A quick and easy poll that's both a repeat from 2015 and a good follow-on to yesterday's community project: name a great perfume (or two) for a rainy day.
Or, as always, just talk about something else.

Brand?
What? You don’t know? lol 😂 I count on you to be my perfume resource!!! Profumum. And it’s delicious!!! I’m getting wafts of chocolate. 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
Thanks! To be fair, there are many perfumes with just the single word name …. that said, I may need to try this because chocolate!
I know. It’s confusing. Definitely try it. It’s quite good. I love Confetto too from this brand.
Smelling great, cp8. I love a lot of the Profumum Romas. Maybe 2025 will finally be the year I acquire a bottle.
oops I mean cm8.
It’s a gorgeous spring day and I am in Osmanthe Yunnan, copying SarahN who wore it yesterday.
The first fragrance that comes to my mind for a rainy spring day is En Passant. I usually wear it in that kind of weather but maybe I should give it a go on a sunny day.
Happy weekend, everyone!
Lovely!
I’ll wear it again today with you.
Love to have a twin 🙌
A perfect April showers scent!
Well, the bottle of IA A Little Secret arrived yesterday, and we are pleased! I’ve never tried a fragrance with a tart cherry note before, and the one in this is sweetly tart and very long-lasting. It’s quirky and lovely, but it was actually purchased for Mr. G and joins the collection on HIS shelf rather than mine. (I will be borrowing this one regularly.)
Meanwhile, IA kindly sent two sample sprays along with the bottle, and this morning I’m rounding out last week’s CP in Telegrama, which is like very soft and expensive talcum powder on very soft and expensive linens. Not sure why on earth it’s discontinued when the very nasty Bull’s Blood isn’t, but what do I know. Anyway, Telegrama’s luxurious vibe has inspired me to improve my surroundings today by vacuuming and dusting everywhere.
Oh, that sounds great!
Thanks for the mini review of A Little Secret, it sounds really good. I would have loved to be in on a split of this one but it sold out at lightning speed.
Bull’s Blood is rough. Not as bad for me as Zoologist T Rex but still pretty bad.
It sold out so quickly that I wonder if he’ll bring it back?
Boo! Rainy Saturday here in NYC, but looks like it might be sunny later today. Read more than I comment these days, but still here. : )
Latest fragrance love is Proem by U Beauty. Lichi/rhubarb opening & rose, vetiver notes are so delicious and joyful. Great scent for a rainy day, and spring. Anyone else a fan?
Recently purchased a mix of samples from Lucky Scent. Looking for a new warmer months scent. Also got roped in by their fun new videos.
Starting The Wager today for next month’s book club read. Plus some work, unfortunately.
Happy weekend! 🌷
Great to see you, floragal! Hope you’re doing well!
Thanks! Such enjoyment comes from being around all you smellies. 💕
Nice to see you!
Waving hello! Missing you here
A fragrant Hello, floragal!💐
👋 hi, nice to see you!
Nice to have you here today.
🥰🥰🥰
Hiya floragal!
I’m in Habit Rouge Edt, which has a coziness that feels right on a rainy day. Here, though, we’ve got a glorious sunny day, and HR is perfectly suited to that, as well.
How was your trip to NY? Vassar is such a beautiful campus and not far from me.
The trip was exhausting but great. I was photographing in NYC; I’ll be on the beautiful campus for reunion in early June. I haven’t been back since ’87, and I’m excited to see it. No doubt there have been MANY changes.
My plan today was to wear Twilly. The only perfume I have from Hermes. But I looked and looked and looked, and I think I have given that perfume away. Le sigh. Maybe it will come up in a future swap meet.
I finished Samurai’s Garden last night, it was not as good as some other Japanese translated books I have read. I am starting In Memoriam soon.
Farmers market and some spring cleaning..and a cup of tea with some reading later.
So zero Hermes! The opposite of my collection.
I cannot seem to get into the spirit of spring cleaning this year, I keep hoping the feeling will come…
My only conclusion is that I swapped or gave it away and scratching my head why I did this because I loved it.
