It's Tuesday and International Lefthanders Day, plus Alfred Hitchcock’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I am on a road trip this week and will be behind in all the usual ways (posting will be light, I will be even slower than my usual slow to read comments and attend to emails). Tea at the moment is Numi Chinese breakfast, scent at the moment is my DIY lotion with blood orange & ylang ylang.
Reminder: 8/16 will be Mood Changer Friday...wear a perfume that instantly changes your mood. Suggested by pixel; possibly a repeat.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Blue & White Cranes teapot from Metropolitan Museum of Art is $45 at Au Bon Goût.
Safe travels Robin! I hope it’s a fun road trip.
I’m in Byredo De los Santos, which I sometimes forget about. Easy to wear and I like the sage note.
It’s another beautiful, perfect morning here! The last couple of days I have been counting my work day minutes until I can take my lunchtime walk in the sun!😎
Thank you! Absolutely gorgeous day here too. Hope you got that walk!
I think I managed to sleep off yesterday’s cold symptoms. I’m still cautious, but I feel fine.
This week’s CP is both easy and challenging for me. I believe all the scents I like are mood changers—I enjoy them because they make me feel good. So, I guess I’ll wear whatever I want, focusing on the feelings the scent evokes.
Today, it’s Lush Karma solid. With dominant notes like pine and patchouli, you might expect a quiet, meditative scent. However, the sweet orange adds zest, making the scent cheerful and outgoing. It gives off happy vibes and makes me think of a hippie convention.
I’m glad you’re feeling better. Also, I loved seeing your flowers on Insta!
Thank you! Glad you liked the flowers. 💖
YAY for feeling better!
Hello and HELLO to all my fellow lefthanded siblings! How many of us are here I wonder?
Sotd is JM Orange Marmalade. Simple, fresh, not too sweet and no bitterness.
Lunch is Shake Shack. I am craving their milkshake (they have a limited pistachio offering which is SOO good – Vanilla ice cream, Italian pistachios, salted honey and crispy tuille bits).
Another lefty checking in! 🙂 that milkshake sounds incredible!
Raising my left hand…
Another lefty in the house!✌🏻😉
jinx!
*waves left hand*
Lefty here, too.
Lefty here!
I salute each of you with my dominant left hand, lefties untie! 👋😊
lefties UNITE 😅
I’m a wee bit fond of accidental letter reversals.
Another lefty in the house.
SOTD = Mitsouko, I wear it once every 12 days, and then seems enough time to keep the allergic reaction at bay, or at least sub-clinical, to the point that I don’t notice. Mitsouko is the most mysterious of scents to me – what is it that makes it smell so good?
ok, off to get some seeds into pots for my little optimistic fall container garden…I am planting things that I can eat the leaves of from the time they are big enough, until it freezes. Low effort, fresh greens, happy fall garden.
Then to the speciality Ag store to get a bottle of this really good Jordanian olive oil, and then a pedicure, last of the year. In the winter when no one judges my toes, I just whack off my toenails myself, but in the summer, I like to look like I made an effort, which means, someone else made an effort and I tipped them.. 🙂 I have had hot pink polish, probably today I will go with a mother of pearl color, as my toes may have enough tan to make that look good. Generally white polish and my pale skin look like too much soaking in a bathtub, you know that effect?
Happy Tuesday, all.
Oh, want to add, really nice teapot, good price, and the MOMA store always had lots of other cool things that repeat after me, I do not need, I do not need, I do not need… LOL.
A hot pink pedicure sounds fantastic!
I’m in Demeter Tomato which always reminds me of picking tomatoes from my father’s small vegetable plot.
Yep, you smelled great today!
I am wearing Rosa Moceniga and i feel in a rose garden in Italy.
Lots to do this week before my vacation, looking forward to that.
Yay for an upcoming vacation 🙂
Lovely teapot at a very reasonable price.
It has begun! Was in Smith’s yesterday and saw my first pumpkin spice product of the season- coffee creamer. Did I buy it? Heck yeah! My favorite part of the year is inching closer and closer! Also, got a lot of rain yesterday, overnight, and it looks to continue today so temps are WAY down! Makes me want to skip around like a 5 year old!
