Hmmmm, they SOUND pretty fem – but I remember the original set of Gap Scents being packaged in a gender-neutral mode……I used to wear “Heaven” and the “Grass” was pretty nice too. The packaging looks non-specific, so I wonder if these are gonna be for “her” or all of us?

I'm surprised by the notes for 'Moon Walk'–paperwhites and suede. And Night Fall, too. Any time a mainstream store sells something with an incense note my ears perk up. But then Gap used to sell OM, so perhaps it's not so new for them.

I really enjoyed the Gap fragrances of yesteryear–I own Heaven, Dream, Grass, Earth, and Om…so these might be worth smelling.

I never wore Grass, Heaven, etc., but for a little while there last year the Gap had a mix-and-match layering series of fragrances in pen applicators that were quite nice for the price. They were discontinued, sadly, but I liked the Crushed Peony, Sandalwood and Sueded Musk. These sound likeable, particularly Moonwalk and the dewier ones – I hope they're not all too sweet.

The descriptions do sound very feminine — certainly none of them sound like they're trying to sell to men, but agree the packaging is pretty unisex.

I don't know if there is a Gap Body store near me and so far, these aren't in regular Gap stores. So let me know if you smell them!

Those were cute! These all sound soooo light, and unfortunately the EdTs don't sound as appealing to me as the Body Mists. But we'll see!

years ago, at around the age of 12, i wore a perfume called heaven by a company called mottura. it was available at an uncharacteristically chic little gift/home objects store called hello world in buffalo, where i grew up. i thought it was incredibly stunning and expressed exactly who i was in scent form – or at least who i wanted to be. a beautiful white floral but airy and fresh. it really was heavenly. i wore it every day for years, and people always asked me what it was and complimented it. imagine my horror when i was at the mall one day, browsing around the gap, and saw a perfume called heaven. i smelled it and was in shock – they had stolen my esoteric boutique perfume and turned it into a cheap mass market product! i guess they must have bought the mottura company and started selling the scents under their own name. (mottura had made the grass scent as well, also available at hello world.) i was literally devastated! for years! luckily i soon discovered aedes de venustas in new york and my taste became a little more sophisticated – i fell in love with l'artisan tubereuse and creed tubereuse indiana, both of which i wear to this day. (now of course the gap, and every other store at the mall, sells a tuberose scent as well! ugh!)

by the way, does the gap still sell heaven or has it been phased out?

I know this is a very old posting but… I also found Moturra Heaven in a little shop in Miami Beach in the early 90’s, and wore it for a few years… Was horrified to find it gone one day but unlike some, overjoyed to find that the Gap had purchased the company. I have been wearing it ever since. It is a bit odd for a man to wear this scent, but anyone that sniffs me thinks I smell amazing. I am always in a bit of fear that it may one day get discontinued. I wear nothing else. I have never found anything else I like as much. I do think they have fiddled a bit with the formula. I think it smells a bit different than it did originally, but I still love it. People don’t ever recognize the smell no matter how mass produced it is, and no joke, think I smell heavenly!

Interesting, I've never heard that story! Gap does still sell Heaven, but I think Grass got discontinued.

Wow! That's a great array of fragrances but I barely know some of them. Do you have anything basic for bath salts, like lavender or something.

There might be a misunderstanding — this isn't a Gap website, I was just reporting on these scents. So “we” don't have anything at all, basic or not.

I also used mottura. Back in '94, when I was 22, I discovered it at an oddball pharmacy in Greenwich Village. The gap did buy Moturra but only produced four of the scents from their collection: Grass, Earth, Heaven, and Day. Moturra had a scent called Night, and one called Ice that gap didn't bother with. I bought Ice in lotion form, it came in aluminum packaging and had Eucalyptus as its base. Gap's original line included little cube glycerin soaps, and regular larger bars. They sold little square stainless steel soap dishes made in India for the glycerine soaps. The soaps themselves came in white boxes with the logos printed on them. I had a set. When Moturra made the soap for Night, it was black. Moturra was also base out of San Fransisco…

Well you've certainly got me remeniscing.
