Saturday is Chaos Never Dies Day, and we're celebrating all the long weekend with our usual open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the fragrance that best helps you accept the chaos, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

And ps meant to say, the splitmeet is open til Sunday night, or more probably Monday morning!

Happy weekend.
Not much chaos but a frustration today. When I reached for my glasses after shower, I dropped it and the right arm, or temple, broke off. The screw on the hinge is nowhere to be found so I can’t fix it. All I have at home is another pair of ugly back-up from a while back and the prescription is now off. My contacts have also expired and I tossed them.
I am wearing Tam Dao to bring me zen. Ugh.
Oh no, I hate that! There’s always the tried-and-true method of using tape to hold the arm on. So stylish!
If it’s good enough for Harry Potter, it’s good enough for me! 🤣
oh, and new glasses and frames are so expensive, mine are over 1000€, if i need new ones. hope they csn be repaired
Omg that is SO expensive! My palms are sweating just looking at that number.
Yeah, Mr. Ockeghem’s glasses broke recently (hinge broke off one of the temples). I told him to take his prescription to an optometrist in our German city, and they told him it was going to be over €1000, all in.
He ended up ordering online from Warby Parker in Canada and having a friend express them over — MUCH cheaper than buying them here, even with the shipping. 🙂 I’m feeling better about what I spend on glasses in Canada — at least for CA$1k I get cool frames (the €1k frames were kinda boring). That said, we pay more for just about everything else at home. 🙂
The glasses shop at the mall had the right screws and fixed it for me! Paid $12. SO happy I didn’t have to pay 100x for a new frame!
Yay! Glad there was an easy fix!
wonderful news, Happy888cat. Now all the $$$ you saved can go to perfume, lol
Whoo hoo for a cheap and easy fix!
Do you have thin wire…a paper clip is perfect…thread it through the screw holes and twist tight to hold it together. Cut off any long ends.
That is genius!!! I am going to try that right now!
It worked!
The optometrist was laughing when he saw the wire and said how clever! I told him a very clever friend of mine suggested it!
I think you can buy replacement screws if you google around. Husband has some kind of kit that comes with different screws. I can ask him if you’d like.
Thank you but it’s okay, I am going to wear my old back up and run to the glasses place tomorrow.
Maybe you could take a screw out of the old glasses? Good luck; I feel your frustration. I’m extremely myopic and loss or damage to my glasses makes me almost panicky because the fast-glasses places actually can’t make mine that fast.
That was what I was thinking! If in the unlikely scenario that the glasses shop tells me they have no screws I plan on telling them to use the ones from my back up. One way or another I am gonna get it fixed. 🤓
I’ve lost so many pairs that way. I drop things all the time. Tam Dao is an excellent antidote for broken glasses. 🤓
I am such a klutz also. “Not again!” has become a frequently uttered phrase in my house.
hopefully you don’t drop perfume bottles, Tiffanie. I did that once with an original Fendi Fendi. Bathroom smelled marvelous for weeks.
Sorry to hear about your glasses, happy888cat. I feel that pain!
I broke a pair in college, and couldn’t replace them immediately, so I was stuck trying to repair them with superglue and duct tape.
Vintage Laura Ashley no 1 is my scent of the morning.
Has anyone ever used fragrancespot for purchases? They have extraordinarily good prices
wrong name
perfumespot
I’ve been price checking for holiday presents and they have the best prices going but I have never heard of them so just want to make sure they are legitimate
Cm8, I have used them once and all was fine. I see both positive and negative online, but I believe they are legit.
Thank you!! And an enabler pin goes to you when I order Lol
;D
It’s my last day of work before my vacation and then some medical leave. Sunday through Tuesday will be trying to do errands and cleaning before my surgery on Wednesday. Wearing Eau Premiere today.
I hope your surgery goes smoothly . Wishing you well.
Oh hey we can be surgery pals this coming week! Mine is on Monday. Feel free to write me if you want to share experiences, complaints, worries, or whatever. cfreeland quadruple nines in the place where those yahoos live.
I do hope it goes well for you! I have been through so many by now that I don’t worry too much but I am always so mad on that morning when I can’t have any coffee. It’s the first thing I ask for when they wake me up in the recovery room–ha ha–they won’t let me have it though!
Calypso, I hope yours goes well, too!
