Lavanila has a bunch of new scents in their "healthy" deodorant line since we last checked in. (Back in 2013, Jessica said the Lavanila Fresh Vanilla Lemon was her favorite deodorant; and she gave Vanilla Breeze Sport Luxe Deodorant good marks for hot weather.) Shown is the new Vanilla + Fire, from their Elements collection: "This warm and exotic blend of red ginger, wild orange, and soft vanilla ignites your inner power and energy. A natural vanilla fire deodorant."$14 for 57g. Also new is a Vanilla Eucalyptus probiotic deodorant, and I think I read somewhere that a Vanilla Spring scent is due to launch this year (Vanilla Winter features balsam fir and mint.)

My part of the world has entered the so-called dog days of summer, which means I’m thinking about a mundane item like deodorant more than usual; and, as a scent-obsessive, I can’t use even the most basic body product without thinking about its fragrance. I used to buy antiperspirants at the drugstore, and any unscented variety would do. However, since I converted to deodorants a few years ago, I’ve become hooked on Lavanila. Lavanila’s “Healthy Deodorants” actually do their job, they don’t irritate my skin in any way, and they happen to smell great…
Lavanila Fresh Vanilla Lemon Deodorant ~ scented body product review
I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed a deodorant here before, but there’s a first time for everything. This happens to be a brand of deodorant that I particularly like — and, before I begin, you’ll want to note the basic difference between an anti-perspirant, which prevents perspiration by plugging up the sweat ducts, and deodorant, which allows perspiration but neutralizes it with odor-absorbing ingredients and a (hopefully) pleasant scent.
Of course, everyone’s body chemistry is unique, and what works for one person may not for another, but I’ve been using Lavanila for over a year and it’s my favorite deodorant. It works for me on all but the very hottest days of the year, and it happens to be available in a range of appealing fragrances. The newest fragrance is Fresh Vanilla Lemon, which features notes of “crisp lemon, pure bamboo and powdery vanilla.” Its ingredients do include actual lemon peel oil, as well as a mysterious “botanical fragrance blend.”
Don’t let this product’s namesake vanilla scare you off…
