Carlos Santana perfume for women

Carlos Santana’s debut fragrance for women was released this year, and features notes of neroli, California pear skin, cassis, coconut water, freesia, Japanese plum, calla lily accord, iris, chocolate, musk, and sandalwood.

The fragrance starts off with a burst of neroli, but that fades quickly into sweet fruits over floral notes…

Too many Hummer fragrances & other perfume news

A writer in the San Francisco Chronicle professes some dismay over the fact that there are now two Hummer fragrances:

All of which begs the obvious, painful question: Who, pray, is buying this stuff? And perhaps more importantly, what woman is attracted to it? Who in their right mind looks at Hummer cologne and says, “Whoa, dude, a scent based on a hulking, low-grade, environmentally devastating, gas-sucking, oil-belching, horribly designed vehicle that just screams, ‘I don’t give a damn about anything or anyone, and, by the way, screw the baby seals too.’ That is exactly how I want to smell.” (via San Francisco Chronicle)

Christian Dior Poison revisited

As a fragrance I grew up with, used by teachers, friends, and family members, I’m startled to realize that I have no associations with this aroma, either negative or positive. So…I can enjoy this scent for myself without it eliciting any tainted memories. And enjoy it I do. Somewhere between a triangle of incense, cough syrup, and tanning lotion lies the olfactory pyramid for Poison. I’ve always had a thing for fragrances that are either sweet or powdery, but on my skin, Poison is both and it’s the only 1980s powerhouse women’s scent that I’ll actually wear on my 30-something male skin…

B-glowing is accepting pre-orders for the new Miriam Mirani Jewels of Aqaba scents (see description from Monday).

Beautycafe is now accepting pre-orders for Bond no. 9 Bleecker Street and the Chinatown candle.

New at hamptonct: The Rancé line.

New at luckyscent: The il Profumo line and Maître Parfumeur et Gantier for women & men.

Scentiments is temporarily offline due to Hurricane Wilma.

Nicole Richie perfume launch & other fragrance news

Ready for another celebrity perfume? Nicole Richie is planning to launch her first, possibly titled "Different". (via contactmusic)

Designer Alberta Ferretti plans to launch a new perfume, and Anna Sui is working on her first fragrance for men. The Juicy Couture brand will also debut their first scent late next year. (via Women's Wear Daily)

Askmen.com has a list of "6 Hot Colognes" for men: 2 for daytime, 2 for the office, and 2 for evening wear.
