Coming in May from Bath & Body Works, two limited edition fragrances for Mother's Day. Moonlight Path (shown) and Sweet Pea, two classic scents from the Signature Collection, have been reformulated as Eau de Parfums in (lovely!) new collectible bottles:
Moonlight Path is described as...
Mysterious. Romantic. Alluring. To create this lush and romantic interpretation, our master perfumers have carefully blended the scent of lavender, roses and violets with purple orchid and mandarin leaf.
Additional notes include bergamot, black currant, jasmine, lilac, lily, ylang ylang, heliotrope, soft powdery musks, amber, tonka bean, patchouli and vanilla.
Sweet Pea is described as...
Flirtatious. Playful. Enticing. To create this playful and complex interpretation, our master perfumers have carefully blended the scent of pink sweet pea petals and sparkling violets with plum wood, red apple and bergamot.
Additional notes for Sweet Pea include blue freesia, Madonna lily, orange blossom, sandalwood, creamy musk and heliotrope.
Bath & Body Works Moonlight Path and Sweet Pea are $28 each for 100 ml Eau de Parfum, or $19.50 for 180 ml Luxe Body Creme with shea butter. (via press release from Bath & Body works) Update: see a review of Bath & Body Works Sweet Pea.
And finally, a tidbit of news about the long-rumored new fragrance release from Sarah Jessica Parker. According to Women's Wear Daily, it is called "Covet Sarah Jessica Parker", but I think we'll just call it "Sarah Jessica Parker Covet" just to keep our sentiments clear. The only clues about the fragrance itself: a "fougère on estrogen"; the "peridot-hued bottle has a gold herringbone neck and a jeweled top". Macy's (drat!) will have an exclusive starting in July, it rolls out elsewhere in August. Update: see a review of Sarah Jessica Parker Covet.
How about, 'Covet Sarah Jessica Parker at Neimans”…sounds much better 🙂
Honestly, I just didn't 'get' Lovely, even though many people I admire (Chandler Burr included) have gone GAGA over it…maybe Covet will change my mind.
ooh! I like fougeres! and I like estrogen, lol! It sounds promising, at the very least.
The whole “covet SJP”comment and especially your bracketed monosyllabic gripe toward the end just about sent me rolling on the floor, LOL! Perhaps they'll be nice(r) to you next time? Good luck! 🙂
Lovely was well… very lovely. I hope she does it even better with this new one (not naming it, LOL)!
Well, I would say I admire Lovely but don't have any desire to wear it. It is highly unusual for a celebrity scent — even more so after the deluge of sweet fruity florals since it was released — and I think they did a good job on it. Doubt I'm going to like a fougere on estrogen (love the phrase though) but we'll see!
LOL — I like estrogen too! And I like some fougeres. Depends on how heavy they do the lavender, assuming there is any lavender.
LOL — maybe I'll do a 5 part series on my efforts to get a sample of Covet from Macy's!
great Idea, R. lol!!
Too bad you couldn't hide a hidden camera in your hat and film every attempt and then montage it. It would be the most hysterical thing ever!!
Although, you're not too far away from me, maybe I'll come along and set up in the jewelry dept with a mega-zoom mini camera, haha.
LOL, the way things are you've got better chances of getting a sample from the much coveted lady herself! 🙂
MD, you are the MIchael Moore of perfumery! What a great idea, LOL!
Wow, that bottle for Moonlight Path looks like a cross between the new Crabtree & Evelyn Lost / Found bottles and one of the plaid Brit bottles.
There is nothing new under the sun in bottle design anymore. 😉
There is a lot of truth in that!
Mark David, it would be hysterical, yes, but guessing it would be more productive for me to wait in Starbucks while you ask for a sample for your wife, LOL…
J, just went to peek at the C&E bottles, and yes, I can see the mashup with Brit — still, at least these are pretty, and so many are just dull!
Thou shalt not Covet…oh, the jokes, the jokes we can come up with, thank you Sarah Jessica.
M, the advertising apparently features SJP behind bars with the idea that she committed a crime to get her hands on the scent…it will be massively comical if the scent is a crime!
But based on Lovely, doubt that will happen, and we'll probably have to stick with jokes based on the name 🙂
we could try both and then you could write an article about which worked better, haha.
