Lostmarc'h Iroaz, Eau d'Italie Magnolia Romana ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 27 March 2008 20 Comments

Lostmarch Iroaz perfumeLostmarc'h has launched Iroaz, a new fragrance named for the Breton word for rose:

Surprising marriage

Former Rose, rose gardens, wild rose lend their smooth and peppery nuances to Iroaz, rose shores. Picked on the beach, the wind blows him marine freshness iodine.

Lostmarc'h Iroaz is 55€ for 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (quote via lostmarch.fr, found via beaute-addict)

Magnolia Romana perfume by Eau d'ItalieComing soon from Eau d'Italie, Magnolia Romana:

Magnolia Romana is all that one remembers of a Magnolia. A scent initially fresh and transparent, then warmer and with something more: the full roundness of a pure white flower with the green freshness of basil, the cleanliness of a lotus blossom mixed with a summer ozone note, then the slight contrast of dark green crushed lemon leaves with just a hint of the evanescent bitterness of damp earth rounding out this rare olfactory creation.

The notes include purple basil, lemon leaves, neroli, nutmeg, cypress, magnolia, Bulgarian rose, tuberose, lotus, ozone, water notes, cedar, hay extract and white musk.

Eau d'Italie Magnolia Romana will be available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via press release from lafcony, found via 1000fragrances) Update: see a review of Eau d'Italie Magnolia Romana.

This comment is off topic but I didn't know where to post it–sorry!

Since I'm traveling to Egypt in October I have been doing some reading. I found a book that might be of interest to some on this site…Oils and Perfumes of Ancient Egypt by Dr. Joan Fletcher. It is out of print. She is an Egyptologist and has made news for discovering Nefertiti's mummy; however, she has been banned from further research due to the way she filed her research. Of course, the British have their comments on this. Regardless, I have several of her books and she seems to be an authority on Egypt.

Yes, I will be taking my JCE Jardin Sur le Nil when I go!

We really need a US Lostmarc'h point of sale – love the bottles, love the rustic yet modern approach to scents. Peppery rose with salty marine nuances – I'm already sold!

Lucky you, you must be looking forward to October! Of course you must bring your Sur le Nil :-)

And will google the book, thanks!

I have not yet tried a single one — too cheap to have samples shipped. Are they worth the bother?

The Perfumed Court has some other LostMarc'h scents, so I'm guessing they'll get this one? Worth checking back, if one is stateside.

Hey babe! I am looking for a real magnolia fragrance, and would love to test this one. I hope that luckyscent gets it.

Have you ever tried the now discontinued Yves Rocher Magnolia? Octavian on 1000 Fragrances says it's one of the best real smelling magnolia fragrances ever produced.

    Hugs!

R, I haven't tried the YR — I read that too though! Wish Yves Rocher had not closed the 1 boutique they had near me :-(

The notes sound fabulous, except for the watery ozone stuff. I like a marine element only if its got that salty freshness. Still would love to try this.

The addition of cypress is intriguing here. Could someone comment on Demeter's “Cypress” BTW?

I don't usually like watery ozone stuff either, although there are a few exceptions.

Sorry but I've never tried the Demeter Cypress — would like to though!

I have promised myself to test LostMarc'h …

I have smell 3 of them quite quickly and it was interessing. The “Gourmand” doesnt disgust me and even make me smile.

I will try to discorver all of them this month. A niche perfume house with an original concept and quite good price cannot be ignored.

thanks. im still trying to decide how i feel about it. i wish it was a bit stronger…on me there is almost no silage. im thinking it could be a great daytime scent, fresh without being cookie cutter, and i just love green scents.

any suggestions for other green scents to investigate? my reigning favorite at the moment is Diptyque Philosykos, but, doesnt last super long on me.

As a matter of fact, there is one location within the US that carries this line. It's a little out of the way but I found some in Montauk, NY. A little shop on the corner of The Plaza called “Share With.. Montauk” It carries the Eaus as well as the soaps and the candles from this great brand. Like I said, it's a little out of the way(the tip of long island) but the town itself and this little shop are well worth the trip, especially if you live in new york already.