If you are not into spring cleaning 🧽 you still have 3 more seasons during the year to find the urge 😆
So true!
I like Guerlain Apres l’Ondee and Zara Livre Blanc for rainy days.
I am wearing Livre Blanc on this gray, rainy day.
Meeting my family later today for my nephew’s birthday. We will have dinner and cake at home. Looking forward to a nice time. Happy weekend!
Enjoy dear
Thank you!
That Guerlain is perfect for a rainy day
It is.
Happy Birthday to your Nephew!
Thank you, Lillyjo!
I wore that yesterday. Enjoy your day and happy birthday to your nephew!
Thank you, Madtowngirl!
Sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday.
We have a very lovely time.
Enjoy the birthday celebration for your nephew! 🌈🎊🎂
Thank you, Jalapeno!
Happy weekend.
Sotd is D&G Velvet Mimosa Bloom. Perfect spring floral.
Rainy day perfumes for me = aquatics. MFK Aqua series, Hermes Epice Marine and the Jardins…
Happy weekend!
I was op-shopping ( charity/ thrift shopping) yesterday and came across a shelf of perfume: YSL Champagne, Tresor, Oscar de La Renta, and L’air des Temps. All full bottles. I bought the Champagne which has a stopper rather than a spray but still smells fine, for $30. It’s parfum rather than EDT so a good buy as I’ve looked up prices on eBay. The bottle is the round shape. So, that’s what I’m wearing and I’m going to do a week of perfumes to honour the 100th year anniversary of the publication of The Great Gatsby all week (10 th April). So Champagne is a good place to start.
I would probably faint if I came across a shelf of full bottles of perfume at a local thrift! It will be fun to see your choices for Great Gatsby week.
Yeah, me too.. lol
I’ve never seen perfume at a thrift store before.
Me three. I had to get the assistant to unlock the cabinet and as I was looking a guy came up and took a good spray of the Oscar de La Renta and the assistant had a spray of the L’air de temps. She was my age and described it as a grandmother scent, and then went on to tell us what a horrible monster her grandmother was. She was still shaking her wrist trying to get rid of it as I left. The man didn’t buy the Oscar de La Renta. There was also a fabulous amber necklace, antique, that I might go back for ( but $200).
I absolutely love thrift shop ‘find’ stories! Congrats on your score, Kanuka.
Wow! What a great find!
How wonderful to come across Champagne parfum at a great price.
What a fun find!
Fabulous find!
Thank you Kanuka for heads up on Centennial publishing of The Great Gatsby. Such a masterpiece! Such tragic lives for the Fitzgeralds!
Incredible thrift store find!
I am wearing Dana Toujours Moi eau de cologne. Notes are: Orange Flower, Honey, Jasmine, Carnation, Spice, Olibanum, Benzoin, Musk, and Patchouli. The musk is dirty but turns powdery quite quickly, and as a cologne it wears quite lightly after the first few minutes. I don’t remember if I got it in a swap here or at Fumerie, but I know I didn’t buy it.
I am starting to think seriously about packing for France. I bought some padded bottle bags (for wine!) and I have been looking up what kind of cheese I’m allowed to bring back. I love going to foreign food shops and seeing what I can discover.
Exciting times ahead.
https://www.edehillerin.fr/en/blog/history/from-the-origins
A really cool place in Paris is Dehillerin, which is a kitchen supply shop. It’s like an Aladdin cave of everything you would ever need in a kitchen ( pots, knives, moulds, whisks). Even if you don’t like baking it’s really worth a visit. Google images has some good photos. You might find some cool corkscrews to go with your wine!
I love baking! I was planning on getting some canele molds if I could find them.
They have them. Aluminium and/or copper.
I bought one of my favorite knives there in 2005 and it’s still going strong! It’s carbon steel with a wooden handle.
Oddly, I like looking at hardware stores. Are you going to check out any perfume shops, or did that go without saying?
I have a 34 page printout of Paris perfume shops…I cannot possibly get to them all but Lutens, Jovoy, Neela Vermeire, and Guerlain for sure.
