Zirh Ikon ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 23 June 2008 16 Comments

Coming this September from men's skincare brand Zirh will be Zirh Ikon, the line's third fragrance for men. The intended customer? "He's a pioneer, a risk-taker — men and women admire him."

Zirh Ikon is a spicy woods scent developed by perfumer Frank Voelkl. The notes include cardamom, davana flower, ginger, lemon, black cinnamon, clove, iris, labdanum, frankincense, cedarwood, liquid amber, patchouli and vetiver.

Zirh Ikon will be available in 75 and 125 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products. It will be exclusive to Bloomingdales in the US before going into wider distribution in October. (via wwd) Update: see a review of Zirh Ikon.

Gee you can almost hear the solitary coughs and chirrupping crickets on this post… 😉

Since I'm just a shlub who just does enough work to get by, this scared me off. I guess I'm not the only one.

the only thing that intrigues me is the word ikon…russian, isn't it?

Santemon — true, but the number of comments doesn't seem to have much correlation to the success of the fragrance 😉

LOL — I don't think scent marketers are after your demographic 🙂

According to WWD, they used a “K” to look better w/ the Zirh logo. So don't think it is meant to have that connotation.

It sounds nice enough but the copy is funny. They're trying to set up a “Hey, I'm bristley and cool and cocky, so this cologne is perfect for me!” But it just seems cheesy. And, like Rick said, kinda isolating.

I'd like to sniff this but I don't have much love for colognes at this point in my perfumista-ness.

I have to say… sounds like it will be at the least a pleasant and somewhat classical scent. nothing wrong with that! I am going to try it certainly… can't say what i truly feel about it until it's on my skin, but it's got good stuff in the juice, so i can't imagine it being obscene or unpleasant! In fact, it seems like it will smell downright Nice! 🙂

I think that an ad is moreover targeted to the projection of what we'd wish to be, than to what we are. We all are scared and shy somewhere inside, aren't we. I feel that this ad doesn't say: “If you're normal, don't come near”, but rather: “You just put this and you'll become a James Bond” 🙂

Anyway we've seen a lot of bold advertisings on shy perfumes, so… we'll live and see. But yes, notes sound OK. Anyway, if it's not as described, we always have YSL M7 that can make a superman of every man 😉

(Sorry but it's 8 in the morning here and my eyes aren't open wide enough) Whatever the juice will be, I definitely take this gorgeous man on the ad, he's G.R.E.A.T. rawwwrrr <3