I’m wearing generous sprays (read: too many!🤫) of SL Vetiver Oriental today. My child and I are alone in the office today so I went a little Hajusuuri. 😊 Every single perfume in my collection moves me in some way at an emotional level, otherwise why bother? So, confident in saying I’ll be CP compliant all week.
Also, I’d like to give a shout out to every single camper that has visited here from a foreign country. Germany, Czech Republic, Britain, Canada, Mexico, France, ad infinitum…The most polite, kind, thoughtful, considerate, interesting, generous, and courteous campers EVER! Many American campers could learn a thing or two (and more!) from you. Just saying…
Happy Tuesday!
Marshalls/tj maxx/etc are already full of halloween stuff to which I say, yes please! And keep it coming!
I know Hobby Lobby has been for at least a month!
Cheered by your comments about foreigners, I think we are at our worst behaviour in our own country, so not judging Americans too harshly but I wish you plenty of easygoing campers.
Thank you, I made a mental note to start stalking Costco pumpkin pies. 😍🥧🍽️😋
Agree about the awesomeness of European campers, im always happy when I hear hear spoken German in the vicinity of my campsite.
Krispy Kreme had a Pumpkin Spice donut out. And I was seeing Halloween decor at JoAnn Fabric earlier this month.
You’re smelling wonderful! And I am SO looking forward to pumpkin cream cheese at Trader Joe’s. Can’t wait for Fall!
Ikea has had their Halloween stuff for weeks too.
Stressing a bit because I’m packing for a trip to the east coast. After all my decades of life, why can I not learn to pack efficiently? I really should be better at this. Invariably, I bring too much stuff, because I worry about forgetting something important, and then bemoan my lack of discipline.
The one joy I have in this process is choosing which perfumes to bring – for some reason this doesn’t stress me out.😊
Anyway, for my day of travel prep, I’m wearing Él from Arquiste, which has olfactory echoes of Kouros and Antaeus. Potent, hairy-chested stuff.
It took me a long time to get myself there, but once I internalized in my gut (and not just my head) that there are pharmacies and laundry facilities pretty much wherever I’m traveling, I was able to relax my need to pack everything little I might need and just pack the things I could not get by without.
Yum, Antaeus. Sometimes I really miss the 80s. Have a good trip.
I hear you. I seriously overpacked for my trip at the beginning of this month. Someday I will figure it out…
Safe travels and enjoy your trip!
Bon voyage, Daniel! I say, as long as you can schlep it all yourself and aren’t burdening anyone, pack away!
I’m wearing iris silver mist from a sample. I don’t think I’m woman enough to wear this, its humongous!
a comment on fragrantica it says its been discontinued…
Really? If it’s true, I will probably have to hoard my 15ml decant to a certain extent.
Finishing my sample of Sale Gosse today.A really fun and cheerful perfume.Happy Tuesday!
Happy Tuesday JB!
Yesterday I wore no 5 edt and today it’s Eau Premiere. My mother who is 69 said that Mitsouko smell like an old lady and way too dated. But she like Light Blue, which I hate. Light Blue seems to be what everyone wears now.
Well, I am 65 and I love Mitsouko and Light Blue turns on me so I can’t wear it.
I’m house twins with you and in a different iteration of Chanel No 5.
I can’t stand Light Blue. I want to run away from it as fast as I can.
That makes me laugh, and shows how much perspective matters.
I’m spending the morning in Tam Dao edt for its calming properties.
I agree – this is definitely a calming scent. You smell wonderful.
Perfect 🕉️😌
I’m wearing Ormond Jayne Woman because I chose it the other day and then smelled so good later on–it’s got fantastic staying power. So why not give it another go? It makes me feel like a sylvan animal somewhere, hmmm, maybe a fox in a little back yard in London?
No plans for today except helping a friend take her somewhat difficult kitty to the vet for a checkup after some recent surgery.
Hopefully kitty behaves!
You smell beautiful ! Good luck at vet.
You’re a good friend, hope the kitty will be cooperative.
your kitty compassion makes my heart happy 😻💕
You smell fabulous! OJ Woman is such an evocative fragrance.