Good luck to you too. I know that feeling without coffee prior to surgery. Hate it!
Good luck, both! I hope all goes well.
I hope all goes well and you recover quickly. Surgery takes a lot out of you, so give yourself some time and space to heal.
Good luck with the surgery. Then vacation. Yippee!!!
Wishing you a speedy healing, Dawn.
Best of luck and a quick recovery, Dawn. ♥️
Good luck with your surgery and recovery Dawn.
Hoping you can get them fixed in the interim. I’ve taken my glasses to the place where they were bought to have them repaired. The same thing happened to me, the screw went flying off.
Ooops, this is for happy888cat above.
Went to the mall today and had it fixed. Yay!
I visited my friend in his yacht which is moored on a buoy in a nice bay in the harbour for a few days until the wind changes direction ( he is sailing around the country). It was nice just to bobbing on the water with a beautiful view of the hillsides , in sheltered water. Much more my thing than being 40 miles offshore in a four metre swell. The yacht is small, 30 feet and smells of diesel and wood varnish. Below deck was like being in a camper van, but a bit more cramped. The previous owners were a German family, with two small kids, who sailed to NZ from England. I couldn’t do it. Wearing Myrrha again.
Sounds like a nice time bobbing up and down in the water
Honestly sailing from NZ to England with 2 small children sounds like the worst idea EVER, and I would feel like that I’m sure on a boat three times that size. Hope they all enjoyed it, I’m sure there are people who would.
Laughed out loud !
Sounds like a wonderful visit! We have friends who’ve chartered sailboats to go up and down the BC coast, so it’s sheltered all the way. One of these days I’d love to do that, but I suppose I should take some sailing lessons to help Mr. Ockeghem first.
Forget about the sheltering sky. I’m all in for the sheltering sea. Sounds like a lovely afternoon♥️
Happy weekend, peeps! Today, I’m bravely coming out of the trees (just like our ancestors did!😜) to check out the lay of the land in town. I have a bunch of things on my To Do list but because I’m a realist and a procrastinator, I’ll probably get (maybe) half the list done. Trying to avoid any kind of hoopla for any kind of reason. It’s a stunning day with blinding sunshine and temps predicted to be in the high 50’s low 60’s. Yesterday was just as gorg and we had a nice long walkabout in the woods. 🌲☀️😍
To keep me warm, cozy, and confident I’m wearing Bengal Rouge. Its one of my all time favorite amber/incense/honey/spice/floral “everything but the kitchen sink” fragrances. Here’s a link to a review here on NST by Angela in the Before Times:
https://nstperfume.com/2019/10/07/papillon-bengale-rouge-fragrance-review/
Before Times?
Pre-pandemic maybe?
👍
That’s a good one!
House twins with you in chaos-controlling Dryad today.
luckily not much chaos today. i went to the flea market nearby and found a great little leather city bagpack for just 2€, sucess!
went with Fils de Dieu in the morning, topped up with Daimiris
Sounds like a perfect day to me.
That’s the good kind of chaos 🙂
Great buy! 🙂
Well, Mr. G and I both wore Ganymede at bedtime last night. He initially liked it, but switched rapidly to “Weird.” And I thought I was in the right mood for it, but found it subtly unnerving for some reason. The dregs on my pajama sleeve this morning were wonderful though. Anyway, this morning I’m in Agar Ébène, which is kind of the softer little sister to Ganymede. Someday I might spring for a big bottle of AE — love it.
Ganymede is one of those fragrances that you love or hate. Meanwhile it garners me the most compliments from women at my local supermarket and men at work
I have taken to wearing perfume to bed lately. Usually either a comforting, soft scent that tends to be too ephemeral for day use, like Solinotes Tonka, or just a smidge of a tester for something I want to sniff but afraid to commit for a whole day. I am trying to decide if it helps me sleep any better – probably not.
Hoping for no chaos today in Safran Troublant.
I’ve been wearing the spray samples I got recently of Choux Choux by Liis and Fleur Éclair by Régime des Fleurs. Below are my mini-reviews.