Guerlain and Astier de Villate for me…
Oh, I would love to go to Paris just to eat cheese! So many good French cheeses that we used to get here but now we just get pale imitations…
Ooh, I want to go on that trip with you Robin! French cheeses in France! Ooo la la!
Vive le fromage!
🧀🇫🇷♥️
Hi everyone 😊
I was out and about all morning in a sweater, jeans and a trench and just about froze. It’s gray, rainy, windy and cold, but no storms, thank goodness. Home now, wrapped up in fleece and a wool afghan, with Larry the cat on my lap. Much warmer!
I’m wearing Amouage Opus VI and smelling like wonderful, expensive incense.
Favorite rainy day perfume is Gris Clair, or a good coffee scent like Montale Intense Cafe. I’ve been casually looking for the right coffee perfume since I ran out of Bond 9 New Haarlem a couple years ago.
I’m really ready for temps in the 60s and 70s but it looks like we’ll have to wait another week. I did decide to wash and pack away my down parka this weekend though now that’s it’s April, lol. C’mon spring!🌸🌺🌼
If it gets cold enough for my down parka again, I’m not leaving the house lol.
Coffee scent on a rainy day is a GREAT idea. Along with a good cup of afternoon coffee and a sweet treat, of course.
Of course! ☕️🧁
I was at Bath and Bodyworks today and tried Midnight Addiction. It’s a dupe of Black Opium which is a sweet syrupy coffee scent.
Ooh thanks for the info!
I’m in Merit Retrospect for a sample thunk. That one lasted quite awhile. Curious if anyone else has tried it?
I stopped into my local Sephora this morning hoping to try the new Glossier, but they didn’t have it.☹️
I took last Monday off work and the rest of the week I felt so behind.😰 I played along with the cp though and wore Pilcro edp, Sonic Flower, Glossier You and Livre Blanc.
Tonight I’m going to make the delicious “marry me chicken.” I saw it online and made it last weekend too. Omg delicious. I texted the recipe to both my cousin and my grad school daughter and they both made it within a day of each other. I’m kinda like an influencer. 😆 You can google and find the recipe. I highly recommend it.
I’ve saved that recipe. Still haven’t made it but want to.
Good to hear more praise for it.
I tried and liked Retrospect.
I’m going to look up the chicken recipe.
I’m wearing Rive Gauche today from my recent estate sale stash. It’s in great shape so the inimitable bottle seems to have protected it. A “reference rose” as Luca Turin likes to call it🌹
You smell beautiful, slightly cold too. Yes, my experience is that RG remains pristine.
I suspect the metal bottle helps.
Absolutely!
Rive Gauche is amazing! I remember my sister having a bottle back in the day; I stole spritzes when she wasn’t home!
It’s definitely a time travel fragrance🌹
Sublime choice!
Eating two coconut macaroons.
I retrieved my Idylle EDP now that days are no longer cold, I’ve always had a fondness for it while I realize it’s hardly a masterpiece, it smells uncomplicated and cheerful but tonight I’m in Gingerbead poppet from one of three little bpal bottles I didn’t have to declare to Donatella because, you know they’re oil, it’s scrumptious.
I finished the perfume balcony review, pulled out several bottles, most to use but some to donate.
I liked Idylle…uncomplicated and cheerful is more than many fragrances manage 🙂
So glad you agree Robin, it was perfect for a lovely spring day.
Aurora, what is a perfume balcony review?
Leslie, sorry for my creating confusion, I keep part of my perfume collection in a chest on the northern part of my very large wrap around balcony and make a yearly review of it, that’s all😀
Your home sounds marvelous! As a newbie, I’m still learning the lingo. No need for any apologies Aurora!
Those coconut macaroons sounded yummy!