Hope that the kitty wrangling went well today!
One of my young perfume friends cleans for me when I badly need some self care and she was here today. Of course we had to do some sniffing. So I started the day by sampling Replica Lazy Sunday Morning. It faded pretty quickly so I moved on to Perles de Lalique, which my friend hadn’t tried and liked. Next up, JHAG Not a perfume, which smells pretty perfume-y to me but I like it. It was fun and my house looks nice too.
Perles de Lalique is a gorgeous dark rose scent. Too warm to wear it here right now, though.
I think I can be like Deva and be CP compliant all week. Almost any of my scents can change my mood. Today it is No 5 L’Eau as I had to do a presentation and didn’t want to smell too strong.
Chanel has several perfumes I can think of that are excellent mood changers. Perfume armor, anyone?
Bond No. 9 Madison Avenue
Wearing Carachel Noa today. I’ve been on a gentle musk kick – I recently discovered Narcisco Rodriguez’s Pure Musc For Her. I had bought it in a purse spray 3 pack with the For Her EdT & EdP but never paid it attention. Well, I love it. It has a little bit of a honeyed beeswax note at the beginning that makes me happy.
And Noa is pleasant and easy, and goes really well with my morning work tasks and hot cup of coffee.
Yes to Noa, you smell great, I find it very original.
I thunked a couple of bottles of Noa back in the day. Enjoyed it very much!
I love Pure Musc too.
Great CP – the act of spraying on perfume lifts my mood every time 🙂 .
Today, my mood will be lifted by Divine L’Été Narguilé.
I tried that Divine when I was in Lyon in June. I just couldn’t make up my mind about it. Interesting scent, though.
Finally starting to feel better enough to do work (which is good…I was panicking as the tasks piled up). Major breakthrough today: I could smell my Rose Jam shower gel! Fingers crossed that all traces of anosmia disappear soon. Other than R
(Clumsy fingers.) Other than Rose Jam, I am commando — but will do a tat spritz of something good and strong later on.
Glad you feel better and no after effects.
Glad you’re feeling better. I LOL’d at the comment “all traces of anosmia disappear soon” z
Good news that your sense of smell is starting to return!
Yay, that didn’t take too long!
Have a good trip, Robin!
Currently I’m wafting acetone because I’m doing my nails. Afterward, I think I will put on some Pulp. Sunday’s garage sale went well, I had a steady stream of people. Unfortunately I had a number of larger items for sale and about half the visitors were either walking or on bikes. When all was said and done I figure I made about $4/hr. But the unsold things went to Goodwill and are out of the house.
Congratulations on the garage sale and the Goodwill trip.
I wore Eau du Sud today. It was very hot, by Luxembourg standards, so a bracing citrus was definitely a good idea!
Safe travels, Robin.
You smelled great today austenfan.
And thank you!
Happy you will be traveling Robin, sending safe vibes. The cranes are beautiful.
Thank you Aurora!
Saw flocks of geese heading south today, was a bit of a surprise, I am never ready.
I forgot about perfumes. Today Dior Addict Eau Délice which I wear much more often than my Addict which lies neglected, ED has a delicious tart/sweet redcurrant note which makes me happy every time. I was still in the mood for fruit so tonight it’s RP Visa extrait, fruitier than the EDP.
You make me hunt down Addict flankers whenever you wear Eau Delice.
😀 Ah, I believe there were a few and I have only ED, an Eau Fraîche IIRC but I never tried it.
Eau Delice had a pretty version of the Addict bottle, but it did not play nice with me at all.
I can see the redcurrant not working for everyone.
I think (but am not sure) that the only berry note which works for me is raspberry.
SOTD = Broken Anatomy Burnt Remedy
Burning woods, tobacco and earthy. I will say that upon first application, I had a sinking feeling of something not quite hitting right. The drydown was where the beauty lies! 🤎
https://www.instagram.com/p/C-n6cshRQz2/?igsh=d2I5MmNjdzkxeXdp
In other news, I think I may have mentioned that my nephew is in the Navy and more specifically a submarine. Although we will never know, I hope he has not been deployed to the Middle East …
smoky scents overwhelm my nose so quickly, you are a perfume daredevil! Very glad the drydown did right by you.