Per the Liis website, Liis Choux Choux (I love the name!) has the following notes: Top notes are Citrus Peel, Fresh Cream; middle notes are Vanilla Beans, Fleur de Sel, Caramel; base notes are Sandalwood, Cocoa, Mocha. This all sounded pretty good to me provided it would not be heavy and super sweet. And it’s neither heavy nor super sweet. Unfortunately, it’s so light on me that I mostly get the cocoa –in the form of cocoa butter. Kind of like what Profumum Sorriso smells like only not as strong. It’s pleasant but not as interesting as I’d hoped. I find all their fragrances to read fairly light on me.
Fleur Éclair has the following notes per their website:
Cacao Butter, Sugar, Cardamom and Rose Water; middle notes are Cocoa, Orange Blossom and Jasmine Sambac; base notes are Patchouli, Amber and White Woods. I think it’s a beautiful fragrance and that many people will like it. Such a beautiful combination of notes! Unfortunately, I get too much patchouli for my comfort and it prevents me from enjoying it as much. I wish they’d make a version without the patch as for me, it just took over the fragrance, and the other notes were too delicate to stand up to it.
I’m still looking for my perfect floral gourmand. My old Cinéma edt does this pretty well, I am just looking for something maybe a bit more delicate or ethereal. Feel free to post other suggestions!
This isn’t really a response to your post except to say that I follow Kitten Lady on Instagram and she spent about 9 months of her life caring for a tiny kitten with a cleft palate and tube feeding him and helping strengthen him so he could finally have surgery even as a very small kitten–she works a lot with neonatal veterinarians on new and experimental surgeries and it was very very risky. BUT he survived and. has gone on to thrive and can eat normally now! And his name is ChouChou. He is an absolutely adorable white Persian. They kept him because her husband became so devoted to him they couldn’t give him up (she usually doesn’t keep the kittens she rescues). I’ll try to find a link so you can see him. His story was so wrenching for so long, no one thought he would make it.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBZtjIaCPrp/?igsh=bzE5MWlsMGxlY28z
That is him now but he was just an absolute fluff ball as a wee kitten, as you can see here:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CxZCxKTPLQ3/?igsh=MXE1bWU5NDh2bmh5MQ%3D%3D
That is just amazing! As a cat grandma with three that live with me this warms my heart.
So cute!😻
What a nice story! I’m so glad he’s thriving. (And, yes, great name!!)
I made the mistake of liking a foster kitty photo on IG a while back and now my feed is FLOODED with foster kitty fodder. I don’t mind though. I just keep clicking the “like” button! 🐱❤️
And re Liis: what I’m reading as cocoa butter may be what others (on Fragrantica, in particular) are mentioning as coconut. It’s not listed in the notes but maybe some combination of them are coming off as coconut? I can see that.
those fragrances sound delicious 😋 and choux choux is a fun name!
Completely agree w/ thoughts on Choux Choux…it’s nice but very light on me. I haven’t tried anything else from this line.
And I ordered the discovery set from Régime des Fleurs…don’t think I haven’t tried anything from this house either so I am looking forward to it I am pro-patchouli so looking forward to getting my nose on Fleur Éclair…your description sounds lovely.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Choux Choux and Fleur Eclair! The second one sounds like it might be right up my alley.
Woke up this morning very early-had tea and crawled back into bed. I am reading Four Winds by Kristen Hannah and it’s about the drought, and so far this book is making me nothing but thirsty. Talking about dry land and dry dirt-I have been keeping water next to my bed and drinking constantly. Not to mention it hasn’t rained here in a long time and we are in the middle of a drought with no rain in the forecast.
Yesterday a few girlfriend and I went to Fredrick Malle. I really love Portrait of a Lady, but can’t smell it. When we left the shop after I sprayed a bit on my arm-my friend who didn’t sample anything on skin, kept telling me how good I smelled. And I kept smiling and telling her I blew through so many samples and couldn’t smell a thing on me. lol Maybe I should spring for one of those 10ml sprays?
I am wearing Rose Prick today and just came back from the bookstore and bought Horse by Brooks.
I couldn’t read Four Winds, now. I never thought I’d want some rain and the sunshine is so glorious.
There is no rain in the forecast
I think the fantasy vacation from last week’s questions is going to come true; I have been thinking all week about a sniffing/shopping expedition to Paris and I am thisclose to putting a deposit on an April hotel stay. Today I am sampling Aedes de Venustas Cafe Tabac. It’s heavy on the tobacco and reads a bit masculine on me. I think I like Tabac Honey better.
