It's Hump Day plus National Girl Scout Day. Birthdays: Elaine de Kooning, Jack Kerouac, Edward Albee. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm all in, wearing L’Artisan Parfumeur Jacinthe des Bois. I might just wear it for the rest of the week.
Reminder: on 3/14, wear a fragrance with a hyacinth note, if you have one. If you don't, pick another spring flowering bulb?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello.
Sotd is LVEB L’Extrait. I haven’t tried it but since it’s got oud (though pretty undetectable), maybe it will layer nicely with other real ouds and become the true beast (monster?) that it’s meant to be. Hmmm.
Worth a shot!
I’m wearing Springtime in a Park by Maison Martin Margiela. No hyacinth here, but its pretty enough.
Good enough!
Miss Balmain
I don’t think I ever tried that one!
Lise Watier Neiges, enjoying this a lot and apparently it has hyacinth.
Going to a beauty event this evening and I will check the new Hermes lipsticks.
oh Hera-please repost back once you’ve seen them! The LE fuchsia one is calling my name (maybe).
Yes, sure I will report back, the colours look beautiful. I am interested in one of the dark berry colours.
I love Neiges and wore it in the 90s, and just yesterday I went looking online for some. The hyacinth note in Neiges is so good.
Sotd Hermes Agar Ebene.
Next week I will start working again, only two days a week and remotely. I am not expecting to be back at the office until mid-September. It is going to be a slow transition since my job is physically demanding, and I need to be fully recovered to be back full time. But I am very glad I am officially “back to work.” I will celebrate with some chocolate cake pops that my nieces brought me last night.
Happy Wednesday! 🌻
Huzzah!
😊
Congratulations pl67!
And yay for cake pops!
Thank you, Lillyjo!
You smell great and how fantastic that you’re healing:)
Thank you, Carole!
Enjoy the cake pops! So glad to hear you’re feeling better.
Thank you, Gail! They are very tasty!
Good news!
They are!
Great news!
Indeed!
That’s a milestone in your recovery, best wishes for next week.
Thank you, Aurora! 🌷
What lovely news, I hope the transition back to work goes smoothly!
Thank you, Tulipani! I hope so too.
Glad to hear you’re well along the road to recovery!
Thank you, Ockeghem!
Glad you are well enough to go back to work remotely even at shorter hours!
Thank you, Hajusuuri!
So glad that you are making steady progress, and those cake pops sound like a treat.
Thank you, Ringthing! The cake pops are delish! 😋
Good luck! I hope you can ease yourself back.
Thank you, Kanuka!
Yay!!!💃💐🎂
😊
Wonderful news! Good luck for next week!
So nice of your nieces to bring you a little something sweet.
Thank you, Jalapeno!
They know that sometimes I have a sweet tooth! 😀
That’s a big milestone, congratulations! I’m glad to hear you’re improving. And you smelled really nice today. 💐
Thank you! 🌻
Yay for 2 days back…wonderful news! Sending strength and hugs to you, PL67!
It’s pretty gloomy out there today, so I am wearing Bas de Soie, my one known hyacinth.
Twins! Haven’t worn this one in ages.
I’m joining you both in this beauty today!
I’ll be joining you tomorrow, you smell great!
SOTD my vintage Dune – so good! I found a forgotten sample of Brioche by Anatole Lebreton hiding under my computer keyboard, so I put a spritz of that on top of the Dune after a few hours – but it is not blending nicely, so I will wash my hands and probably reapply some Dune before heading out to the grocery store. Making a concerted effort to prioritize, do the most important thing first, and finish what I start before moving on. Today is a catch up day, trying to finish up a lot of hanging tasks that are obstacles to doing what I really want/must do ( staring down the barrel of taxes…. )
Adorable hubby is a task butterfly, flit, flit flit, but I can’t do that, I need to be more a good plow horse, stay in the row, don’t stop until I get to the end! Then take a little break, turn around, and start the next row….right now I have about 18 rows in various states of disarray! And it is so nice out! Which is why I have moved grocery shopping to the top of the list – at least it will get me out of the house. LOL! We have the pre-spring season of mud here – parts of our driveway turn into bottomless sink holes as the frost comes out of the ground. But at least it isn’t raining! Happy Hump Day, everyone! Keep doing the most important thing, you never know when things might shift on a dime.
Nothing to hide under MY keyboard for the simple reason that I had moved on to laptops a while back. That said, I 100% agree with you on prioritizing the list of to dos although I will be the first to admit at not following it. Taxes …
Enjoy the sunshine meredifay 🪻
Will be spending the day in either Jicky or Flos Mortis. Had a rough morning and need to collect my thoughts.
I hope the rest of your day gets better.
Sorry about your rough morning, Dawn, hope things get better.
Hoping that your day gets better by the minute. Either of those lovely fragrances is sure to help🌸
Hopefully the rest of your day is/was an improvement over the a.m.
