Leona Lewis

British pop singer Leona Lewis is set to launch her first perfume in conjunction with German brand LR:

I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to work on such an exciting project.

I am passionate about what I do and it is important for me to give the best I can to my fans all of the time.

I love my new fragrance and I already love LR.

The fragrance will be called simply Leona Lewis, and is due to launch later this year. (via thesun.co.uk, vogue.co.uk, marieclaire.co.uk; image via leonalewismusic.co.uk)

Leona Lewis Eau de ParfumUpdate: the Leona Lewis scent is a fruity floral with blood orange, blackcurrant, pineapple, freesia, pear, peony, wild plum, vanilla, cedar and white musk.

It's the UK! You don't have to be more than sort-of-famous to launch a perfume. Of course, we've now got all sorts of movie & TV tie-in perfumes so I don't think we can throw stones.

Winner of UK's Pop Idol or somesuch.

Don't care much about the fragrance, but boy. is. she. beautiful. exclamation. mark.

She even looks better without that heavy make-up. Sigh.

I actually followed the show to see her dream come true…to be fair, she does look better and sing better than a number of pop stars.

*Flounce* She won the The X-Factor (UK) in 2007. We're very proud of Leona in the UK, because she made it to No.1 in the US with 'Bleeding Love' . If anyone watched the closing ceremony of the Olympics, she was the singer who appeared out of the top of the London bus to sing 'Whole Lotta Love' with Jimmy Page. Not that you could hear her.

um she's really famous, and Bleeding Love and Better in Time were big hits… here in the US
she is a good singer and she is beautiful but her music is so booorrriiinng. She seems pretty boring too.

This is one of the more exciting celebrity endeavours! I wonder how much she will be involved, though. She's also launching a vegan clothing line here in the UK, soon.
Isn't she really big in the States, as well?

    yes

her song “Better in Time” plays on the radio every day when my sister picks me up from school.

Both her single and the album got to #1 here

Ok, ok — ya'll have caught me out again! If you say she's REALLY famous, I'll have to take your word(s) for it! My never having heard of her doesn't mean anything since I've never heard of most of them.

Yes, you're right. Leona is our Kelly, basically. She also won a UK talent show. Wonderfully talented girl – love her music, but I can't help but sigh at all the celebrities and their fragrances nowadays. EXCEPT for SJP (whom I adore) – that's how it should be done! Through involvement, passion and knowledge. And flawless taste.

I think she's one of those people who have nothing *wrong* with them, but that's kind of the problem

It'll probably be pretty but boring

She seems like she'll have crap taste in perfume, and she comes across as dull in interviews. Like a pretty girl who hasn't ever needed a personality in her life, she just forgot to develop one.
She's got a good voice though – I'm not knocking her for her singing!

If she's got a good creative director, may not matter what her taste is.

I am fully expecting a “bleeding orange” note to be in there…with excellent sillage. (“K-keeps bleeding…”)

This says as much about the contemporary music industry as it does about the fragrance industry – no doubt someone's recognised the probability that a reality TV show winner just may not be able to back up the success of their first venture, so a perfume might just drag those fifteen minutes out a bit longer… (sorry!)