I hope you do it! I visited Paris in April years ago. It was a lovely time of year to be there.
Do it! 😋
Oops, that emoji was supposed to be this one ->🇫🇷😀
😋 is perfect for Paris! 🥖🥐
😉
You’re just thinking of croissants!
Do it! A trip to Paris in April will be wonderful.
sotd = Jardins de Bagatelle
BWFs are much better for me in cooler weather. 🍁 I love JdB from top to bottom. I’m so grateful that a kind NSter sent me a bottle in a swap.
Up next this weekend is Luci ed Ombre, then Golestan on Monday. Maybe. The nose is fickle.
It’s definitely a relief to have an autumn-feeling weekend after the warm windy soCal days this week.🍃 My front lawn was covered in a thick carpet of blown pine needles yesterday.
I adore that Buddha photo up top today. Thank you, Robin!
I have a small statue of a kneeling bodhisattva in my kitchen. Today the changing light cast a beautiful shadow of her. It looked as if she was in deep contemplation and having a conversation with her shadow self. She reminds me to breathe and feel calm amidst the chaos. 😌
Seconding you on the Buddha photo love! 💕
I think it was in my bookmarks for several years, waiting for the perfect day to use it 🙂
I love the way the shadow of your kneeling bodhisattva sounds. Beautiful.
Wafting a generous spray of L’orpheline on a cloudy day. It is meditative, but not gloomy to my nose. I find it very woody and spicy, but I can’t pick out what else I am smelling. L’orpheline, like most of my Serge Lutens collection was a successful blind buy. I harvested the last of my lima beans and pulled out the plants. I am still getting some ripe tomatoes, and we still have some days in the 70’s forecasted for next week, so I am leaving the greenies on the vine. Most will eventually ripen so I will bring them in at the last possible minute! I hope everyone is going to get some rest this weekend. I forgot to mention to Robin that roasted banana ice cream sounds sooooo good. It is now on my bucket list. 🙂 You know, see all 50 states, have a perfectly clean and ordered house, eat roasted banana ice cream…
I love those goals! ♥
I love L’Orpheline also. It is a rather mysterious scent. Now you’ve given me an idea for what to wear today (Sunday). Thanks!
He says he roasts the bananas for 4 hours, just in case you want to try to make it yourself! He adds walnuts, for sure I would add a chocolate swirl too, or maybe chocolate chips.
We gave my mother a 5-pint pack of Salt & Straw ice cream for her birthday way back in August and for various reasons I just put in the actual order this week. It’s coming to my house, so taking votes…shouldn’t I take one bite of each pint when it arrives to be sure they’re ok?
(Ice cream has really become my biggest addiction in my old age.)
Recipe outline noted – bananas and walnuts are sooo good together! I vote for quality control sampling :D.
Small indulgences are lovely and I’m glad you are enjoying yours, Robin. Mine is gelato. My fave place in L.A. has chestnut gelato which is seasonal and I plan to try it this week. I am a big fan of his pistacchio and also his hazelnut gelatos.
I adore gelato but the nearest decent gelato is 30 minutes away and closes all winter…so just as well I am quite happy with decent ice cream!
MossyBerry, it is possible to have tomatoes ripen on an uprooted plant. My Dad did it one year. He carefully pulled up the tomato plant and then hung it upside down in our garage.
We were harvesting vine ripened tomatoes until January that winter, IIRC.
Interesting weekend here — quick weekend trip to Munich to hear a concert and go shopping in my old stomping grounds. It turns out my old stomping grounds have been completely overrun with Americans in NFL gear. 🙂 Apparently this weekend is Germany’s once-yearly NFL game and it’s in Munich, which now explains why it was so hard to find a place to stay when I was looking months ago. I gather the NFL does well on its games in Germany, and it does seem very well organized, with tours for fans, beer halls designated as “lairs” for the teams, etc.
In the midst of it all, I finally had a chance to smell ALL the Lush perfumes I wanted! Their Munich flagship has the full range. Didn’t buy any, because the ones I liked were only available in big bottles, but at least now I’ve smelled them and know which to order online when I get home.
