Olivier Durbano Rock Crystal & Amethyst, Sarah Horowitz Beauty Comes From Within ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 8 April 2007 Leave a Comment

Olivier Durbano Amethyst perfumeNew at Luckyscent, two fragrances from French jeweler Olivier Durbano, who started his "Bijoux de Pierres Poèmes" (vaguely, Stone Poem Jewels) collection in 2000. The two are the beginnings of a projected series of 7 perfumes, "each one unearthing fragments of buried memories and emotions, the scents themselves linking to precious or primitive stones".

Cristal de Roche / Rock Crystal launched in 2005:

Frankincense, a resinous substance venerated for centuries in places of worship, is thought to carry prayers uttered by mortals towards the heavens. Durbano brings this to the forefront of Cristal de Roche, as incense and resins of frankincense, olibanum, benzoin and myrrh rise like columns of deeply fragrant smoke to symbolise the joining of heaven and earth. A rich, deep scent, Cristal is not for the faint of heart; it’s a marriage of moody woods, deep incenses and dried spices, a perfume for lovers of deep and “churchy” fragrances – for those who love deep gold brocades and dark red satins versus crisp white linens and freshly starched cottons…for those who love the scented rituals of mankind in search of the divine.

Additional notes for Olivier Durbano Rock Crystal include orange, pepper, coriander, cardamom, cumin, cistus, sandalwood, cedar, vetiver, everlasting flower, oakmoss and musk. The Eau de Parfum is $105 for 100 ml.

Amethyst (shown) was introduced in late 2006:

Durbano’s interpretation of amethyst into perfume form has made for a deeply peaceful, mysterious scent that debuts with a surprising pepper and fruit mix before it slowly swirls into palisander wood and the silky powder notes of orris. A soft amber, sandalwood, musk and vanilla are the base upon which this purifying scent is built upon, playing upon your senses with their sweet and musky natures and sending you to a place of contemplation and reverie.

Additional notes for Olivier Durbano Amethyst include bergamot, grape, raspberry, incense and jasmine. The Eau de Parfum is $105 for 100 ml. (quotes via Luckyscent, additional information via brefonline) Update: see a review for Olivier Durbano Amethyst.

Beauty Comes From Within is new from Sarah Horowitz of Creative Scentualization, and will launch this month at Barneys. Beauty Comes From Within...

...can be worn alone or layered with Love. Voluptuous and inviting with top notes of ripe, red plum and fresh cut grass suggest both the vitality of springtime and nurturing, abundant female energy. Bold, regal middle notes of creamy gardenia and tender pink peony are ignited by a fresh, earthy spark of citrus rock rose to electrify the aura of the remembrance of the first kiss.

Beauty Comes From Within will be $95 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum. (via press release from Creative Scentualization) Other "What Comes From Within" scents: Peace, Light & Love and Joy.