Continueing through my Luckyscent samples that arrived early this week. Had a couple days on-and-off thing with Santal Calling by Ex Nihilio. Now trying Parle Moi de Parfum’s Milky Musk, and this is the stuff. It is the sandalwood i like along with a fullness that Santal Calling didn’t have. More of a powdery sandalwood that can’t be mistaken for cedar. (Love cedar, but not when i’m promised sandalwood). I will definitely try again in cooler weather, as things turns cloying very quickly in warm weather to me. We can’t all have iron stomachs and wear whatever whenever. Some of us are delicate flowers lol
Ooh, thanks for the info on those sandalwood scents, I had heard some praise for Santal Calling but now I don’t feel a rush to try it. And Milky Musk shall remain on my list to try!
Thx for this mini review, nebbe, I’ve added it to my test list. I really like the Parle Moi de Parfums that I’ve tried so far.
Good morning from Sydney! Thank you for all the good wishes my my stepson’s wedding, it was a lovely occasion. It was at Cottage Point Inn, a small venue in a national park about an hour north of central Sydney.
I wore Jovoy’s Remember Me, I’d brought just a tiny amount, so that I save maximum space in my luggage for perfume shopping – my sister-in-law and I are leaving for Rome in a few hours.
I’m so glad it was such a lovely occasion. You certainly smelled fabulous! 💐
And Bon Voyage!🥂🛫💃
Have a great trip. Glad it’s off to a good start!
Can’t wait to hear about Roman perfume adventures!
Wore my carrot seed oil and lotion combination today.
One of my rainy day scents is SL Bois de Violette. I’ve found that it ebbs and flows between the Violet and cedar. I haven’t worn it in awhile but there’s more rainy days coming up so it will probably make an appearance soon.
Love that carrot seed oil combo🧡🥕
Glad you still love it too! I just stumbled upon the oil when I was perusing things at the health food store.
Like you once said, it’s a poor man/woman’s Iris Silver Mist!
Bois de Violette is such a beauty and you smell fabulous, Gail.
Sunday morning and it’s sprinkling and chilly here, so I’m in Memoirs of a Trespasser. That’s my vote for perfect rainy day scent — it’s like being curled up on the couch in front of a crackling fire, with a hot cup of tea (or hot toddy, in my case), listening to the rain pattering on the roof.
That’s a good one. On day 2 of rain here so should have worn it!
PSA and question. I see that Jomashop is having a spring sale so there are several scents marked down. As I was perusing the site, I noticed that Hiris was at a good price. I have tried this and liked it, but thought it might be too much like some other scents I already had. Now I am thinking maybe not and might purchase it. What do others think of it and what does it remind you of, if anything? I have seen good and bad reviews. TIA.
SOTD is BBW Rose shower gel and lotion topped with Guerlain AA Rosa Rossa.
I can’t answer your question but we are house twins! I am in Shalimar edc layered with BBW iced lemon pound cake.
Yay! Hi twin.
For me, one can never have too many iris scents. I love Hiris; my bottle is the blue matte version so I don’t know how the scents compare. YMMV!
I have a lot of iris scents, but I agree you can’t have too many 😂
Kris, people say that the formula of Hiris changed when it went from the gorgeous cobalt blue bottle to clear, but I have not compared them.
I have the blue version. I am not an iris expert by any means, but to my nose, Hiris skews to the green gleaming less sweet side of iris, not the rooty earthy sweeter woods side that can be found in VC&A Bois d’Iris, Prada Iris Absolue, Harmonist Royal Earth, etc. It is cool and steely, perfect for a hot summer day IMHO, and might have a carrot seed note, and perhaps a few aldehydes (?) whereas the woods-centric irises are more sweet and thick and rooty and warming. At least to my nose, sweeter = warming. I do think it’s an excellent composition and if you’re into irises, this is not one to miss. The gleaming cobalt bottle exemplified the scent perfectly!
Thanks so much for the information!
As always, 🏅for layering! I think I saw your traveling this week to see your grandkids? Bon voyage and safe travels Kris!
Thanks💕
Hiris is one of the Hermes scents that I haven’t tried, so no advice here. Sorry.
It is sunny and dry and unseasonably cool (60’s) after being in the 90’s last week. Not much in the mindset for rainy day fragrances but we did get some wonderful rain last week and the whole dry, dusty landscape is now verdant. I was really unhappy to have 90-degree temperatures in early April.