Of course, I had to spend part of my weekend unravelling the chaos of our return trip on the train so that we could at least sit for our four-hour trip home. This was, unfortunately, utterly predictable as Deutsche Bahn is a shadow of its former self. It’s been sad to see what was once such a great train system in this kind of shape now. (The regional trains are still good, but sometimes you have to take the fast trains…sigh.)
Loving you insta photos! Would have loved to eavesdrop on that concert. Hope the train is as comfortable as possible, despite its flagging quality. 🚉
Do tell which Lush scents you will order!!
Hope the concert was wonderful.
The concert really was lovely — Mahler 7 with Sir Simon Rattle conducting. Tickets sold out within 30 seconds of going online and we were lucky to get seats when they later opened up the choir. It gave us an interesting perspective on the concert, sitting behind the orchestra.
Of what I smelled, I liked Kerbside Violet (never got a chance to smell in all these years) and Sappho. There are still more I need to try — I meant to get back later but then we didn’t — but there’s always Paris, I guess.
Thank you! (30 seconds!! That’s crazy, you were very lucky)
I do have Kerbside but never tried Sappho.
That is very funny about seeing American in their NFL gear, and beer hall lairs!!
Happy Birthday, Robin! Best wishes for a magical year ahead for you! May you experience peace, joy, love and an abundance of all the good things that light up your heart and soul. Thank you for all you do to provide us with the kindest and most thoughtful community on the internet. I appreciate your generosity beyond measure, and I hope you know how grateful we are for you.
Enjoy your day!
A lovely tribute and I echo it all!
Many thanks Holly and DeniseH!
I hope you had a very nice birthday, Robin!
Happy belated birthday, Robin!
Thank you!
Yeah, what Holly said…!!!
Happiest of Birthdays to you, Robin!💐💐💐
And thank you, Holly for letting us know🌸
You’re welcome!
Happy birthday, Robin!!
Happy Birthday, Robin! Holly said it the best, and I 2nd all of it! You have been a powerful force for good here. Wishing you another 365 turns around the sun with love a part of each day.
Thanks everyone!
I hope you had a great day! Happy birthday, and ditto to what others have said so eloquently!
My dad and I are going up to Verizon to get new cell phones. Mine is getting to be on its last leg but my dad’s phone is on fumes so we really can’t wait on that. Wearing Havana Vanille today. I was thinking on the original Coco but wasn’t feeling it today. But I am excited to be getting a new phone even though I had to upgrade my plan before I get to the store.
Congrats on the new phone! While the price of these smart phones is staggering, it’s almost impossible to get along without them these days.
A new phone is always a fun thing. Gosh mine is getting old.
Another gorgeous day here and it’s warmed up enough that I can leave my hoodie in the camper. Very casual day of going for a hike with doggo and then settling in to get some cleaning done in the camper and (once again) pare down what is needed and what’s not. Jeans and a T-Shirt kind of day although I’m testing out a very inexpensive eye shadow palette that’s a dupe of a much more expensive one. From the neck up I’m fancy, and from the neck down I’m looking very uninspired. 😃
To top it all off, I’m wearing the golden beauty of Onda VdE which calls to mind the glimmer of the sun between tree leaves. Forgot tomorrow was a holiday so I won’t be able to pick up mail until Tuesday…☹️ My stained glass beads are waiting for me and I’m so looking forward to working on this one. Happy Sunday, all!
Robin! It’s your birthday? You never said but a little bird told us, so a very BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you! 🎂
Seconding! Best birthday wishes 🎂🎂🎂
Happy birthday Robin! An extra dollop of icecream and best wishes for you!
Thank you all!
Happy Birthday, Robin, from one Scorpio to another! So many of my favorite people are born in November, and that includes you.🥳. Wishing you all the best life can bring you in the coming year, and 🙏 for this wonderful site. 🤗
And happy birthday to you Laila!!
Happiest of Birthdays Robin! Thank you for all you do for us here on your site.
Outside there’s a damp winter sun heating up leaves in trees and on the ground— fall in Oakland is the best although we don’t get the kaleidoscope colors in our leaves you see back East. In Miller Harris Blousy, petting the newish kitten, and trying to read NSTin bed. Had cataract surgery on my left eye on Friday, so reading is a challenge. The kitten is purring though, and the syrupy scent I’m wafting suits perfectly 🌺🌸🪻🌻💐🥀
I hope you’re not too uncomfortable and your eye isn’t scratchy. Good luck with healing and the return of clear vision!
