Ralph Lauren Fragrances is giving away 25 bottles of their new Notorious fragrance: Update: the bottles are all spoken for now, sorry!
This fall, Ralph Lauren makes a departure from the florals that have made him famous with the launch of Notorious, a sparkling, spiced oriental fragrance that celebrates the seductive women of 1930's and 40's Hollywood. Twenty-five "Now Smell This" readers will have an opportunity to experience for themselves how the scent brings together golden era glamour, subtle sexiness, and the timeless elegance of Ralph Lauren.
Like the iconic actresses of the 30's and 40's, the Ralph Lauren woman's sexiness bubbles below the surface -- discreetly, with her mystery still in tact. Givaudan perfumer Olivier Gillotin chose the traditional oriental base note of vanilla for Notorious and paired it with a seductive vintage patchouli musk that incorporates patchouli aged in oak barrels for five years to offer depth, character and smoothness, plus a hint of darkness. The floral heart of Notorious is comprised of fiery carnation (a spicy floral), white frost peonies and chocolate cosmos, a flower indigenous to Mexico and the American Southwest. Its lushness and drama appealed to Gillotin, and this is the first time that the note appears in a fine fragrance. While chocolate cosmos has a hint of chocolate scent, it is a floral note and not gourmand. Gillotin selected notes of peony and carnation to round out the heart. Both flowers reached a peak of popularity during the golden era of film, and can be spotted in many Hollywood publicity shots of the 30's and 40's. They were also prominent on the tables of the smoky night clubs and cabarets that were so popular at the time (especially among smoky, notorious women!). The sparkling spices in the top notes, pink peppercorn, black currant and Italian bergamot, modernize the scent and give it a bit of a kick to express the spark of excitement that the Notorious woman creates at first impression.
Each of the first 25 readers to contact the brand will receive Notorious in a 1.7oz. Art Deco-inspired bottle, topped with the RL logo, and packaged in a black, crocodile textured box. The packaging was inspired by Ralph Lauren's Fall 2008 collection, which featured gorgeous black and gold pieces, black leather crocodile accessories and a sleek 40's-inspired silhouette.

LOL, I woke up yesterday morning and saw the giveaway but I was tooo sleepy to click the link :(. I smelled this in a magazine yesterday and it was cool.
Hey, I know that morning feeling 🙂
Robin, did Ralph Lauren reps contact you about the giveaway, or were you googling and you found it? I saw a giveaway on another blog. Do they give it to perfume blogs exclusively?
They contacted me, and I don't know where else they held giveaways, sorry!
Hi there, JloveLamar. This is Kate at Ralph Lauren Fragrances. It's so strange that you saw a Notorious Giveaway on another blog. They must have picked it up from New Smell This, because we only reached out to Robin. I'm a big fan of hers and wanted to give my fellow Now Smell This readers a little sneak preview of Notorious. Please feel free to email me anytime at kbabb@us.loreal.com. Many thanks.
Oh no, it wasn't the Notorious fragrance. It was another one. I forgot which one it was, but it was on another pefume blog. I'll be awake for the next giveaway!
Thanks, JloveLamar!
