It's Almost-Friday and National Relaxation Day. Birthdays: Sir Walter Scott, E. Nesbit, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Julia Child, Oscar Peterson, Jimmy Webb. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm the same as I was on Tuesday and Wednesday (except today I also participated in National Relaxation Day by oversleeping): I am on a road trip this week and will be behind in all the usual ways (posting will be light, I will be even slower than my usual slow to read comments and attend to emails). My fragrance, possibly for the whole week, is my DIY lotion with blood orange & ylang ylang.
Reminder: 8/16 will be Mood Changer Friday...wear a perfume that instantly changes your mood. Suggested by pixel; possibly a repeat.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m trying Via Camerelle from a decant. Great citrus scent, but the marjoram is what makes it special. Nice!
I love the scent of majoram, and I like citrus. This is worth investigating!
So, for those who are curious, I went on that boat ride and had a good time – until it started raining, of course; luckily, we were just about returning to the boat rental dock. There were 9 of us and the bff’s dog, and I even swam a little. Somebody had a pair of binoculars and I had a lot of fun drooling over the gorgeous houses that lined the residential sides of the lake. Afterwards, a few of us went over to her house to watch a movie (Walk of Shame with Elizabeth Banks – cute flick) . She invited me to karaoke that evening but I was tired and my back was hurting a bit. But I am glad I went sailing.
I’m so glad you went! Thanks for reporting back.
That’s great. Glad it went well for you.
Sounds like it was a success!
Yes, boat rides are good in that way, for seeing the fronts of fancy lake homes that you can’t get a glimpse of from the roads in back of them!
Happy to hear that you went and had a good time!
😀
Hello.
Sotd is Diptyque 34 Boulevard Saint Germain. I have this constant irrational fear that Diptyque will discontinue the gorgeous bottle and make this in the same flat oval discs and hike up the price. I need to buy a bub soon just in case. Lol..?
Summer heat is still going strong so I am cooling off by making myself a big glass of mango yoghurt smoothie topped with crushed pecans.
Definitely a bub — half the fun of perfume (for me, anyway) are the beautiful bottles, and so many perfumers are “simplifying” theirs.
I agree, bottles are so important!
Yay for smoothies.
It was yum. 😋
Sounds like 34 Boulevard Saint Germain is BUB-worthy, then.
Definitely for me. I am pretty sure I will get one.
The weather forecast for today changed suddenly in the last 24 hours — was going to be sunny and very hot, and now clouds have rolled in. It will still be warm, upper 70s, but I’d rather have that than 97f. Anyway, because it’s cool and overcast this morning, I indulged in Profumum Alba over Le Dix dusting powder. Yum.
Smelling wonderful SheriG.
Thank you!
SOTD is Lush Avocado Co-Wash body spray. It is so uplifting and cheerful, and it always brings a smile on my face. Litsea cubeba, bergamot and olibanum – very zesty but also a bit sweet.
However, it has almost disappeared from my skin after five hours, so I’ve sprayed Memo Winter Palace right now. Also citrussy, but with spices and resins. To my surprise, I also got a sharp synthetic note from it this time. Maybe it will go away later.
Lots of good smellin’ people here already-I’m in Lutens Dompteuse Encagee, which is really nice. It’s just a gorgeous floral. I am one of the six people on earth who enjoyed Nuit de Cellophane, and this seems to have a similar vibe. I have no problem with a fragrance that is simply pretty, and easy to wear.
Hope it’s a decent day for all the NST readers 🙂
One of the six people here😀, you smell very nice, I even got a bottle this quarter because it was a good price.
I have a sample of it and still can’t make my mind if I like it or not. At some stage I do, then I don’t, then I do again and so on.
IIRC, I liked Nuit de Cellophane when I was able to get a sniff of it on paper. Should try it on skin sometime.