You know, I am usually very good about pain, but I hate this! I am being a total baby. The thing in my eye is so far not easy to ignore.
How long does it take to clear after surgery? I know nothing.
I think it depends on the type of surgery and individual recovery. I had some adjustments (cuts in the eye lens) for astigmatism that stung like hell the first two days when I applied the meds (four times a day!). But now the stinging is bearable. Mostly, now things get blurry and it feels like I have a foreign object in my eye–which I do! All in all, I expected to be totally fine instantly, and I was not—but that’s more about me!
Aha, so will that fix your astigmatism? Seriously time for me to start reading up, although I guess if they fixed my astigmatism I’d have to get new glasses.
How nice to have a kitten! I hope you eye will be better soon, too.
The kitten is fabulous! And he and the old boy (7-year old orange tabby) play for hours–and sleep curled up together, which is so funny to see.
Hope you have a speedy recovery and enjoy your kitty! 🐈 ♥️
Glad to hear that you are recovering after the procedure and you have a kitten looking after you! 😸
It’s a very breezy Monday morning and I’m watching the trees tossed about by the wind, and the clouds scudding across the sky. I’m off inland, to my writers residency with the hope that the hot water etc. has been fixed. Fingers crossed. It should be a nice drive up a river valley filled with orchards, and green at this time of year. I’m taking my sleeping bag as the stars are incredible in that dark part of the country and it’s nice to sleep outside ( even though there is a bed) . Scorpio, Mercury and Venus are all visible after dusk, then Orion comes chasing through in the early morning. Traditionally Orion and Scorpio fought each other, so now they are kept at opposite sides/ ends of the sky. Wearing Vierge de Fer.
Oh good, fingers crossed with you!
Happy birthday, Robin and my very best wishes to you! ❤️
Started the day in Volutes EdT (thanks to a very generous NSTer; I love it so much I almost finished my decant, if you can believe that).
I then moved on to Santal Majuscule and ended up, after a shower, with Shalimar MVP. My sweater smells divine.
Thank you adanst! Love Volutes, I should wear that this week.
Happy Birthday, Robin!
Chaos never dies is how I think about my house, especially the housework part. While I hate the sisyphean nature of housework, I like getting my surroundings in some sort of order. I did not get to spend as much time as I wanted outside this weekend – which is unfortunate, as the weather was lovely – but I am sitting here with our dinner in the slow cooker and the laundry done and the house vacuumed and I am in not-bad shape for the coming week.
Wearing a sample of Abel Cobalt Amber. I am not getting wood or cocoa that some reviews mention. It smells very camphorus, like Carmex, which is not entirely a bad thing, just not what I expected.
I like a good camphorus scent! High five on getting housework and dinner done and dusted!
Thank you Zephyr2! And my house too 🙂
Happy Scented Birthday Robin, and many happy returns! 🎉🎁🎂
Got any leftover Roasted Banana ice cream to help celebrate?
Thanks Jalapeno! No, but just had some of my favorite…mint chocolate chip drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. Extra bonus is that nobody ever wants a bite 🙂
A rare commando day post COVID and TDap vaxs. Taste and smell are off, but I made myself have a sensible lunch and dinner 🙂 . Allow me to whine about my moderate headache. Also, the joints that are normally only mildly achy were very achy overnight, but ibuprofen came to the rescue. I am relieved that all shots are done for a year, or 10 years in the case of the TDap. Lots to do next week as we get ready for a family reunion at the beach. I am looking forward to testing Comete with my sister who I think will really like it. Happy Birthday, Robin! Sis and I may just try roasting some bananas next week.
Sympathizing with your vax pain and inflammation. That Td is a real bugger, at least for me. Hope you’re feeling better tomorrow. 💉
Yeesh. Sorry to hear that your senses of taste and smell are off.
Thank you! And sorry, hope you are much better today.
Wearing the last drops of Samsara, which apparently has tonka.
I had a relaxing weekend – sleeping and gaming – but Monday began rather rough. Tons of air alerts and a preventive emergency power outage. The outage lasted a few hours, but we are currently on the fifth air raid alert within the last 24 hours.
I’m so sorry Glannys.
Oh, no! May all the benevolent powers that be keep you safe.
Plus the beauty of Samsara.
