It's Memorial Day weekend — summer at last! — and we're celebrating the holiday with our standard open thread poll.
Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the fragrance you're thinking will be your most-worn this coming summer (or winter), whatever. And if you have a friend or family member who died while serving in the armed forces, and you want to tell us about them, please do.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…
(And a quick PSA...the splitmeet will close on Sunday night, or when I remember to close it on Monday.)

Wearing 4160 Tuesdays Truth Beauty Freedom Love on this gorgeous spring day. Got my last whiff of lilac and admired all the new blooming irises on my walk with Mila this morning.
The irises that line the edge of our yard along the sidewalk are just coming into bloom this week. Such a gorgeous shade of purple.
Cazaubon, the lilacs haven’t even started to bloom here yet. We still have that to look forward to. There’s a beautiful post about iris on Bois de Jasmin, too, in case that’s interesting to you.
Decided to wear something special this morning: Trayee from Neela Vermeire. I must admit, I smell good.😊
Seeing a matinee this afternoon – a revival of George Bernard Shaw’s “Misalliance.” I love Shaw, but don’t know this one, so it’ll be a treat.
Happy Saturday, everyone.
I haven’t tried that one but looks like one I would want to try. Enjoy the movie!
Smelling wonderful!

I think I’ll wear Eau de Rochas today.
Just going to pretend I didn’t see this
😁
Lalalala ….
Lol!
I’m wearing Harvest Mouse today. I’m leaving in a little while to have all four tires on the car replaced, the wear bars are showing and the tires are more than 10 years old. What a hit to the wallet when I’d rather spend money on more fun things. Like perfume, or travel.
We will be doing the same at the end of the summer. Ugh.
There is nothing as un-sexy as dropping a big stack of $ on tires. Ugh.
Busy week this week, combined with another busy (2-day) weekend; we had our long May weekend last week. Mr. Ockeghem is trying to meet up with all our friends here before he leaves in 2 weeks, which means a lot of cooking / prep for me. He keeps telling me things like, “My driver’s license is about to expire”, which stresses ME out: “You leave in 2 weeks…you don’t have an appointment yet????” Oh well, it is lovely to catch up with people before we go, at least.
Not sure on SOTD yet; I’ve been wearing a lot of Box of Eels extrait this week. Might change it up, but it’s been such a rainy, cool few days that I’m not feeling inspired. I’m ready for summer.
It’s interesting how, in relationships, matters that should naturally occupy their thoughts often end up weighing on yours instead.
Hello!
Bel Respiro, which is my fave green scent.
Hope everyone has a great Saturday 🌹
Omega, Saturday is already a blur, but you did smell great yesterday! Hope your weekend is going well.
Gearing up for another day of retail hell. I think I will go with Kyoto today. I am happy that I am off tomorrow and Monday.
You’ve chosen the perfect fragrance. I hope the day brings pleasant surprises.😊
Hope Kyoto works its calming magic for you!
Enjoy your days off!
Wearing L’Ombre Dans L’Eau and enjoying this unique rose.
Fragrant Inquiry: Would anyone who has Roberto Greco’s Oeillères be interested in swapping a decant for a decant of Greco’s Rauque?
If so, ping me at le sli co rth el l aaaat geee male
Clarification: I have Rauque and would love to try Oeillères
I can’t help on this, but do have a question for you. Of the Zara perfumes by Olivia, what was your favorite? I am thinking about Blanc Libre since they are so inexpensive.
Livre Blanc is what it’s called.
Angelique Noire today
I am contemplating jumping on the split -someone talk me out of it.
Finished Watch us Dance last night-great book and I have a deeper understanding of Morocco by reading the first and second book to this series.
Now I am reading the Forbidden Notebook
Farmers market, did a nice walk in Central Park and now I am making lunch. Quiet weekend here..
Farmers market and a stroll through Central Park sounds really nice.
Yes! Now back to more reading 📖
The last few days have been pretty warm, +30ºC with the humidex, but today is a more reasonable 18°C so I wore Lush Let The Good Times Roll for a bit of fun.
I have long thought that the seasons should begin on the first day of a month: June 1st the first day of summer, September 1st the first day of autumn, and so on. It feels more natural. I suppose there are sound reasons for doing on the equinoxes but it always annoys me to not actually know when the official first day of a season is.
I believe the meteorological seasons do begin on the 1st of the month — so you can legitimately stick with your definition! https://www.farmersalmanac.com/what-are-meteorological-seasons-vs-astronomical-seasons
I had absolutely no idea and I’m delighted to find this out at last. Thanks!
