French niche line Memo has introduced Leather, the first in the new Extraits Cardinaux series. Extraits Cardinaux will highlight base notes and accords characteristic of the brand, and can be used for layering with other Memo fragrances.
Leather features notes of vetiver, patchouli, leather, cistus labdanum, iris and musk.
Memo Leather is available now at Selfridges in the UK, £235 for 30 ml.

Notes look good but why so expensive? Normally, I wouldn’t complain but it’s one of those things where if it is for layering, it should be less expensive!
Well, even crazier is an ad I saw recently for “fragrance primer.” Spray first, then follow-up with perfume on the same area and Presto! Change-o! You have a fragrance that lasts much longer…😂 What a crock…
Many of the brands that have launched these layering agents have done relatively expensive small bottles (Bvlgari comes to mind, and I know there is another recent example but can’t think of it right now).
But also, they sell more by pricing into the luxury market.
Don’t they already have several fragrances with leather in the name? This sounds like a step backwards.
The number of familiar unisex notes is not infinite, and inspiration flags, apparently…none of their other leathers have really done anything for me, I doubt I will seek this one out, although I like the bottle …
