Kismet by YOSH ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 13 September 2007 4 Comments

Yosh Kismet perfume

YOSH is preparing to launch a new fragrance, Kismet:

Kismet, an Arabic term for twists of fate and turns of chance is a lush and glorious floral, opulent with narcissus, Roman chamomile, osmanthus and boronia. Seductive in its undertones of cedar and frankincense, with hints of hay and dill. Tumeric and ylang ylang give it a sense of mischief. Kismet: a perfume redolent of ancient mysteries, hidden gardens. Of destiny…and knowing.

Would it be Kismet…that the Chinese character for Yosh means “fragrant”?

YOSH Kismet will be exclusive to Barneys New York, and will be $150 for 8 ml perfume oil. (via press release from eaudeyosh)

This sounds pretty interesting–I wonder if it will mimic the new “Pallazzo” that was released by Fendi (kind of smells like that arabic “chakidra” soap that was popular in the 70's and still available in natural food stores, with herbal and grassy undertones).

Have to go look at Palazzo's notes, are they similar? Palazzo didn't float my boat :-)

I tried my sample of Kismet today. I resisted washing it off – the scent was intense and I think the cedar and frankincense was a bit overpowering. I usually love incense scents and I'm not afraid of strong scents. I let it go and waited. In about 20 minutes, that first overpowering aroma faded to a lovely floral (which I normally don't like). Some definite herbal undertones are probably keeping it from being too floral. I do like it but the price tag is way off for me. I can see others loving this and dropping the cash for this one. I highly recommend a sniff!

Lots of people loved this one — don't know why, but it just didn't suit me. Perhaps I need to give it another try, but agree, the price tag is out of my budget too.