Absolutely gorgeous day here. Trying to get my husband out the door. I want to head up to the lavender place to get a hostess/housewarming gift for friends we are seeing on Wednesday.
Because it’s spring and such a pretty day, I’m wearing JM Tangy Rhubarb. So delicious. My husband is eating an English muffin with cherry rhubarb jam.
There was a lavender shop close to where I used to live, loved getting things from there. Have fun shopping, if you go:). Now about that cherry rhubarb jam 😋
Hello peeps! Quick drive by to say I’ve been wearing everything from summer scents to deep warm winter scents as the weather here is giving me whiplash. CSP Coco Figue, Vanille Banane, PdE Corsica Furiosa, Tauer’s Vanilla Flash, Shalimar MVP, SSS Tabac Aurea….quite the mix up of scents. Hope you all are well!
👋🏻 Changeable is the name of the weather here, too.
Hope you are well too, you have been smelling great.
Hope you are having a good time Deva. You are sure smelling well.
Well/good, whatever.
I’ve begun to work my way through my set of Parfum d’Empire samples, and so far I’m 3 for 3. Azemour and Musc Tonkin the last couple of days, and now in Salute! Today’s is a great summer scent, but the lasting power is not there. Loved wearing Azemour; it goes through different stages on me. Very interesting! Musc Tonkin was my favorite so far. I don’t get too much skank, and it’s just sweet enough on my skin. Now the question is: who’s going to win the challenge – this, or FB’s Unspoken Musk?
Decisions, decisions.
First-world problems here, all right. 😁
Yay Azemour.
I don’t think I tried Salute.
I knew you would like that. 😉
Honestly, you may as well skip Salute! As much as I love this house in general, there always has to be one that comes in last.
In Assam of India for a desperately needed haircut. Then home chores — the dust is deep, y’all.
Oh, I’ll see your dust and raise you a dirty kitchen floor 😉
I’m in Nishane Tuberoza X today.
Hope the weekend is going well lucasai!

19C and sunny for this bank holiday long weekend, it’s not Memorial Day here, it’s spring bank holiday, a little prosaic.
So, I started to clean the windows, I started on the living room first because it’s the room with the most windows. Now relaxing as it is evening here, and will continue the spring cleaning tomorrow.
Continuing with samples, early this morning Perris Monte-Carlo Patchouli nosy be extrait de parfum, very nice, I like it even better than Nicolaï Patchouli intense, that one is a lovely green patchouli but the Perris is more my style, however I have enough patch scents with SL Bornéo and AdP Profumo, and Réminiscence patchouli, so no bottle on the horizon. This evening it’s Weil Zibeline Parfum de toilette, my most animalic perfume, I have to be in the mood for it.
Although I don’t enjoy the task of cleaning windows, I do love it when they are all done! Then I get annoyed with the first rain that ruins all my hard work.😂
Ah, true
I hate cleaning windows because I can never get them streak free. Tips?
I use white vinegar for a sparkling shine, it works pretty well.
I have the same problem. Can never get all the streaks out.
Try the vinegar, it’s been effortless pretty much.
Just straight vinegar, nothing else?
I use a window cleaning squeegee and my moms window cleaner recipe which works better than any store bought product ever. 1/2 gallon water, 1 cup isopropyl alcohol, 1/4 cup ammonia and 1/2 teaspoon Dawn dish soap, if anyone’s interested.😁
Thank you — I will try this. I’ve been using Invisible Glass, which used to work really well, but increasingly leaves streaks. Drives me nuts, after I go to the trouble of cleaning all the downstairs, south-facing windows, to come inside and see streaks.
I will have to try the patchouli; it’s a winning house for me. I’m testing the vanilla now, and have got different results, so will have to get another sample and see which one was true.
I love their patchouli and REALLY love their Ylang Ylang.
Thanks, Calypso! I have their Ylang Ylang and love it as well.
It’s a beautiful weekend here, even tho it’s only 11 out, with a high wind. I’m house and dog sitting for a friend, and have views of the Atlantic ocean from all sides of the house. There’s a walking trail just above the house and the dog is sweet-he snuggled with me all night!
Wearing my sample of Heaven Can Wait. I think it’s great in the cool air. I know every scent can be worn in any season but I would be hard pressed to wear this if it was hot or humid out. It’s so spicy it makes my nose tickle if I bring my hand to my nose but from a few cm away it’s really nice.