I’m in Daim Blond. I love its softness. Love the older style 50 ml bottle. Time change wreaking havoc with sleep. But the shop dog (french bulldog named Alfie ) is snoring up a storm in his little bed! He stands at the door at 10 and 2, demanding to visit the shop dog next door (Dachshund named Moose). If there is reincarnation I would like to be either one of these dogs.
Love those dogs, so funny. Love Daim Blond too and also prefer the old bottles ( less aggressive-looking than the new versions and nicer for being able to see the cool colours of the perfumes) . There’s a movie called Dean Spanley ( Sam Neill, Jeremy Northam ) which has a great dog reincarnation theme. Worth watching.
Thanks, Kanuka-I love Sam Neill, so I’ll check it out 🙂 I also want to see the movie Rams, which he is also in.
Rams is a good Saturday night movie. Good story and acting, and nice vibe.
Twins a day apart, I wore Daim Blond yesterday! It’s been a few years since I reached for it, such a great fragrance.
I really love this one, tulipani-even bought a backup bottle. I’ve never done that before.
My friend messaged me yesterday afternoon from Dallas airport saying she was about to get on her plane to Sydney and I’ve been idly tracking the flight, and it’s still going….it’s 17 hours long and I think I would start to feel a bit trapped and desperate to get off and breathe real air, especially in economy. So much would also depend on the behaviour of your neighbours. I bet it feels very slow, with four hours still remaining ( and then another flight to NZ). I can’t decide if I’d choose a window seat ( mostly flying over water) or an aisle for ease of bathroom visits. Wearing SB Florists Fridge ( CP compliant) which is what it says, a great perfume ( sadly no longer exists).

Dean Spanley review, meant for Carole.
Kanuka, that review is great-I’m def looking for this now:) Thank you.
I can’t imagine flying that long. I am not a plane person, even when I travel to Armenia which is Montreal to Paris, Paris to Yerevan, i find it sooo long.
I was looking at flights to Dublin the other day and the quickest one way journey from my closest airport is 32 hours. Seems like hell to me.
I always prefer the window seat regardless of mode of transportation. I can’t stand people thinking I am a tiny / skinny person when I am so far from it.
I vote for the isle seat with quick access to the bathroom and ease of standing/stretching if need be.
Anything but the middle seat!!
Big rain here today. Hard for the burn zones.
Anyone watch Dark Winds? I started watching it about two weeks ago and tore through that. Good thing there is a season three. I love all the 70s references and the music.
SOTD will be Benjoin Boheme from the beautiful round bottle. Not feeling the spring today.
My vacuum cleaner died after a good 12 years. DAMN. New one purchased and I got it in purple.
Yup, a cold rain hammering down across L.A. and my Fidji (CP compliant) is not giving off the tropical island vibes I’d like today.
Non-compliant in Shalimar MI today.
Did a little retail therapy today. Not that I was depressed or stressed, but thought I should purchase a few spring tops. Ended up with four so did pretty good.
House twins!
Popping by to say that I’m wearing Neela Vermeire’s Ashoka.
Hope it was a good day Gaynor!
Fidji from Guy Laroche contains hyacinth so that’s my choice today. When I looked it up I was surprised to see it dates to 1966, I would have guessed 1970s, but it is definitely one of those pretty aldehydic green florals along the lines of Ma Griffe, Ivoire, vintage No. 19, etc. I haven’t worn it in forever and these days I’m into other things so might have to vote it off the island, to belatedly answer a poll from awhile back.
My wedding fragrance in 1974.

Your post yesterday reminded me of this great documentary I saw in the film festival about ten years ago, about a pair of shepherds from Switzerland who herd their sheep for about 500km every year , across the country and into France. It’s worth watching. Really good. Winter Nomads in English.
Thank you Kanuka, I will check it out! btw, you and Kapka Kassabova are no slouches in the literary department! You have done quite well yourself.
My hyacinth of the day is VC&A First.
The irony: while a ceasefire is being discussed, a furniture shop in my town burns down, presumably due to falling drone debris. No one was hurt, but it’s a real loss for the owner.
Oh Glannys, I am so sorry for so many things.
So sorry Glannys. Do keep safe!
I can’t say it better than apsara, so sorry for so many things.
My first thought was something angry which would violate NST guidelines. I wish you all in Ukraine didn’t have to deal with that.
I echo others in being so sorry for all of the senseless loss. And I join with fellow NSTers in hopes for your safety and peace.
Horrible horrible, my heart goes out to you Glannys.
SOTD = Penhaligon’s Ostara
Oh my! I haven’t worn this in quite a long time and I need to remedy that! It’s a green floral 💚💛 with hyacinths although my broken nose doesn’t detect it.

So today’s NYTimes gift article is not dire like yesterday’s. This one is about pets enjoying shows! I don’t have a subscription to the show mentioned but it sure sounded good!
