Being a celebrity with a perfume sounds like easy money, I suppose like passive income. But, does anybody else avoid celebrity perfumes and makeup brands like me, because of not wanting to contribute my own hard earned money to the wealth of the already rich?
Being a fashion brand with a perfume amounts to about the same thing, ditto with many cosmetic brands and even many niche brands…I suppose you could just buy small indie brands?
Well, my blood sugar went up just reading the notes. I have read somewhere or other that her perfumes are at the better end of celebrity offerings, but I am afraid I am not the target demographic for this sort of thing, although I do admire her vocal range, if not exactly how she chooses to use it. Linda Ronstadt and k.d. lang come to mind when I think of powerhouse female vocalists. As far as I know, neither of them released any vanity perfumes….LOL. I feel like such an old fuddy-fuddy!
I don’t really know her at all, but agree about the blood sugar!
She is the skinny little blondie with the four octave vocal range who is Galinda/Glinda in Wicked. She was in a Nickelodeon tv show as 15 year old, and moved on to became a world-wide wide sensation as a singer since then. She has sold 83 million records, won a slew of Grammys and other awards. Her perfumes have made her a billionaire. If you don’t know who this woman is, expand your range of media outlets. She is skinny, blonde and soprano, so a lot of main stream media want to lump her with Brittany Spears, but she is more reasonably compared to Rihanna and Taylor Swift.
Oh, on the contrary I do not mind not knowing anything more than her name. I wouldn’t recognize a Britney Spears, Rihanna or Taylor Swift song if I heard one, for that matter…just fine with me. I appreciate the rise of specialty radio that allows me to live in peace, unlike when I was younger and if you wanted radio you were going to hear everything 🙂

Robin, I’m with you. I knew her name before, I saw her in Wicked (though I’d have much preferred to see Kristen Chenoweth when she was in the role, and I saw someone also very good sing it in London), and that’s all I need to know. It has nothing to do with me not keeping up on pop culture; I’m up on the latest alternative artists but pure pop has never been my thing, even in the ’80s when I had to listen to it. For an older reference, I believe Mariah Carey has a similar vocal range to Ariana Grande, and I’ve also never been interested in Mariah Carey, no matter how much money she has, and it has nothing to do with my range of media outlets, it has to do with me not liking pop music, which is just how my tastes developed. I realize many others do like it, and all the power to them, but I shouldn’t have to listen to it.
My kid also knows Ariana Grande’s name and none of her music (outside Wicked) and is fine with that as her things are Asian pop and musical theatre. She is also not at all interested in Taylor Swift, which saved me a whole lot of money and headaches.
Anyway, I think the lesson of the 2000s is that we’re all able to like what we like and things are so splintered that there is no overarching pop culture that everyone has to listen to. At any rate, that’s how my kid approaches it.
I’ll buy celeb stuff — Fenty makes good makeup, at least from my perspective — but this one is clearly not meant for me (I gagged at marshmallow, and cherry is so…done…lately). She’s clearly targeting kids with this one.
And in my day it was AM radio! Back when WLS Chicago played all the latest music.
Nope.
I might have to see my dentist and ask them to check for cavities after reading that description. So. Much. Sugar.
This franchise is still going? Wow.
Boredom boredom and boredom
I’m surprised she haven’t released a Wicked themed perfume.
Maybe this is the perfume her Galinda/Glinda wear.
Maybe because of the Wicked partnership with Lush?
Oh I didn’t know that. Thank you for letting me know x
