More Pecksniff’s: Fresh Citrus & White Floral

Continuing with yesterday’s discussion of the Pecksniff’s line, today I am testing Fresh Citrus and White Floral.

The Fresh Citrus features notes of grapefruit, lime, amoise, lavender, vetiver, marine essence, nutmeg, oakmoss, sandalwood, and musk. This starts a slightly sweet citrus, with a masculine edge from the combination of the lime and lavender. The “marine essence” is very light at the start, but grows considerably in intensity as it dries down. I did not find the actual citrus notes to be very long lasting. After an hour or so, it is mostly sandalwood with a touch of marine. This is listed as a men’s fragrance, and while I rarely let that deter me, it does in fact remind me of aftershave. Will be curious to hear what others think of this one — if you’ve tried it, do comment! And if you know what amoise is, enlighten me, please.

White Floral has notes of orange blossom, bergamot, ylang, gardenia, tuberose, jasmine, cedar, musk and moss…

Two chypre fragrances from Pecksniff’s

Pecksniffs Green Chypre fragrance

Pecksniff’s is a fragrance house based in Brighton, England. I know very little about them other than what information is available on their website: they are an independent, family owned company that has been in business for around 20 years. Lusciouscargo has recently started carrying the line and last night I tried two of their scents: Classic Chypre and Green Chypre.

Classic Chypre has notes of ylang ylang, basil, galbanum, jasmine, cardamom, clove, vetiver, vanilla, moss and patchouli. The basil lends an unusual touch to the top notes, which are otherwise sweet, heady florals. The spices are subdued, and while it is nowhere near as heavy as the notes might suggest, it is very, very sweet…
