New fragrance for men from Hermes

Posted by Robin on 15 December 2005 12 Comments

The next Hermès fragrance release will be Terre d’Hermès, an Eau de Toilette for men created by in-house nose Jean Claude Ellena:

The vegetable and mineral juice, made without animal by-products or musk, sparkles with orange (specifically formulated for Hermès by Albert Vieille) and grapefruit that blends with flint for a mineral note, and combines with pepper, bay rose, geranium, patchouli, bezoin and vetiver around the central note of Atlas cedar to enhance its Earthly tones. (via cosmeticnews)

No word yet on when this will be in stores. Update: see a review of Terre d'Hermes.

Why is it that I get so excited by the news of a new Hermes, even if I know it is probably going to be not to my taste at all? :-) Vegetable juice? This is going to be too healthy for me LOL

M, LOL! I was surprised by the “vegetable” thing. Sounds more like a citrusy-mineral scent, doesn't it?

Very little in that description that sounds appealing to me in the least other than the fact that it's created by Jean Claude Ellena…and that is how pathetic a fan I am. I will be certain to try it as soon as it comes out and do my best to find something positive in a vegetable grapefruit juice with flint.

I am the same pathetic fan. If it is by JCE, I am predisposed to like it just on those grounds alone :-)

and this is the actor they have chosen to represent the new Hermes man…I approve, very much so :-) (and I am pathetic LOL)

Very interesting news! When it's a Hermes release, one knows that it's going to be quality juice even if it doesn't exactly appeal. I just hope that he doesn't put in any of his watery notes.

    Wearable V8!

I'll smell it. We'll see. I wasn't excited about Osmanthe Yunnan in the end. He's becoming more of a watercolorist with each release at Hermès. I thought it strange that a firm that relies on its classic, sturdy leather goods and bold silk twill scarves should be aiming for such lightweight fragrances. But I'm judging before I sniff, which is wrong. :)

True enough B, I liked many of the Hermes scents before Jean Claude Ellena, and I like even more of them now…even the watery ones ;-)

T, True, but I like the watercolor-y things. And Hermes has done lightweight before — look at Eau d'Orange Vert, which is probably one of their biggest sellers. Trying to decide if Hiris is lightweight…probably not quite.

Another pathetic and faithful fan of JC-Ellena, as you know…I hope this scent will be soon available, and I also like the new Hermés man…I know, I know, pathetic…

I am hearing March now, and keeping my fingers crossed that it will live up to all our expectations ;-)
