"Artificial Noses and the Secret of Smell" on BBC Radio 4

Posted by Robin on 2 June 2006 3 Comments

The June 1 episode of The Material World, a science show on BBC Radio 4, features a piece on "Artificial Noses and the Secret of Smell" and includes a discussion with Luca Turin, author of The Secret of Scent. Many thanks to J of Slap of the Day for the news!

Update: there is also a review of Secret of Scent in today's Independent online.

I downloaded the show and FF'd to the midway point and heard the intro, and turned it off before Luca came on because the announcer is just so.damned.annoying. I'll go back later to listen when I have some time, but that announcer really needs to lay off the caffeine and cliches. Too much for early morning.I am looking forward to the show, so thanks for the link, Robin.

LOL! Quentin Cooper may be an acquired taste (he's very fond of bad puns), but Material World is always a stimulating programme (which goes out in the middle of the afternoon in the UK, so no early-morning jolt for us).

Do try and listen, but skip to the last 10 minutes: the perfume discussion ends the prog. It's worth it. :-)
