Fresh Citron de Vigne ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 2 January 2009 15 Comments

Fresh Citron de Vigne perfumeFresh has launched Citron de Vigne, a new unisex fragrance inspired by a trip Alina Roytberg (Fresh's co-founder) took to the Veuve Clicquot vineyards in France:

Inspired by Reims, France’s Champagne region, CITRON DE VIGNE EAU DE PARFUM is a crisp, sparkling, sensual blend that is ideal for both men and women. An innovative heart note of pinot noir accord—comprised of bergamot, dark almond, musk, white sandalwood, and rose—is combined with bubbling citrus top notes and an earthy base in this unique, everyday scent.

Additional notes include neroli, bitter orange, pink grapefruit, jasmine tea leaves, lemongrass, patchouli and amber.

Fresh Citron de Vigne is available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching soap and candles. (quote via fresh, additional information via cosmeticworld)

Other recent launches from Fresh: Strawberry Flowers.

I'd like to try it too — sounds more interesting than many of the Fresh scents.

I notice Fresh doesnt get much love around here. I kind of like a few of the their products. Well that sure didnt sound like a RA RA Fresh comment. Seriously..I enjoy Cannabis Santal alot.

I admit it — I don't love anything in the the Fresh line at the moment. Jessica loved Cannabis Rose though!

I'll have to give this one a sniff, but if it follows in the way of most Fresh things I have tried, it will manage to smell like a cleaning product.

I've tried a number of Fresh fragrances, I really wanted to like them. But they are really linear, just get louder during the day and anything with musk in it overwhelms anything else. I've tried at least 5 of their fragrances in the past two years, and just don't get love from them.

I didn't think the 2 Cannabis scents smelled like cleaning products. They didn't smell much like Cannabis either though.

I liked a few of the older “Fresh Index” scents. They were simple & mostly linear, but they were ok — but the line is not a bargain these days, and so far haven't found one I wanted enough to pay for it. I do think Cannabis Rose has lots of fans though.

I LOVED their discontinued Grape & Vine, so my fingers are crossed for this one (although that “pinot noir accord” doesn't sound particularly grape-like).

It doesn't sound grape-like, does it? But I'm assuming it will smell grape-like…and didn't know they used to have a Grape & Vine!

I used to love Lemon Sugar in the summertime but right before I stopped wearing it I noticed a very persistent musk tone that threw the lemon off (that is an odd pairing, to my nose). I thought it might be my body chem changing – but maybe not.

since then I've given Fresh a pass – perhaps this one will be more interesting.

I'm confused – as Pinot Noir is a grape, why wouldn't it smell grape-like?

We were just noting that the “ingredients” in the Pinot Noir accord didn't sound like they'd smell like grape — see the quote in the article above.
