Update: the description at Maison Francis Kurkdjian...
In a creamy and mouthwatering cloud of white musks, Kurky distils fruity notes, reminiscent of tutti frutti candies. A composition thought of as a great burst of laughter, a smile, and a ray of sunshine: an invitation to awaken the child within us.
[...] An accord mainly composed of white musks (synthetic molecules that recall certain facets of animal musk, banned in perfumery since 1973), evoking the smell of clean and cotton, sometimes with fruity accents, for a sensation of softness and comfort. This musky accord, here slightly tinged with vanilla and sandalwood notes, becomes creamy and smooth, with a comforting, reassuring smell of clean skin.
Oh, that is such a terrible name for a scent. (Among other things, it rhymes with “murky”, “turkey”, and “jerky”.) I can’t believe there was nobody to talk him out of it.
My first thought as well.
I live in New Mexico and a lot of people jokingly refer to Albuquerque as “the ‘querque” (pronounced like Kurky) so that’s all I can think of.
Interesting, it does not bother me at all.
I just think everything has to work or nothing does: I’ve decided not to buy scents because I hated the name or the bottle, even if I liked the contents. (And conversely I’ve bought scents because the bottle seduced me.)
Hey, any rule that cuts down on the number of perfumes you have to buy is a good rule 🙂
I do that to my own regret sometimes. I didn’t even sniff Malmaison because I didn’t like the name, (Bad House) until someone raved about it because it was being discontinued. But I had the same negative reaction to the name Kurkey-it is just not a pretty word to read or to say, it’s like clearing your throat or something. Odd what associations we will firm, isn’t it?
Maybe it’s cuter in French? Or some other language? Where is Cousin Francis from, anyway?
Born in Paris 🙂
And I would hate the name Bad House but Malmaison sounds romantic to me, so that’s the power of French to an American English speaker…
Sometimes works with Spanish too, although Casa Mala also sounds bad.
Fruity gourmand musk gives me a headache … and I am not prone to headaches …
$ saved!
Same!
Most of the comments about this new Kurky perfume are negative trivial gripes about the name. Get a grip, people!!!
People are allowed to chatter about perfumes howsoever they like, but nobody is allowed to be rude to other readers. That’s basically our comment policy in a nutshell.

Robin, you are a gem!
I love the name and the origin story behind it. I hope I love this. I’ll probably get this and APOM on the same day if I love it.
The juice is tutti-fruity candy and white musk. The name is the most interesting part of the whole thing, you know?