Today, I am trying out sample of Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velours and my first impression was just some camphor note but it is has settled down nicely. I also tested out Clean Suede by ELDO and I think I liked that one a little more. I am exploring leather/suede notes, not something I have in my collection.
Bracing myself for another 2-3 busy weeks of work and then start some vacation. We are going to visit our son in NC. Any good scent shops in Raleigh? I have the standard high end department stores in my own city but no independent/niche type vendors.
I am leaving for NC on Wednesday to see our grandkids. I don’t know about any stores in Raleigh as we will be about an hour and a half south of there.
Bright 🌞 and blue skies welcomed us for our weekly Sunday soak in our outdoor hot tub. I ❤️ starting the week this way, releasing all of the week’s worries and starting afresh! With a good view of our bird-feeding stations, we were hoping to see some early migrators, but not yet, 🤞soon. We were graced though with the delightful presence of a downy woodpecker who enjoyed our suet feeder. The combination of ☀️, cardinal song, the soothing sounds of our little nearby waterfall, and the beautiful bells of a nearby church fills our hearts with gratitude.🙏
It’s too nice a day to think of a rainy-day fragrance. Instead, I’m celebrating Spring and the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. – and fond memories of the one time we were fortunate to experience it there – with L’Occitane Fleurs de Cerisier. Jumping ahead to the 4/18 cp, it also fits that theme of places visited with ‘intangible cultural heritage,’ in that 3,000 cherry trees were gifted to our country by Japan in 1912 and what started as a gift still continues and is one of the world’s greatest celebrations of Spring!
Happy Sunday to all! 🍒
What an idyllic way to start a week 😊
What idyllic visuals! I’ve never seen the Cherry blossoms in bloom, but it’s on my bucket list!
Today I ran my second half-marathon, the first in the city I’ve been living for the past 17 years. For the occasion I wore Guerlain AA Ginger Piccante, my favorite happy fragrance. It was a success!
And now I’m in Eau Parfumée au thé vert for some well-deserved rest 😌
That’s awesome! Congratulations!
Thank you 🤗
Very nicely done!! I hope you are enjoying the much deserved recovery.
Yay – congratulations!
Good for you!
Wonderful!💐
Wow, congrats! What a nice achievement! 👏
Congratulations!
Thank you, all! You are very kind ☺️
Sounds like the perfect scent to give you that extra oomph to cross the finish line. Congrats, as a fellow runner myself, I know that’s a lot of miles.
Congratulations NinaV! That’s a great achievement! Two half-marathons- wow!
Well done! I can’t even imagine what that feels like to train and run in one of those-good for you 🙂
Belated congratulations to you on your half-marathon!
It’s so nice to read everyone’s rainy day scents. On this rainy day I am in Papillion Salome before warmth.
It’s been very sunny where I am, but I’ll pretend it’s rainy and would pick a gently spiced scent like Safran Troublant or something powdery like Bois Farine. Both so good!
I tried the new Glossier Fleur today when I went to Sephora to return something. I did not care for it, on me it’s a slightly creamy, tropical/salty white floral. It’s just not my thing at all, but it’s well done and I think it will do well. It’s stronger than the original, which remains my favorite.
Thanks for a quick review on the new Glossier perfume!
Hi all! I thunked my sample of Smell Bent Sunshine today (well, yesterday, since it’s after midnight). I bought a bunch of Smell Bent samples when I heard they were going out of business, and they’ve since evaporated quite a bit and are pretty syrupy now. This one still smelled okay. I guess you could wear Sunshine on a rainy day to combat the grayness! But I’d rather go with the flow and wear something cool when it rains. Atelier Cologne Mistral Patchouli maybe.
We are sorta kinda scent twins today. I’m wearing Smell Bent too!
My sense of smell has finally recovered after 8 days of Covid. Sotd Guerlain Encens Mythique. I was worried it wouldn’t return for weeks, so EM smelled divine.