Sending you hugs, Glannys and you smell great!
Stay safe Glannys. I think of you often.
So sorry to hear about all those air alerts. Be safe and be well!
Oh ugh Glannys. 5 air raids is 5 too many.
Happy new week everyone!
I can do a week of tonka perfumes easily and was surprised how many perfumes with tonka aren’t listed on Fragrantica, until you check the notes on the individual scent. Today it’s Hypnotic Poison. I do enjoy my days at home doing necessary chores (my domestic goddess agenda) wafting huge clouds of my sotd. HP smells fabulous in big amounts.
Enjoy your day everyone! It’s cloudy, windy, gray and chilly here today, just typical November.
The wind is really something else today!
SOTD is TF Black Orchid and it is not doing it for me today. This fragrance may need to go to “off the island” pile. I used to really enjoy it, but the last few times that I have worn it, it just seems too overwhelming. I am even spraying lightly. Oh well, there are several others I can choose from. Tomorrow is another day.
springpansy-If you are on today, I wanted to let you know I sent you an email.
I’ve been feeling the same way about Black Orchid. I spray it low so I don’t get overwhelmed but it’s in my possible swap section.
I reach for Black Orchid only once in a blue moon, but I am still enjoying it when I do so. Glad I got the 1oz bottle of that one and not anything larger.
It is grey and rainy out. Time to reshuffle the perfumes to bring my more “winter scents” to the fore. I’m in IA’s Cape Heartache, one of only two I settled on to buy (albeit just the travel size, so not much of a commitment 🤔). Its a strong, forest woodsy scent. My issue with Imaginary Authors is the dry down. Many of them share the same sweet, fizziness. This one does as well, but I like it so much that I don’t care.
Yep, you smelled great today!
Happy Veterans Day 🇺🇸 and belated birthday to Robin! 🎂
Sampling Francesca dell’Oro Vanille 08:00 today and notes are below. It’s a lovely green vanilla. I also got a sample of Vanille 12:00 (haven’t tried yet) and they just released Vanille 18:00 and Vanille 24:00 as part of the Vanille All Day collection which I, of course, can get behind. 😉 I think this is the first perfume I haven’t tried from this house.
Head Notes: Mandarin oil, Juicy Pear accord, Sunlight accord, pink Pepper oil
Heart Notes: Vanilla absolute Tasuki, Candied Almond, Orris, Peony
Base Notes: Musk, white Cedarwood, Ambroxan, Tonka Bean absolute
Have tried from this house rather 😉 I had to hunt down a sample because vanilla!!! 🍨
Vanille All Day, excellent!
Super windy and gloomy here today. I had a hard time getting moving this morning and was a little late for lunch. My sotd is Miss Dior Le Parfum.
Hey there. I was looking through my contacts and thought I had your email address and I realized I just had your home address. Please email me so I can have it please.
I will after work.
Looks like you and Kris are getting the wind I had last week with that big honking weather front.
Happy Veterans Day to all our Veterans out there. Thank You!
I’m wearing NV Trayee from a travel spray. A little breezy today but still lovely. You know who is lazing in the sun again. We’re off for a quick little walkabout, then late lunch/early dinner. Cheers!
Our YMCA had a window covered with pictures of local veterans, made me smile and made me think of my dad 🙂
Coco EdP for the Tonka Bean and overall fabulousness😊
Smelling wonderful as always, allo!
Thank you, ringthing!
Coco is definitely fab!
I came late to it but when I did, I really did😋
Wearing Safran Troublant, reminded of it by springpansy yesterday. This went very well for a sunny and warmish day. ☀️
Perfect!

A sunny Veterans Day here, marked by Colorado National Air Guard F-16 flyovers in some parts of the state around lunchtime. A fresh coat of snow on the mountains is glistening in the late autumn sun.
Thinking of, and remembering all the relatives in my family who served.
SOTD = Prada Infusion d’Oeillet.
I bet it is pretty there with the mountain snow. Very chilly here today. It is 36 degrees right now and didn’t get to 50 so it is definitely sweater weather. I took my nice winter coats to get drycleaned so hopefully it won’t get too cold before Thursday.
It was beautiful. And the weather matched the scenery. I think it got up to 61 here.
Lots of sun in the forecast here. Hoping for more rain and/or snow in the next couple of weeks.
