway — sounds like a real gem.

If the gardenia is anything like Lady Day was, it will be wonderful. Worth a try, anyway!

Gardenia is closest probably to tuberose. They don't smell the same, but they're both heavy & tropical smelling.

Impressionistic rendering, hm, Cruel Gardenia got an impressionistic rendering too. It smells lovely, bot not like a pure gardenia; I believe it is a solar gardenia, not for certain on solar's meaning.

I really hope it smells like a muted gardening, not to cloying or heady.

    I haven't found one yet. : (

Well, all gardenias get an impressionistic rendering…the accord is based on other notes since gardenias are not typically distilled. “Solar gardenia”, IMHO, means nothing.
