Home fragrance: Keiko Mecheri Loukhoum candle

Posted by Victoria on 29 September 2005 2 Comments

Keiko Mecheri Loukhoum candleOne needs not rub the lamp in order to release a genie, for a mere touch of flame to the wick of the Keiko Mecheri Loukhoum candle would suffice. Like the eponymous fragrance, Loukhoum is redolent of amber, hawthorn blossoms, almonds, vanilla and musk. A sweet note of rose petal jam lends a gourmand touch that on the skin envelops the wearer in cashmere shawl-like warmth. In the air, the same luscious and sensual scent has a scintillating quality, vacillating between maraschino cherry encrusted with almond shavings and amber layered white blossoms.

Despite the presence of sweet gourmand notes, the scent of Loukhoum candle does not translate into cloying. It sustains the lovely base notes of the fragrance — balsamic vanilla, milky almond and translucent rose accord, while lasting remarkably well. The oriental quality of the scent is wonderfully soothing and seductive, making Loukhoum a perfect candle to burn in the evening. The excellent throw and long slow burn are additional positive qualities of Keiko Mecheri candles.

The Loukhoum candle is presented in a white opal glass tumbler, which looks very elegant and minimalist. A 7 oz candle is $45. For buying information, see the listing for Keiko Mecheri under Perfume Houses.

I had no idea this candle existed. On to my “to buy” list it goes…I love Loukhoum the fragrance, but we have a difficult on-off relationship, sometimes it overwhelms me to the point of me feeling quite ill, mostly it is incredibly gorgeous on my skin…but the candle…that should always work, right? The candle lemming is born.

I know what you mean about Loukhoum (which I retested thanks to your recommendation!) The candle never overwhelms me. It just sustains the beautiful basenotes throughout.