Unfortunately I managed to give Covid both to Mom for her birthday (sorry Mom, worst gift ever) and my poor suffering Auntie is back at Cedars hospital with Covid from me plus 2 other new infections. Because she’s in quarantine no one can visit her which compounds how back she feels.
I tried to read back as my brain fog made it all but impossible to concentrate even on something inspiring and uplifting like the posts here. Ironically I recall fog was the CP!
Thanks to all for the get well wishes and supportive thoughts for my family !
Pauvre Leslie, what bad luck, glad that your nose is working.
I was looking to draw sustenance from my fragrances – nada, for days. Not only did I miss it, but my lack of sleep exacerbated my fear it wouldn’t return.
Congrats on the return of your sense of smell! What a relief. We’re officially done with the fog theme now, so hopefully your brain fog clears up soon too.
And speedy recovery to your family.
Thank you Glannys, the utter irony of a fog CP, which was an awesome idea, while I’m lost both mentally and olfactory in my own fog wasn’t lost on me.
Glad to hear your sense of smell is back. I hope your mom and aunt recover very soon.
Thank you pf67! I’m so relieved, I used 2x the amount of Lush Sleepy shower gel last night because I could finally sense the lavender!
Joining the others in wishing speedy recovery to your mom and aunt! I hope perfume can bring some comfort to you in these difficult days.
NinaV, you raise an intriguing point that I never considered – comfort. My growing fragrance collection has provided me so much in these few months, but I never considered it comfort. It absolutely does! Thank you for the insight!
Oh LesLiesse, you and your family are getting hit hard and I send strong wishes for your mom’s and especially your auntie’s recovery, what an avalanche of health challenges for an elder to overcome. I’m glad you have recovered your sense of smell. I have a perfumista friend who lost hers last year with Covid and still has a very hard time discerning scents and has crossed wires where lemon blossoms smell like manure to her. She is starting to be able to vaguely smell things again after months but has no idea how fully her olfactory powers will return. This is every perfumista’s nightmare.
Thank you De use! Yes we’ve had a run of bad luck recently. I confess late at night I was worrying about this when I cycled through everything going on. Grateful for each thing going right and every kind word!
I’m glad to see you back LesLiesse. Better health wishes to your family.
Thank you lillyjo! I’m in our YSL Libre L’Absolu Platine for its lavender calming and its citrus optimism!
Oh, my gosh! You have been through so much. Take care of yourself dear friend.
I ain’t lyin- it’s been an ordeal! Love makes it all bearable for me. Apparently I spoke too soon about my nose – I’m not picking up any citrus scents yet. I even went to a fresh tangerine – nothing. So I have a way to go.
I’m glad your sense of smell has returned -that reminds me of everything I take for granted! – but so sorry to hear about your Mom and Auntie. Sending healing vibes thru the universe for both of them. And better – and healthier days – ahead for all. 🤗
Thank you Laila! It’s true that we can take the simple pleasures like our sense of smell for granted. I keep opening up my bottle of grapefruit juice trying to smell it accurately ever time I open the frig.
Glad to hear that your sense of smell is returning after your bout with COVID. Hopefully the brain fog will dissipate too. Fingers crossed that your Mom and Aunt recover quickly.
Jalapeño I need a lot of finger-crossing! Every 18 hrs, it seems the outlook changes for better than worse. It’s emotional whiplash a bit for me. Had 3 cups of lavender tea w honey, everytime the hospital has called.
Been there. It’s rough.
♥️
Oh goodness. Do keep us updated on your mom and your aunt!
Thank you Robin! And thank you for drawing such a lovely lovely group of fragrance aficionado together from across the world these 20 yrs!
Glad your sense of smell is back and wishing both your mom and aunt speedy recoveries! Sending hugs…you’ve had so much to contend with the past few weeks. ♥️
She-Ra! ♥️🤗
It looks like it’s going to be a cold week, so I’m switching from perfumes about mist and rain to perfumes that will keep me warm. On the other hand, I still want to follow this week’s theme.
So, for Monday, I chose Miel de Bois — warm, sweet, and perfect for Winnie-the-Pooh. Apparently, I’m one of the select few to whom Miel de Bois smells good.
