Body Moose Honey Harmony Gator Hydrator ~ scented body products

Posted by Jessica on 23 September 2007 6 Comments

Body Moose Honey Harmonly Gator HydratorWith its string of playful names and its retro-preppy packaging, Body Moose Honey Harmony Gator Hydrator would be easy to dismiss as a merely “fun” treat for the body. However, as soon as I actually smelled and touched this product, I forgot all about alligators and bumblebees and pink-and-green polka dots, and I realized that it’s actually a serious and sensual moisturizer for the body.

Gator Hydrator is a balm with an unusual texture: it feels solid but slightly spongy to the touch, like a piece of Turkish Delight dessert. It looks almost too thick to use. However, if you apply some pressure and scoop up a bit, the heat of your fingers will magically soften it into a spreadable, waxy paste. Its ingredients are sunflower oil, coconut oil, unbleached beeswax, organic shea butter, cyclomethicone (to seal in moisture), and fragrance; it’s a highly concentrated formula. I’ve been using the Hydrator on my elbows and heels, and it’s been exceptionally effective. As the weather cools, I’ll start applying it on my legs and arms for all-over softening.

Honey Harmony is Body Moose’s best selling scent, a gourmand blend of honey, almond, musk, and a touch of oatmeal that smells comforting and naughty at the same time. This scent gives a deep, lasting sweetness to the Gator Hydrator, and it layers well with my favorite honey fragrances, from decadent “O” perfume oil by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab to innocent Honey Gentle Water from L’Occitane. I might even try rubbing a tiny bit of the balm into my palms and applying it to the dry ends of my hair, for protective moisture with a day-long hint of honey. I’d be happy to try other Body Moose products with this scent, now that I’ve realized how addictive it is.

We shouldn’t ever judge a book by its cover, of course, and Body Moose Honey Harmony Gator Hydrator is a body-care example of that maxim. Its packaging might say “chick lit,” but the actual product feels (and smells) more like literary fiction with a practical yet humorous tone.

Honey Harmony Gator Hydrator sells for $8 for a 4 oz. jar through the Body Moose website.

It *is* a funny assortment of nouns, at first glance! At least it doesn't promise, uh, “enlargement” or ask you to send money to a bank account in Nigeria!

I was very happy with the product. It's sweet-smelling and very therapeutic!

Sounds yummy and very reasonably priced. I'll have to check it out.

The scent really is delicious, and since the lotion is so concentrated, a little goes a long way!

I found Body Moose by accident a couple years ago, when I was looking for squalane moisturizer. I've used their Sweetwood products, and they are wonderful. Now I want to try the Honey Harmony.
Last time I did a search on Body Moose, there were almost no hits at all. I'm glad to see they're getting some attention. It's definitely deserved.

Hello E, I'd love to try some products in the Sweetwood scent, too! And I agree that this little brand deserves some more attention. The Gator Hydrator still amazes me, in terms of its scent *and* its formula. So effective!