Thinking good thoughts for your nephew! my stepdad was in the Navy as a young man, and he didn’t like to talk about it for the rest of his 83 years.
Thank you dearest!
On not speaking about service, I really wonder if it’s related to one’s own reticence, a code of conduct or just something so awful that things were better left unsaid?
Oh I hope he is safe wherever he goes!
I can do tobacco but not smokey or burning.
same for me, smoky is hard, tho tobacco smells nice 😌
Thanks, lillyjo. I can do Smokey, burning, tobacco, I can do them all 🤣🎼musical 🎶 🎵.
I’m the opposite. I can handle smoky perfumes, but tobacco usually makes me ill.
I love them all!
More for you then!
Went with some Neroli Outrenoir today
perfection! 😍
sotd = Berdoues Assam of India
totd = iced Tropical Passion black tea from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf
Because iced tea for Tuesday and perfume bottle elephants are a winning combination. ☕❄️🐘😍
hi fragrant friends, I’ve missed you so much, and after several years (eep!) of lurking here on NST I’m putting ME back in my perfuME cupboard.
Wearing scent more often again feels great, and thinking scented thoughts is so pleasing for my busy brain.
I’ll be breaking out ye olde favourites and looking to y’all for inspiration on what’s new — xoxoxo!
Welcome back!
thank you, Sarah 💕
Great to see you!
👋😊 great to see you, too!
Nice to see you tiffanie! I always think of you when I wear Hiris🥰
Glad to hear that you are enjoying perfume again!
Glad you’re back … and with a great smelling perfume!
Nice to see you, tiffanie. Welcome back!
Cristalle edt for working from home today. This one sparks joy.
Cristalle is indeed very joyful!
Perfect choice!
Started the morning in SL Sa Majesté La Rose. This fragrance always evokes my early perfumista days and makes me feel happy and secure.
P.S. I hope you have a great trip, Robin! I thought of you last night when Mr. allo and I played the “Give me a letter and I’ll find a perfume to match” game. He picked “G” and I picked Grand Chalet (I know how much you love Linden flowers🌸)
AND love Grand Chalet in particular too, so happy if you associate me with it 🙂
Safe travels, Robin!
Watching another afternoon thunderstorm roll thru the area here. The seasonal monsoon has finally kicked in for Colorado. Love the smell of petrichor as the concrete and asphalt cool down.
Got a bonus donut when I stopped in at Krispy Kreme this afternoon! The “Hot Light” was on, so they gave me a fresh glazed donut with my purchase. Yum! 😋🍩
SOTD = Lime, Gardenia & Benzoin from Dame Perfumery again. Maybe this perfume did a bit of macerating and aging gracefully in the bottle? It smells much better than the sample I had.
Love those fresh donuts. Yum!
It was so light and fluffy! Practically melted in my mouth.
I did not know about the “Hot Light” rule!
I only learned about it today!
We had Krispy Kreme for a few years and then they were gone. They seemed to always be busy so not sure what happened. I really miss their donuts.
We are getting the rain tomorrow. We can use a little now.
The only Krispy Kreme that I know of here is a 20-minute drive away. It’s for the best, though; otherwise I would eat FAR too many donuts!
Glad to hear that you are getting some rain, too. Lots of parched places this summer.
Thank you Jalapeno! And yay for fresh donuts.
The kid’s and I had a nice lunch today with my Aunt ( my Son’s Godmother) I wore TF Orchid Soliel. I also washed my front windows inside and out! They sure needed it.
Lucky you! You smell nice!
TF Orchid Soleil is one of the perfumes “that got away” for me. By the time I made up my mind that I wanted it, it was gone. 😢
Bravo for washing your windows!
Family lunch and clean windows, two wonderful things.
I’m in Bronze Goddess. Don’t think I’ve worn it much this year but I really enjoy it when I do. This is one I’ve even had a compliment on (out in the wild!)
Whoo hoo for perfume compliments!
