Fendi Palazzo, Wild Ginger by The Thymes ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 27 June 2007 28 Comments

Fendi Palazzo perfume

Fendi will launch Palazzo, a new fragrance for women, this coming September:

LVMH senior vice president olfactive development for perfumes François Demachy created the floral composition based on orange blossom, “an age-old flower that is strongly present in Mediterranean culture”, [Gabriella] Scarpa says. “We have used it in a different way, irreverent and decidedly modern.”

Additional notes include rose, tangerine, bergamot, lemon, pink pepper and jasmine. Fendi Palazzo is an Eau de Parfum and will be available in 30 and 90 ml.

This is easily my favorite bottle design so far this year. I want one! (image and quote via cosmeticnews, additional information via news.bg) Update: per Women's Wear Daily, Fendi Palazzo "is a flowery-woody scent", and the notes include mandarin orange, bergamot, lemon, pink pepper, orange blossom, jasmine, Bulgarian rose, patchouli and Gaiac wood. They report that the bottle sizes will be 50 and 90 ml.

The Thymes Wild Ginger fragranceThe Thymes has introduced Wild Ginger, a new fragrance which replaces the now-discontinued Ginger Milk line. Wild Ginger is...

Slightly Untamed, Entirely Uplifting

Radiating with positive energy, the bright, effervescent essence of ginger is fresh, open and inspiring…balanced with refreshing cucumber, creamy vanilla and spiked with a slice of Tahitian lime and Moro orange. Organic red clover and vitamin E add a touch of soothing moisture to make your skin as happy as your mood. Mist all over to keep you glowing throughout your day.

The Thymes Wild Ginger is available in 50 ml Cologne for $32 and in a wide range of bath, body and home fragrance products. (via newsletter from The Thymes)

I like that Fendi bottle, too, R!

And notice the lack of berry-type fruit in the description!

Isn't it gorgeous? If it is anywhere near that good looking in person, I might really have to buy it.

Not sure we've got a complete description yet, but so far, so good 🙂

I can't wait to smell that Fendi, I really like orange blossom so I will be half demented trying to find it.

I think I've liked every Fendi I've tried so far, Cinema, Theorema, Asja. So I lust mightily for this one!

Pink pepper makes me instantly suspicious.

Yup, “Want that Bottle” was my first thought. Bet it's only available with the 90ml, though.

I adore Theorema, and sad that it now sounds like all the previous Fendi scents are officially discontinued 🙁

True enough, although I actually like pink pepper — but the use of ubiquitous notes is never a good sign. But will hold out hope if only for the sake of the bottle 🙂

Heh, I'm not big on obviously “designed” bottles. I like those minimalist Mondrian squares, the sharp crystal facets and the simple cap. I could live if every perfume bottle in the world looked like a TDC bottle. I am also partial to the classic Chanel pour, a pleasing rectangle with the black turn cap, it has so much heft you can knock a person unconcious. I guess I'm in the minority here, but every time Bond No. 9 debuts a new bottle and everyone loves, just LOVES it, I just don't feel it. I like Jo Malone bottles for this reason as well.

Well, one of the thing about these more elaborately designed bottles is that sometimes they aren't nearly as nice in person as they are in pictures. More than once over the past year I've been sure I'd be dying to buy something, then saw it in person and thought “meh”.

Just tried the juice. Lovely, modern orange blossom up-front and a very plush, rich, thoroughly glamourous drydown. A Big Night Out scent. Sillage is terrific. Fendi lovers will not be disappointed!!!

What did you think of it, R.? Not as well-conceived as all that? Or not your cuppa?

Have to give it another try, but guessing not my cuppa.

It's not a shy little fragrance by any means, Robin, so I'm guessing your first impression will hold up. Well then, boldly on to the next juice!!! Fortunately, no shortage of candidates there. I can see fans of l'Instant, Cinema and Prada finding Palazzo very much their cuppa; to me, it has the same rich, thick, golden thing going on. For me, it's only my cuppa for a certain mood.

Fendi Palazzo does have a nice bottle, i do agree with that but the smell is too powdery.

I tried Palazzo and found it indeed a “warm and woodsy” floral on my skin. Quite liked it for about 10 minutes, until my wrist began to itch and I had to remove it. Wonder what the drydown would have been like?

I'll be no help, I hardly remember — just know I didn't like it.

I am lucky enough to try Palazzo with the soap, and body creme too. My Nordstrom's rep Jessica hooked me up! At first I didn't like it, but the dry down and sillage is wonderful, warm and powdery. And it mixed well with the smells of the world around me. Staying power was good, too. Tania Sanchez calls it delicious and strange, weirdly fresh and rich at once. . . that works for me!

Hello! Long time lurker and perfume newbie here! I love the opening notes to Palazzo – as well as the bottle 🙂 – but hate the dry down (and patchouli in general). Any suggestions for a fragrance with a similar opening?

Hi and welcome, and sorry to be no help on your very first comment — I'm afraid I barely remember Palazzo except that I didn't care for it. Might be worth posting a query on the fragrance board at MakeupAlley, maybe someone there can help?

I get plenty of woods with spicies. I find it very comforting. It is disappointing to me that the fragrance is being discontinued.
