Delices de Cartier Fraicheur Fruitee fragranceCartier has launched a new variation on last year's Délices de Cartier perfume: Délices de Cartier Eau Fruitée, described as a "a sparkling fragrant pleasure for the woman with a playful unpredictability". The notes include bergamot, mandarin, "an enhancement of rhubarb", morello cherry, jasmine, sandalwood and amber. Why do they do this? Ok, never mind we know why. But doesn't it serve to diminish the original? I think so. Even more so when introduced so soon. I am very disappointed.

Why the …? Does Delices really need to be fruitier or girlier? How mystifying it is how these companies do things. I wonder what the decision making process is on some of these flankers.

V & K, I was somewhat mystified by this too, given that DdC is already available in EdT and is already pretty darned fruity. Guessing from the “enhanced rhubarb” that they've tried to “summer it up”, and actually, in this case, if that means *less* sweet, I might like it better than the original.

I completely agree. My first thought was how — and why — would they make this fruitier? The first was borderline overkill, but I've finally grown to like it and now they throw another one at us. I'd like to see what they've done with it and whether you're right about “sumering it up.”

I'm curious too. If they've made it any fruitier and/or sweeter than it already was though, I'm gonna hate it.

The original one is really boring and unsophisticated for a Cartier. Imagine this version… Gum for me. A hug from a brazilian reader! :)

It didn't do much for me either, but I don't like fruity florals much to begin with. LOL at Gum!! And what are the big fragrances in Brazil at the moment?

We can find almost all the big brands here, except those interesting “niche” parfum houses, like Frederic Malle and Serge Lutens. We have also good options from brazilian brands, like 'Natura' and 'O Boticário'. Natura has a good line called “Ekos”, inspired in Amazon's scents. :) Samples are really difficult to find over here. We just can't wear heavier fragrances, because it's always really hot (it's always summer where I live). My choice for today is Hermès Eau de Merveilles, and sometimes even this one smells like “too much”. :)

Well, I am jealous if Eau des Merveilles is too much: I love heat and detest cold.

Someone just wrote to me about a new Vetiver from O Boticario, packaged with real vetiver root in the box. It sounded wonderful, and hoping the line will eventually get distributed in the US.

It's called “Vetiver Brasil” and it's suitable for men, but I've never smelled it. I think O Boticario is the most popular brand in Brazil. You can find a store almost everywhere. :)

I adore Vetiver and have no problem with masculine, so hope it will get to the States…thanks!
