Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 6 June 2007 6 Comments

Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime fragranceCrabtree & Evelyn has launched West Indian Lime, a new fragrance for men:

Fresh limes - native to the islands of the British West Indies - inspire this invigorating tonic that blends tropical limes, lemons and mandarins with aromatic nutmeg, clove and coriander. A timeless classic.

Additional notes include orange blossom, vetiver, juniper, cedar and sandalwood.

Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime is sold in 100 ml Cologne ($40) or 300 ml Body Wash ($18). It is available now on the Crabtree & Evelyn website, and should be in stores by mid-month.

I'm a sucker for that combination, even if it is for men. I find that a lot of men's scents steer clear of the Lifesaver sweetness and get some interesting tartness into their scents. In general, Crabtree and E doesn't last on me at all, but, as usual, probably worth a sniff.

    This isn't new, R-

It's bringing back one of the classics that they sold in the 70's…

They came in lovely bottles, with cork stoppers that leaked EVERYWHERE.

I loved this, and look forward to a good sniff…

[Will let you know if it's been 'altered' !]

I'll give it a try too. The other West Indian Limes (mind slow this morning, but I think it is Trumpers?) doesn't last on me either.

Just discovered your blog last week and am loving it. I've recently started to indulge in a latent fragrance-mania, I've found a lot of your reviews helpful, and I'm started to buy a variety of samples from other websites to indulge this latest interest.

Anyway, I eagerly noted this new launch by C&E, as I've been nursing a bottle from the mid-1990s of a discontinued scent of theirs called “Essence of Sicilian & West Indian Lime.” I'm not as into it as I once was, but I wondered how this new product would compare. I don't have a C&E store locally here in Santa Barbara, but I'm curious to sample this at some point. Look forward to seeing what you think if you end up reviewing it.

Hi & welcome! I'm afraid I haven't had the chance to smell it yet. Geo. F Trumper (in the UK) also makes a West Indian Lime, and it is nicely done although not terribly long lasting. Will see if I can get into C&E to try this one soon, but admittedly am not shopping as much as usual this summer :-)
