Perfume babble for a Tuesday

Posted by Robin on 14 November 2006 12 Comments

There doesn't appear to be any big perfume news today (imagine!) and I am not in the mood to review anything. I am wearing the new Eau de Parfum concentration of Delrae Debut, and as this is one of my (many) favorite fragrances, I am happy to report that while it is richer and fuller, and the floral notes seem to linger considerably longer, it is not drastically different from the original Eau de Toilette (which will apparently no longer be produced). I will update my original review of Debut after I've had a chance to test the lasting power.

By the way, if you love Diorissimo but have never tried Debut, well, you should. It is interesting to see how father and son approach similar themes. And, if you love Diorissimo but have never tried it in the parfum, well, you should do that too. A friend kindly gave me a sample and it is just stunningly beautiful. It is at Saks for $125 for 15 ml, and perhaps I am just becoming jaded but that strikes me as a more than reasonable price for stunningly beautiful.

What an interesting photo. I love the fact that it's totally unrelated to anything today. That's rather refreshing. :):)

The Debut EdP is so similar to the EdT, just maybe a tad rounder or richer. They are both absolutely delightful!

    Hugs!

That's funny, I'm having a migraine too. Not so bad that I didn't get your package in the mail, though (you haven't moved, I hope?!)
I'm giving Jil Sander Sensations a test drive… comfort scent.

R, I am so relieved…was afraid they would do something more drastic, or make it as rich as Amoureuse or Bois de Paradis. It is just right :-)

Ouch, I'm so sorry! Hope you will feel better soon.

Have never tried a single JS! Not sure I've ever even seen one in person.

I was gazing at that Diorissimo parfum on the Saks web site all evening yesterday. What I want to know is whether the new formulation is that stunning. I guess I'll have to just walk over to the store, and see if I can test it.

I have never smelled the vintage, and in this case, ignorance is almost surely bliss — this smells fabulous, and I'd just as soon not know how much better it used to smell!

I completely forgot about it! Now, I definitely need to seek out that EDP. :)

Agree that Diorissimo parfum is stunning. I need to re-sample Debut. I forgot it was created by Michel Roudnitska.

I think this new EdP version will actually find more fans than the EdT, although I liked the EdT very much.

I love reading your blog every day. I own several bottles of vintage Diorissimo, both in cologne and EDT. The vintage is very different from the current formulation, as the lily of the valley is much more prominent, and there is a — for lack of a better word — cleaner feel to it. I also own the current incarnation, and while it is nice, it is not the same as the vintage, which is amazingly beautiful. The vintage is readily available online through ebay, not terribly expensive, and worth pursuing.

Your blog is such a fabulous source of information. I read it every day and learn something new every day. Thank you!!!!

Thanks so much for the nice words, I appreciate it very much :-)

Ah, I knew the vintage would be more beautiful. I just feel that I can't let myself start down the vintage road…there are too many fragrances that I adore, and it would end with me in the poorhouse, LOL…
