Posted by Robin on 3 June 2008 6 Comments

Shu Uemura fragrancesBeauty line Shu Uemura has launched a trio of fragrances in conjunction with their yearly "boutique birthday collection":

This year, to mark the 25th anniversary, Mr. Uemura created the most special and unique collection yet, one which truly embodies shu uemura's core values of nature, science and art with these three 100% natural origin fragrances formulated with Despea Water.

Fleur de Rose ~ "Sophisticated floral 100% natural origin fragrance with fresh floral amber note. Turkish rose to awaken feminine sensibility." In the pink bottle. [Notes: citron, rose, ylang-ylang, jasmin, freesia, sage and sandalwood]

Fleur de Terre ~ "Energizing, luminous 100% natural origin fragrance with a fresh floral woody note. Precious Italian bergamot essential oils to provide revitalizing feel." In the yellow bottle. [Notes: bergamot, orange, citron, lavender, anise, basil, mint, mimosa, orange blossom, rosemary, cedar, sandalwood and vanilla]

Fleur de Source ~ "Pure, serene and refreshing cool feeling in a 100% natural origin fragrance with a floral spicy note. Watery papyrus and Egyptian basil essential oils evoke cool beauty." In the blue bottle. [Notes: lemon, lavender, anise, green cassis, papyrus, orange blossom, jasmine, coriander and basil]

The Shu Uemura scents are $85 each for 50 ml Eau de Toilette. (via shuuemura-usa) Update: I've added more complete lists of notes above in brackets. (via osmoz)

Note: Shu Uemura passed away late last year.

Blue and Yellow (er, Source et Terre) sound interesting. The Shu Uemura aesthetic embraces technological advance and modernity in a way that brings Comme des Garcons to mind, so I am particularly interested in these scents. I'm also amused that they are 100% natural origin scents when Shu Uemura are known for their false eyelashes. Has anyone tried these scents?

Then Mr. Uemura is a workaholic ghost!

I am very tempted to try the Deep sea water line of skincare prodcts. But the availability and price deter me for now.

I have not — and don't think I have a SU counter near me, unfortunately! I like the bottles.

I assume he oversaw their development before he passed away. Availability is going to be a problem for me too, unless these get distributed more widely than the makeup line.