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/09/movies/flow-movie-pets-oscars.html?unlocked_article_code=1.204.HJib.pVivHXQpyK1l&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
I bought Ostara years ago and it didn’t work for me. I wish I would have kept it because I think I would like it now.
Same thing happened to me. I wore it some, but there was something in it that didn’t quite work for me. I have thought that I might like it now, but I have my reservations.
Cute article today!
Un Jardin sur le Nil today, since someone mentioned it the other day. I also needed something simple that makes me happy after enduring yesterday in a sample I didn’t like that much and that did. not. go. away.
Stuff you hate lasts forever. I recently bought the body oil for Sur Le Nil, and it’s a great oil, in case you’re interested. It seems to be disappearing from the sites I used to see it on, so I don’t know if it’s limited edition or what.
Glad Sur le Nil is a happy scent for you after your long hard slog yesterday.
I’m wearing Shalimar EDC today.
It’s another gorgeous day here.
My favorite version of Shalimar. The weather is gorgeous!
I was in a hurry this morning and grabbed No 19, which I was saving for Friday, but I have lots of hyacinth picks in my collection.
In other news, I finally hit my 100lb weight loss goal. You guys don’t have to be too congratulatory because I have just whined about my weight recently and it’s boring but it feels great to meet that goal. Now I can officially be in maintenance mode.
Thanks for letting me ramble, you guys have been really supportive and I appreciate it.
Congrats to you! A fabulous accomplishment. 💪
Not boring at all! Congratulations ringthing!
Smelling great in No. 19. Congratulations on the weight loss; that’s such an accomplishment.
Congrats on making your final goal! It’s still a noteworthy accomplishment.
Hey, we are scent siblings today.
Wonderful!
What wonderful news! Congratulations!💐⭐️
This is indeed a wonderful accomplishment to be proud of, ringthing. And I am proud for you!
Congratulations, ringthing! It is wonderful and you should be most proud. I truly enjoy and admire everyone who share their journey…so THANK you! 🥰
A pear as a smoothie
Fresh miso soup with yam noodles is on the stove, I get the paste and noodles from a Japanese online store.
L’Eau Ambrée today with its beautiful citrus, cédrat and mandarine with a lovely drydown of opoponax and patchouli and tonight for the CP Love, Chloe which I purchased the year it was released, 2010. I have three Chloe perfumes and they are special, the house is underrated.
Lucky you to have Love Chloe!
I sat on the fence with that one and missed out.
It was a case of instant love, I wish we lived on the same side of the pond, I would send you some.
Oh, I wish I still had that fragrance. I loved it!
Oh, you too, hope you will find it again, if I lived closer I would send you some.
I’ve been avoiding perfume for the past couple of days due to sinus issues and migraines, but feel a bit of relief today. Spring florals are not my bag in general, other than Au Dela, but I feel even that would be a bit too piercing today. Instead, I went with a warm, gentle vetiver a la Nicolai Vetyver.
Happy Hump Day to all and Happy Friday to me! I’m approaching the finish line and couldn’t be happier! 😄
I hope you keep feeling better and happy Friday to you!
I’m glad to hear you are feeling better. I hope you recover completely soon.
Marions Nous to be project compliant although hyacinth isn’t a dominant note. Was driving yesterday and I saw crocuses! I always look for them as a sign of spring. Color is returning to the world! Hallelujah!
I have only seen the very little crocuses, the kind you scatter in your lawn. Still waiting for the bigger ones. I suspect squirrels have eaten most of mine though.
Posting a little late today. No particular reason why; just how the day developed.
Hoping for some rain on Friday. It would wash some of the pollen out of the air. Plus, every drop of moisture is needed this time of year.
SOTD = back in No. 19 Poudre.
Hope you get the rain jalapeno.
I’ve been branching out in my weather watching and was surprised how little precipitation some state’s get.
IIRC the average precipitation here is around 15 inches. That includes snow and rain. Most of the snow is dry, so it takes a lot of it to equal 1 inch of water.
I’m in Anais Anais. I remember having a bottle years ago and would have finished it back in the day. I can’t recall the last full bottle I drained in the past few years. I’m currently close on two!
I had a bottle year’s ago too. I sometimes add a new one to my ever changing cart.
Or to get free shipping!
Love this one. It was my sig scent for years. You smell fabulous.
Thank you, Denise! It’s fun to wear the old-school ones.
I loved sniffing bottles of Anais Anais at department stores in junior high.
Me too! All the bottles to try out! And you’d get samples of all kinds.
I started the morning in vintage Private Collection (thank you DeniseH!) for its spring beauty and the lovely hyacinth note.
Those vintage Estee Lauder scents are so good!
They sure are!!!
You are so very welcome, allo! And I have so many beautiful bottles to thank you for as well! Merci!