I got some nice news today, my totally forgotten about small pension from the State of Wyoming is actually going to pay me a lump sum of back payments from when I could have first started receiving this payment, from 2013! This is pretty nice unexpected chunk of change that will be deposited to my bank here the end of the month. I foresee a little scent shopping spree in my future! Now that adorable hubby has become a miracle husband, retirement is quite enjoyable. Hope everyone else has a nice little surprise happen to them today, even if it is just a very pleasant sniff of perfume…
Oh, wanted to add, great image of that pelican, Robin. When I lived in Laramie Wyoming, there were flocks of pelicans that lived in some of the large prairie lakes near by, and my boyfriend of the time and I would go fishing, they would fly over our little canoe, hoping for a snack or lost bait, or just out of curiosity. They are BIG birds…
I saw pelicans up close at an aviary last week and was really surprised at how big they are. Yay for your windfall!
How cool!!
And belated congrats on your windfall, that’s lovely.
That is so unexpected, and so nice-enjoy it, and please tell us what you buy with your extra $$$ .
That’s great news! Report back on any scented treats!
Nice windfall! Looking forward to seeing your scented shopping.
My plan is some Irisss, some vintage Dune if I can find some, a BUB of Mon Precieux Nectar, maybe a Chanel to be names later. My tastes are not complicated, just sort of expensive. I am open to suggestions, however!
Vintage Dune lover here, and I have had good luck on Ebay.
Yes I lurk there a bit!
Glad of your good news, definitely a scented spree is in order.
Very cool news about your windfall! Enjoy!
My 14 year old little Car needs a new drive shaft. It will probably go toward a newer vehicl2…
Best of luck with the car shopping/hunt!
Love today’s choice of picture!
SOTD is DelRae Amoureuse another big perfume, empowering and soothing at the same time.
I have a sample of this-it’s gorgeous in all sorts of weather. You smell great!
Oh, big is the word! You’re quite the vixen today!
Diptyque Do Son for a green floral kick!I can smell Spring in the air!🕺🏼🕺🏼✌🏻
Do Son is so pretty! Which version do you have?
It’s a fresh bottle in-I think-edt?But so good!
I’m wearing the same T-Shirt as yesterday so I’m still wafting Zelda. This is one of the longest lasting perfumes I own. I’d say the top three are this one, Hera from Papillon Perfumes (could still smell that one after I washed and tumble dried my top!!) and my Queen of the Crypt perfume, aka Chypre Mousse. All of them have lasted not just hours, but DAYS, and in some cases if I’ve stored the top back in the drawer because it was still clean, these perfumes can last MONTHS. Always a nice surprise when I pluck a shirt out and get a waft of great smelling perfume on the very, very, very far dry down. Total mood lifter. ☺️
Happy almost Friday Day!
Is that En Voyage Zelda? I love it and it does last forever.
Yes, that’s the one!
I know this won’t persuade many (any?) to try it, but Zoologist Tyrannosaurus Rex has the longest lasting dry down of any perfume I own. It’s nuclear! The good news is that the dry down is just heavenly and very different from that “raw burned meat” opening (which I also happen to like).
On another topic, I’m very pleased with the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen that you praised. I love it, it’s so light and does not cause me to have that feeling that my skin can’t breathe. I am still giving some of my other new K-beauty products a try and do enjoy the two Peripera lip tints I bought: the shades are Berry Pretty and Follow Rose.
Glad the beauty products and sunscreen are working for you. I went in on a split of T.Rex when it first came out but I never got to the dry down because I didn’t like the opening. I’m not sure what I did with it because I just recently got a new storage box for my perfumes and I don’t remember seeing the decant anywhere…
Burning and Pink Lavender and Espresso candles today and wearing Vanilla Flash today. It’s been forever since I have worn anything by Andy Tauer.
I wore VF the other day. I got my bottle when it was first released and it’s gotten so much more enjoyable over time. I find it very smooth now whereas when I first got it, it seemed a bit disjointed to me.
I keep looking at bottles of Chanel Eau Premier and a backup of No 5 L’Eau, so today I got out my vintage bottle of #5. It smells so wonderful, why am I looking for a remake? I just need more of the original. Of course, I really like Eau Premier and L’Eau….
