Sanrio Momoberry ~ new fragrance at Luckyscent

Posted by Robin on 22 March 2007 10 Comments

Sanrio MomoberryTwo years ago, Sanrio opened a new concept store, Momoberry, described as "...Hello Kitty with a twist - breezy, quirky, stylish, a little older, surprisingly sophisticated and of course very pink." Now they've launched a fragrance. Momoberry was created by Tristan Brando of Monyette Paris,

“Momo” translated from Japanese, means ‘peach’ or ‘pink’, but that does not mean this is a bubble gum, candy-like scent. Momoberry is infused with island florals such as frangipani blossoms, red hibiscus, star jasmine and gardenia then followed by hints of Tahitian vanilla, sandalwood, coconut, and the thinnest veil of musk, topped off with a splash of sun ripened guava. Momoberry is flirty, sexy and yet manages to be somewhat alluring.

Additional notes include fig and pineapple. Sanrio Momoberry is $45 for 10 ml perfume oil, and is available now at luckyscent. (first quote via momoberry, second via luckyscent)

Gardenia and coconut….. 2 notes I canNOT do.

I wonder how this perfume will do sales wise? I'll have to check it out next time I'm at our local mall. There is a Sanrio shop there.

I'm actually suprised LuckyScent is carrying it. Interesting. What is your thought on that?

    Have a wonderful day. :)

I don't know if it is in “regular” Sanrio stores or not — might only be in the newer Momoberry stores (?)

Would guess Luckyscent has it because it is done by Tristan Brando, and Monyette Paris & Coquette Tropique have lots of fans who'll perhaps like this new one. Would be curious to see a Momoberry store, actually, it seems like a bit of a stretch to get Sanrio to appeal to an older age group in the US, at least. But what do I know, perhaps they are raking it in :-)

The first thing I thought when I saw this was — my god! Now there actually is a Hello-Kitty-pink-sparkly-fresh-fruity fragrance! Victoria is a prophetess! But then, I'd always suspected she was a bit on the supernatural side anyway…

The store is pink overload. Super-girly with upmarket Hello Kitty merchandise. I wonder how young girls can afford the overpriced trinkets.

Interestingly enough, the Momoberry store at Beverly Center has a scent bar at which you can mix your own fragrance using oils. It seemed to me that all the oils were fruity and sweet.

Trying to imagine “upmarket Hello Kitty merchandise” and failing, so will have to hope they open one on the East Coast so I can check it out!

OMG!OMG!OMG! (Say this loud with a Valley Girl accent please.)

I'm so there. Because Hello Kitty in a Satan costume has my soul. Because back when I was a wee eeti beeti child my I would get a nice new Sanrio something (usally mechanical pen or pencil) for every good report card and anything Sanrio makes me unbearably nostalgic.

Although, perusing the site, they've blown it with the packaging there. Wouldn't you rather have this perfume (however atrocious) in a cute little purse charm flacon (perhaps 1.5 inch width) the shape of Miss Kitty's adorable face? This can be equally cool hooked onto a Prada handle or a Mead carry-all folder.

I used to have a protractor with Hello Kitty stencil cut-out. Oh sweet youth where art thou!

LOL — I have a soft spot for Sanrio too, although I don't think I knew about the line until I was a wee bit older than the target market. I think they could have done way better on the packaging too — but perhaps this is to appeal to an older audience. But little irony there, and we could all use a little irony :-)

ooooooh the store is totally pink, no doubt- but it is not for little girls pocketbooks- it is not for little girls at all!! it is for adults with a serious love for anything Kitty. and the scent bar, tho unusual to see in there has a TON of different scents!! I know i have tried the lavendar, english cucumber and so many more i dont have time to write them- but try it again- there are some dynamite scents! word is Tristan Brando developed them too as an exclusive test.
