Father's Day is now just around the corner. In case you're still looking for a last minute gift, here are a few more scented suggestions:
From Neiman Marcus, a Viktor & Rolf Antidote Book Set: "Antidote Eau de Toilette is about making the gray in everyday life cheerful". Can't argue with that. $65 (cheaper than the women's Flowerbomb set for Mother's Day, by the way) for 75 ml.
From Luckyscent, Comme des Garçons 2 in a pocket size — who doesn't need the smell of sumi ink in their pocket? Notes include Japanese sumi ink, incense, patchouli, cedarwood, angelica root, vetiver, magnolia, amber, labdanum, cumin, cade oil, absolute maté and absolute folia; 25 ml of Eau de Parfum, $50.
If Dad is too conventional for sumi ink, Prada Man might just fit the bill (and it is still one of my favorite releases from 2006): "Built on a platform of rich amber, this contrasting fragrance is subtly woven with the clean smell of barber's soap." From Sephora, a Prada Man gift set with 100 ml each Eau de Toilette and After Shave Balm, $68.
Or perhaps a fragrance inspired by Jules Verne? Histoires de Parfum's 1828 claims two inspirations actually, the other being a Pimm's cocktail: "Uniquely fresh and very masculine, 1828 opens with the vibrant citrus effects of grapefruit, Italian lemon, Mandarin orange, and Brazilian lime. This fresh citrus blends perfectly middle notes are all composed of rich, exotic spices like Siberian pine and vetiver linger in the base notes blended with incense, amber and white musk". $110 for 120 ml at Miomia.
At Beautyhabit, the latest from Molton Brown, Toko Yuzu: "Natural extract of yuzu fruit (citrus junos) is known to provide a natural anti-oxidant effect to protect the skin". 200 ml Enlivening Body Lotion ($25) and 300 ml Enlivening Bath & Shower Gel ($25), and add $25 more from Molton Brown to your cart and get a 100 ml Bath & Shower Gel (assorted scents) free with your order.
In the budget category, shaving soap sticks (to be used with a brush) from QED Man at Sesto-Senso. Made from Glycerin & Aloe Vera and available in six fragrances: Lavender, Bergamot, Lime, Frankincense & Myrrh, Rose Geranium, and Wild Orange: "Long lasting and providing an incredible lather, these products are truly hand-made and hand-poured". $8.95 each for 2 oz.
Prada Man, yes! You've made me run off to my decant/sample sanctuary to put a smidge of it on my wrist. Mmmm… Would spring for the set straightaway but need money for the summer holiday. Oh and don't get me started on the Antidote – a complete about-face for me; having emptied the absurdly miniature sample I had, now I pine for at least a 30 ml of the juice. Then there's also Terre d'Hermes staring at me from the “to-buy” list. And Guerlain Heritage. And ISM. And L'Homme de Coeur. And… it's breaking my heart.
Seeing you like wearing men's scents, have you tried L'Eau Bleue d'Issey (I know Marlen reviewed it at NST) and Habit Rouge?
I try not to even look at my “to buy” list — and it works. I never decide on anything so I never buy anything 🙂
Will have to try Antidote again. Thought it was nice but that I didn't need it. But would happily take bottles of ISM (of course) and *anything* from Divine.
Unless I'm forgetting something, the only IM I have tried is L'Eau d'Issey, isn't that terrible? Have samples of the Bleue & Feu waiting patiently. Do like Habit Rouge!
I've recently purchased a full bottle of Antidote. Used it 4-5 times. Would be willing to part with it for fair price. Please contact me at maraujo@charter.net if interested.
Do try it again–I must have had a stomach bug or something when I first tried Antidote since it made me retch. It was weeks later that I discovered how lovely it really was. The drydown is especially nice. In some ways it even reminds me of Prada Man.
Yes, the original L'Eau d'Issey (women's) is horrible! Well, it's not so much that it's that terrible as I think I was traumatized into hating it, having once nearly hurled on the plane because the flight attendant had obviously doused herself in it. Thank god the flight was only half an hour long. 🙂
Yes, that's me completely sucking at attaching tags…
No — its my lousy blog that doesn't convert html 🙂
If Antidote reminded you of Prada, will certainly give it another go!