It’s raining here and we need it badly. I just got a rain coat from Land’s End on clearance. Quick PSA: if anyone needs some good basics, including outerwear, Land’s End has free shipping, no minimum, all weekend.
Thanks for reminding me of Lands End. I think it’s going to be a rough winter, and I could use a new coat.
Glad to hear folks who need rain are getting some! ☔
SOTD = 4160 Tuesdays We’re Not Out of the Woods Yet EDP
Even just the name alone makes me want to smile! I found this by chance as I was slowly cleaning up (still a good ways to go, but this better than nothing).

Regarding laundry, since a number of is mention it every so often, do you happen to have a combo washer / dryer? I am not talking about two separate devices that you can stack one on top of the other but a true combo. Here’s an article from the Wall Street Journal. Note: You may hit a pay wall …
https://www.wsj.com/lifestyle/laundry-washer-dryer-appliances-6b515569?st=3ok7w1v1hlfrjof&reflink=article_copyURL_share
… I need to call the WSJ since I got a price increase notice about my subscription.
The name of your sotd made me smile too🙂
Good luck with the cleaning project!
Love the name of that perfume!
I have no experience with these combo machines, but they seem popular in Europe and a great idea for space-saving.
Awesome perfume name!
No experience with the combo machines, but I wouldn’t want one. I like being able to wash one load of laundry while drying another.
My SOTD is Amouage Fate. I didn’t put it on for a mood change but just because I happened to see the bottle when I was looking for something else. I didn’t spray much on because it’s very potent and I am going to be meeting up with an old friend for coffee later this afternoon. In fact I wish I had put more on because I love how it makes me smell (and feel). I definitely feel a bit more vamp-y and elegant than I normally do when it’s just me and the cats.
Amouage Fate is gorgeous!! 🤩
I’m wearing the always fabulous Mitsouko. It’s an EdT I bought about 10 years ago, the bottle is getting well down, so a BUB is definitely on the purchase list.
Raining but humid here. I am wearing Clean Ultimate Beach Day. I’m hanging on to Summer.
School starts on Monday and I am actually a little sad about it.
School started here on Tuesday. I now have to pay attention to when school busses are out and about…
Hello!
I have been in and out due to some things needing to be done, also had a friend visit from out of town but hope everyone is having a lovely week! 🌹
Again, smelling of a Pacifica rose facial spray that I spritz to combat the dry and nasty heat. Having a strawberry cream soda and enjoying a partial view of the mountains at the moment. Very sunny and clear 🏜 but definitely warm!
Wanting to sniff that Hermès!
Have a great day! ❤️
Are you at an old-fashioned soda fountain?
Work has been pretty stressful lately, so I only put perfume on a couple hours ago. I’m in my new decant of Perfumer H Gold, a citrus chypre. A very nice choice for the day. Luckily, some of my stress has abated.
Glad to hear that you are dealing with less stress now!
I’m in Shalimar MI. Pretty much all iterations of Shalimar make me feel instantly cozy and warm, all of the flankers too, except maybe the Souffles.
I agree the Souffles are not very cozy.
Beautiful blue skies here today and temps in the upper 80s. Perfect late summer weather.
My brother had a second outpatient vein procedure today. It seems that has been a big part of his health issues. So he’s getting both legs taken care of this summer. Today was dealing with a rather big varicose vein; he said they called it “foam ablation”. He was in pretty good spirits when I talked to him earlier this afternoon.
SOTD = still hanging out in Lime, Gardenia & Benzoin by Dame.
I hope this elevates some of his health issues!
He’s noticed some relief after the first procedure. Wearing compression socks helped a bit, but his situation is progressive and would have gotten worse without surgical intervention.
Lots of cardiac and circulatory issues in the family medical history, unfortunately.
Thanks for all the crossed fingers yesterday, I did get a seat upgrade on today’s flight. Now for 10 days of sun, sand, and relaxation. I read the new Allison Montclair Sparks and Bainbridge book, “Murder at the White Palace” on the plane. I’m wearing one spritz of Dior Tobacolor for this evening.
