Yves Rocher is preparing to launch the third fragrance in its luxury Secrets d'Essences line (see Voile d'Ambre and Rose Absolue). Iris Noir is described as a "floriental scent over an iris-chypre base", and was developed by perfumers Olivier Pescheux (who also developed Voile d'Ambre) and Nathalie Gracia Cetto.
The notes for Iris Noir include bergamot, coriander, ambrette seed, iris, patchouli and tonka bean.
Yves Rocher Iris Noir will be available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum. It launches in France this October, but probably won't make it to the US until 2008. If we're lucky, we'll get the chance to buy a miniature for $3 (5 ml minis of Voile d'Ambre and Rose Absolue can be purchased online now at that price). Update: see a review of Yves Rocher Iris Noir.
Wow….. Iris seems to be the hot trend this year. We are going to Paris in November, I'll have to keep an eye out for this one.
Dawn
I love iris, so happy to see so many new ones this year! Not so very happy that I'm not going to Paris with you, LOL…
This sounds beautiful and I was prepared to take on another lemming until you mentioned my arch-nemesis: Tonka Bean. I have had more heartbreaking moments with the dreaded TB note than any other. I think I'm the only one in the world to have turned PdN's Vanille Tonka into an atomic, sour mess. And then there was Ta'if…That one still hurts…gorgeous rose until the drydown, then that same horrific sourness…Oh well.
Happy Labor Day, y'all!
Wow, you might be the first person I've heard of that hates tonka bean! What a shame, it is in sooo many things (and can't bear to think of Ta'if or VT as sour). Ah well, I suppose there are other fish to fry, right? You have a great Labor Day too!
Since I am very fond of both Voile d'Ambre and Rose Absolu, I am looking forward to Iris Noir! Hope it doesn't take forever to appear stateside, but there are enough other scents to keep busy with in the meantime. 🙂
The Ambre & Rose both took nearly a year, so not holding my breath for the iris — but you're right, I can hardly keep up w/ all the new things as it is!
It's astounding how Yves Rocher with the very modest budget and the non-natural resources (per their own word) manage to create floral scents that are amazingly true to life, isn't it?
So my expectations are set high on this one as well, especially since it mentions so many other delectable notes.
On the one hand, I am excited. On the other … is iris the new lychee? Or mango? Hey, I'm not complaining, let's enjoy it while we can.
Actually, coffee is the new lychee. The problem I'm having with coffee (have you smelled Belle Rykiel?) is it tends to dominate all the other notes. I feel like if you have one coffee fragrance you're done, you know?
Hope it will live up to your expectations 🙂
Gosh, iris almost is the new lychee. That isn't a happy thought.
Gave the BeR only a very quick sniff at Nordstrom, and can't remember anything about it. Will have to get a sample! I like coffee in some scents (Kyoto!)
