Tuberose & wood

Posted by Robin on 7 October 2007 8 Comments

What did Courtney Love and the late Isabella Blow have in common? Robert Piguet's Fracas. Read more at Coco A-Go-Go at the New York Times, and thank you to Ruth for the link!

While you're at the Times, check out Chandler Burr's latest column, Wood Wins. On Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue: "One of the most perfectly executed perfumes of the past decade, it is almost insanely good."

Does Chandler Burr mention Light Blue in *every* article he writes?! Maybe not, but it does seem that way.

Light Blue smells just fine, but Chandler Burr needs a new gig.

I love Fracas, but has anyone met a man that likes it on a woman? It just seems like most men hate it. BTW, Sephora has a really good gift set of Fracas right now.

I can't stand Light Blue or anything from D&G. I always think their fragrances smell cheap.

Wow, does he? I haven't been paying attention, will have to go see.

Hmmm, don't they? I didn't know. Ah well, Fracas is too wonderful to give up just because men don't appreciate it!

I don't like LB either, but have to admit CB is right that it is perfectly executed.

I haven't read much about Light Blue, but I smelled it on an acquaintance recently and had to ask her what it was because it really did smell delicious to me. Too bad the men's version seems fairly generic, though maybe I should give it a skin test to be fair.

I like Burr's comments about wood, but would have liked a longer article. Now that the weather's getting cooler I'm starting a major new obsession with woods. And I do mean obsession: woodwoodwoodwoodwood.

I'm afraid I'm also starting a major obsession with Ava Luxe. To mention two recent samples I just received: her Teakwood and Palisander are both amazing, and she does a wood blend called Royal Parvati which I need to test further, but at first sniff, it was quite sublime. R, I think you really must do a healthy sampling of her line. I've absolutely jumped on her fan wagon.

I know, I'm so behind on sampling! I try but I never catch up. Do have 4-5 AL samples now and will try to get to them soon.
