Cire Trudon's latest candle: the limited edition Mary. "The fantastical world by Mary Shelley's work : a combination of spices as the recipe for a strange potion, tender and exotic wood notes expressing desire for movement, a soft amber and tobacco accord reminiscent of certain scents of her time. The Mary perfume is theatrical, with a luminous depth: floral and spicy notes of immortelle, tuberose, star aniseed and cardamom hint at maverick travels that a heady heart – composed of patchouli, Cedar, Gaiac wood – further transgresses. Mary is a subversive perfume: the testament of a rich interior life, it reveals the life of a cursed heroine." Additional notes include juniper, pepper, papyrus, labdanum and moss. $140 for 270g or $650 for the giant 2.8kg.

I sorta wish Kevin had not told me about Cire Trudon's latest, a collaboration with Balmain, but I suppose I would have found out about it eventually. "Building upon that longstanding relationship, the new Balmain x Trudon candle is the result of a unique partnership between the two Parisian houses. The container and perfume reflect the distinctive savoir-faire and style of both Balmain and Trudon. The striking container, inspired by the pattern of Balmain’s iconic marinière, relies on horizontal stripes and the house’s two signature colors: gold and black. The meticulous creation process relies on an initial hand application of gold leaf upon the clear glass, before it is lacquered in black - resulting in many fine cracks, ensuring that each candle is truly unique. The fragrance features leathery notes, Atlas cedarwood, gunpowder, cigar notes and a mysterious and distinguished black rose." $150 for the 270g, $650 for the massive 2.8 kg.

Will Cire Trudon ever stop trolling me? I’ll take a few of the new L’Œuf diffusers, please (and a few rolls of that wallpaper shown in the background at right, while you’re at it). In biscuit porcelain with a satin-black turned wood base, available in the Ernesto, Abd el Kader and Cyrnos fragrances, and sold with 300 ml of the fragrance, $350. Below the jump, a video showing the production, and then below that, so long as we’re here, a video about Trudon’s partnership with the Orne Dark Bee Conservatory…

Cire Trudon's latest candle: "At the base of the High Atlas Mountains, the Ourika Valley is where it flourishes: iris thrives on sun and an essentially pure rural life. La Belle Matière Ourika marries a floral head note composed of gardenia, rose and magnolia with the spicy notes of benzoin and pink peppercorns to highlight iris’ sensual and powdery nature." $115.
