Reminiscence ~ shopping for perfume in London

Posted by Guest Shopper on 14 December 2008 — 0 Comments — Comments are closed

Reminiscence boutique in LondonFrench jewellery and perfume house Réminiscence have few shops outside France — a couple in Belgium, one in Kuwait and another in Saudi Arabia. It’s therefore a treat to find the Réminiscence shop in the heart of the King’s Road, London.

The interior of the shop is vivid aqua green, with counters on each side sparkling with silver and costume jewellery, and crystal chandeliers overhead. It’s a little like walking into an undersea treasure cave. Réminiscence is all about fantasy and playfulness, a theme that’s carried through to the fragrances and their presentation. Pastel colours abound, especially in the new Les Notes Gourmandes set of four scents.

The shop carries the full range of Réminiscence scents, including the big bulb-atomiser bottles of Patchouli, Musc and Ambre.

There are also a few wisps of pretty clothing to buy. At the time of my visit, there were also a couple of pairs of cute black boots, although quite where this fitted with the rest of the line was a puzzle.

Customer service is friendly and helpful, and they offer delightful spray samples in sachets.

Best sellers: Patchouli, followed by Mi Fa.

Getting there: Réminiscence, 104 King’s Road, Chelsea, London SW3 4TZ. Tel: +44 (0) 207 581 8250.

Nearest tube station: Sloane Square. Réminiscence is about ten minutes’ walk up, on the right hand side.

Nearby: There’s a Penhaligon’s boutique a minute’s walk further along the road.

Don’t miss: The Saatchi Gallery, which is on the other side of the King’s Road, closer to Sloane Square. And Chelsea Town Hall, ten minutes’ walk further on, is the favoured choice of celebrities getting married in civil ceremonies.