Glannys I only had a sample but I loved it, too! Wearing something in a similar vein today-the Dries van Noten scent, from FM. Only similar to the honey note which is great on my skin. this stuff is super potent, too-one spray this morning and I’m good smellin all day:)
Carole, I have never tried your SOTD, but it sounds like another great scent for a cold weather.
It’s a great scent for cold weather, Glannys:)
There used to be great soft honey scents in the 80s/90s from L”Occitane. Miel et Citron was one. Body Shop had a Honey one too. I think they are mostly d/c now. I believe Kim Kardashian also had a honey scent more recently but I haven’t tried it. There are ways to tone down the phenylacetic acid note, but I think that Lutens just wanted to embrace it and chapeau to him for his fearlessness. He does the same with cumin notes.
For me there are two kinds of rainy/foggy/misty day perfumes. For cold rains, I want something spicy and ambery that warms me up so Ambre Narguile did the trick this weekend, which is a fragrance I like to wear to bed anyway. Frapin 1270 is another. For a warm tropical rain, I want something cooling, so the above-mentioned Hermes Hiris or Dzongkha would fit the bill but I haven’t felt the need to reach for summer-friendly frags yet. Another one that I used to love was Gilly Hicks Spider Lily, (does anyone remember that one?) which I recall taking with me on a trip to Hawaii years ago. It’s long gone and I wonder if I would still like it. I remember it being a lightly sweet floral and also aqueous (calone?) and perfect for the humidity of the Islands.
You’re right. Cold rain definitely calls for a different kind of fragrance than warm rain.
Off to an appointment with financial advisor. Wearing No.19, which I am sure will waft fiscal aptitude.
😀
Perfect choice.
👏🏻
On point
SOTD = Le Labo Vanille 44
So wonderful and perfect for the crappy rainy day … 4 days in a row. I need dry weather because the wet is just too much!
I finished my taxes yesterday and filed electronically for Fed, NJ State and NYState. I was surprised to NOT see any notes about paying anything until the very end when I saw a screen for payment. I scratched my head because it asked to either charge my credit card or apply the fee to my refund. Since I had zero refund (note to self: figure out how not to owe for this year’s taxes, but I digress), I chose that option. Lo and behold IT.DID.NOT.ALLOW.ME.
TO. PROCEED 🤬. I did the next best thing which was to abandon the process and restart, this time with Fed and NYState only. What a pain in the tuckus!
Back to regular programming tomorrow.
… and I posted … (calm down, it’s just “food”)

Tax season. Bleah!!
Yep! So glad to be done.
I try always to enjoy any and every weather, but this weekend I heard a sadly familiar dripping sound near the fireplace. Seven years ago we had this problem addressed, but now it’s back. At 11:30pm, we grabbed towels and went up in the attic to tuck them in around the base of the chimney. The water seeps slowly down the exposed sides of the blocks so happily towels do the trick. This is not a roof problem; it’s a problem with the outer brick work of chimney itself. DEEP BREATH. I’ve reached out to three masons. The one from before is retired, and the other two have not yet called back. What with 6″ of rain in our town over the last 4 days, I am sure they are all busy. Very glad to see sun today. SotD for vintage comfort Bottega Veneta eau de Velours. Friday and Saturday, Mugler Aura brightened the rainy and stormy time, even during the pushing aside of dusty piles of blown-in fiberglass insulation to place rag towels around cement chimney blocks. 😐
Oh no! Dealing with masonry issues and water damage sucks. 😓😭
Ugh. I have been trying to get a mason to come repair stone at my house since last fall. Fingers crossed for both of us, but first for you since a leak is the worst…
Perfect weather here today: sunny and 70 degrees.
Fragrance for rainy weather? Hmmmmmmmmmmm. The rain here is always cold, even at the height of summer. I would probably reach for an incense scent.
SOTD = Smell Bent’s Florist’s Fridge, from the Sample Stash and Vee. Thunk!
Jealous! Looks like we might have good weather next week.
