Dior Homme by Christian Dior, Chantal Thomass Sexy Summer & more new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 22 August 2005 8 Comments

Christian Dior Dior Homme fragrance for menMore on the upcoming release for men from Christian Dior, Dior Homme:

The core ingredient in the Dior Homme fragrance, developed with Olivier Polge of IFF, is the iris flower. This is blended with cocoa and amber to give the scent a powdery accord and other elements include sage, lavender and bergamot essential oils for an aromatic accord, while vetiver and patchouli essential oils make up the woody base. Update: see a review of Christian Dior Dior Homme.

Chantal Thomass has released a limited edition summer fragrance, Sexy Summer, with mandarin, pear, grapefruit, freesia, lotus, amber and musk. Already available at escentual.co.uk.

Mat; Very Male by Masaki Matsushima is now available at sephora, and features a Sambucca Accord along with bergamot, aquatic freshness accord, lotus flower, bamboo, precious woods, patchouli, liquorice wood, and cedar. Update: see a review of Maskaki Matsushima Mat; Very Male.

Given the other snore that was the previous Angel Schlessers (female and male) I can't say I'm exactly chomping at the bit about that news.

But I quite enjoyed the mat;male, so I suspect I'm going to have to see if my Nordstroms has the ;very male in yet. (God knows I do love a wee nip of Sambucca to drink every so often, too, so that ought to be fun to sniff in perfume.)

Hi K, I am still making up my mind about AF Femme, I kind of like it but something about it keeps it from being something I would buy. Haven't tried the male version.

Love anise in perfume, so will look for the Very Male too, and the name would be awfully fun to offer to someone who asked what I was wearing 🙂

I cannot wait to try Dior Homme–iris flower and cocoa sounds like an interesting combination. I also would love to wear Very Male just to be able to tell someone that it is what I am wearing, but I am afraid of acquatic freshness accord, which probably means calone.

Aquatic freshness accord scares me too, V, despite today's feature scent. Can't make up my mind if iris+cocoa sounds nice or disgusting! We shall see 🙂

The male version of AS is superior. It's got that same crisp green note (they call it shisu leaf in the male, and green pepper in the female), but the cedar rides along much more smoothly. The AS femme just reminded me too much of a root cellar for me to cozy up to it. So, uh, I guess I'm obviously not such a big fan of it.

I didn't consider that about the Very Male. Oh well, I still wear Cumming, so I'd bet if the juice is good I won't care 🙂

Thanks K, I will have to look for the male AS. The female smells very vegetal to me, but not exactly root cellar…maybe I need to give it another try.

Dior Homme, love it infact bought a bottle. Women really like this one,let them test it blind and they think it is a feminine fragrance.

soft powdery iris and then sandalwood

I tried it and did not love it — a bit too sweet for me — but it is very well done and agree completely that it is not overly masculine at all.