Hope we all get some peace of mind this weekend-even if it’s just for a few minutes, while walking someone else’s dog 🙂
That view sounds amazing. Enjoy!
I’m jealous of your panoramic ocean view! But at least I have a snuggly dog. 🙂
That sounds like the best dog sitting gig ever!
I’m in De los Santos and wondering why I don’t wear it more often. It’s really easy to wear, although it doesn’t last long.
It’s beautiful today with sun and blue skies. It’s currently 72 degrees. This is my perfect weather. It was mid eighties a couple weeks ago and so I started thinking about hot weather perfumes. I thunked my bottle of Chanel Biarritz last summer and need something to fill that spot. Something refreshing when everything else feels like too much. I’ve been rereading BdJ’s article 10 perfect summer colognes and getting ready to order some samples. What are your favorites in the heat of summer?
Freebie alert: Estée Lauder legacy collection discovery set plus the new FM Acne Studios. Dibs and email me p k wis dom (one word) in the yahooland.
Happy Saturday.😎
I would love to try it then pass it on to another NSTr?
That’s a great idea!
Yeah on another website, we used to do sample passes. Where someone sends samples out, a person gets them, tries them, then they send it out to the next person and so on. Would have like five or so ppl trying the same samples and share their thoughts on them. Pretty fun:)
I still love Orange Sanguine for summer. I thunked my Eau de Soliel Blanc last year, and need to replace it. I want something similar but not the same.
That’s a nice one
Orange Sanguine, I always forget about that one! I went through a sample a few years ago.
I still have my travel spray of Eau de Soleil Blanc. You’ll have to report back on what you replace it with.
Another good one for the heat of summer is O de Lancome.
I love that one
Agreed.
I’m going to check my Lancôme counter the next time I’m at Macys!
Second O de Lancôme and add Eau de Guerlain and Eau de Rochas.
Eau de Guerlain was on the list of 10 I was reading. Sounds like I need to try it!
I keep Clairns Eau Dynamistante in the fridge for summer spritzing.
Gonna give this a sniff also the next time I’m in Macys!
Some from memory and some from looking at what I wore last summer:
Guerlain Eau de Cologne Imperiale – got it in a swap and keep it in the fridge for hot days
4711 Acqua Colonia Lemon & Ginger (another I keep in the fridge) and White Peach & Coriander
See if you can find a sample set of Claus Porto Agua de Colonia line. I find them to be very good colognes.
Hermes Neroli Dore and Un Jardin Apres la Mousson
Bath & Body Works White Tea & Ginger (nostalgia for me plus I think it’s quite similar to Neroli Outrenoir) and Coconut Lime Verbena (more nostalgia, had to go to eBay for this one)
Wearing Guerlain My Insolence over top of C&E Almond lotion.
That sounds so nice Gail!
Today’s task is getting my winter coats out of the storage cupboard and putting away summer dresses. Because I love sewing so much, I have way too many clothes for every season, so it’s a big job.
Right now, I can still smell last night’s perfume on my clothes, it’s Babylon from the Penhaligon’s Trade Routes sample set. I like all eight of the set, but none grab me enough to buy a FB. That’s a good thing!
Gaynor, I would think if I made the clothes the seasonal shift would feel more satisfying? Looking over all my work? Instead I see that I have way too many clothes and tsk at myself over the wasted money…
Keeping the FREEBIE vibe going:

You got it!
Thank you!
Dibs on #1, the Riviera, if it’s still available.
It’s yours!
wonderful – thank you!
whoops wrong place!
Thanks!
Hi, if #2, the Drôle dR is still available, I am interested.
Yep! It’s yours!
Today I wore Peach Blossom. violet, and vanilla from Dame. It was a toss up between that and Prada Infusion Iris. I may wear that tomorrow. Very warm over in these parts. and then the temps will take a bit of a nosedive to more “normal” temps later this week. I love summer, but it just got too hot too soon.
It has been up & down here temp wise, but we have had a few unusually hot days for May. I love summer too but it is less fun than it used to be.
I put on a small dab of Alliage the original and wow I’d forgotten, this is one musky green oaky chypre bomb.
That sounds delightful!
It’s the bomb! 💚
My mom wore Aliage in the 70s and my aunt wore Azuree. Love those deep green heavyweights.
I’m off today and tomorrow but will be working Monday. We don’t really do anything special for the holiday.
