That’s a weird commercial for several reasons. One is that Robbie is so surpassingly gorgeous here as to defy aspirations, that is, can one really even conceive being that beautiful? Also, the missed encounter is a strange premise for something that is surely supposed to be a hot steamy meetup. Finally, the man on the motorcycle does nothing for me, since he looks like he’s just fine on his own out there riding along the road in the beautiful mountains. Each of them looks to me to be a monument to narcissism in a way that’s kind of off-putting. But what do I know? I’m surely not in the ad’s target audience.
From what I skimmed quickly this morning, the idea is supposed to be something more like hey, you can enjoy yourself even if the man doesn’t show up aka self-reliance? Not a bad message but I can see why you went the way you did with it.
I too see all your points! I will add for me, one who really enjoyed The Barbie Movie, the camara showing her feet evokes the “…and my heels are on the ground!” moment in the movie. However, since Margot as you say is too pretty for words, perhaps she will get young people to try No. 5 as they should!
I thought Marion Cotillard was the face of No. 5. and Margot Robbie the face of Gabrielle Essence. Wonder why they change it, I find Marion Cotilliard beautiful as well, but maybe Robbie is more appealing to a younger audience.
That is my guess…they want a younger audience. They announced Robbie as the new face last month.