Today I wore bbw body spray called Vacation Vibes, or something. It is similar to the original Sol de Janeiro body spray.
At least you got the “regular” weekend off. 🙌🏻
True. I am not complaining. I will still get another regular day off too.
Oh sorry if it came off that way! 😳 I think my DH has rubbed off on me, since he’s the world’s biggest “look at the bright side” guy.
Oh no I didn’t take it that way! Not at all!🙂
Oh good!
I had an EXTREMELY lazy day today–think I’m worn out emotionally from jury duty. It was intense. I wore my comfort food scent today, Hilde Soliani Orgasmo. I did go out to a nice Italian restaurant for dinner with a friend to catch up on things.
Has anyone been tempted by the new line(s) at Fumerie? I’m on their mailing list and the sample set of 12 for $60 from the new line Binet-Papillon is calling my name….Anybody tried any of them yet?
I was tempted by that set too, but it’s already sold out. It’s probably for the best as I have too much perfume and don’t need to crave any $265 bottles.
I’m glad you got to have a nice meal with a friend after your intense jury duty experience. I’m really interested in trying that Hilde Soliani perfume after seeing your description and enjoyment of it.
Wearing PdE Tabac Tabou for the last really sunny day before a string of rainy ones. After the rain passes I *must* wash my windows. Ugh.
Ok, does everyone wash their windows but me? I wish I would wash my windows but i never do. And I am generally a neat person, I promise.
I often contemplate washing my windows. But actually wash them? Not so much…
Not a washer of windows either.
Glad I am not the only one. But now I am giving my filthy windows the side eye.
There was no space left to answer in a previous thread, so I’m doing it here, yes straight up vinegar, the clear kind, I think malt is mine.
Using LeLabo Ambrette 9 for palette cleanse today.
I think I have found my kryptonite for perfume. I had previously avoided sandalwood scents but noted that a few of my new-found loves (Gypsy Water, Nothing But Sea and Sky) have sandalwood and I like the note they have, a soft, creamy wood. So I bought a dupe roll-on oil of GW to see if it could boost the performance. Man, the dupe I got has a harsh sandalwood note I hate. I was up at 1 AM wiping myself down with alcohol, as it woke me up from my sleep after I had tested a tiny amount on my wrist after my shower.
Maybe the newer sandalwood note is javanol and the older sandalwood note in the dupe is some other nasty stuff I always hated?
The note is so potent that I could smell it in the packaging I put in my recycling. Yikes!
We are huddled in our house with a failing air conditioner, hoping it limps along until Tuesday when the holiday weekend is over. But realistically, it may be a while until we get a good unit again. Ugh!
Failing air conditioner twins with you! And have you tried Tam Dao (the EDT, not the EDP) for sandalwood? On me it’s very soft but yet very “present”.
I think I have but not sure since Diptyque always messes me up with their EDT/EDP and somehow the counter seems to be missing one or the other. I may revisit.
I might have sandalwood olfactory trauma for a while after that horrible dupe.
I’ll second Tam Dao in the edt. One of my desert island picks.
If you liked Gypsy Water, you may like Tocca Colette which often gets compared to it. I love Gypsy water too, but it lasts such a short time on me.
I do need to try Colette sometime.
Sunday morning, and I’m in my first wearing of the year of Le Temps d’Une Fête. My gosh, this is so beautiful.
It’s so nice to pull something out for the first time in the year, isn’t it?
I stopped at Ulta and tested out these new perfumes by Bella Hadid. I actually feel bad for her that someone talked her into putting her name on this gimmicky crap. The bottles are cheap looking and the testers already had cracks in the caps. They had a sign that warned against spraying on clothes because they are oil based. You are supposed to shake them before spraying which I did. I got some milky gross spurt of oil on my hand that I blotted with a tissue. There were 3 different scents. They did smell “bad” but they didn’t smell like perfume.
Having a smell does not equal perfume! Lol.
Sounds terrible! Thanks for taking one for the team!😉😅
Ugh!
Oof!
Bella was on the Drew show a couple weeks ago promoting her new fragrances; they were both waxing poetic about them, but I remained skeptical. Now we all know for sure, thanks to you!
I really wanted to like them too. One of the 3 has an orange smell, which was pleasant. The delivery system was still awful though.
Adding that maybe people that like oils might like this? Idk.
Bleah! Hard pass.
I’m wearing Ysatis from the Swapmeet today. It’s less forceful than I expected, but very pretty.
I was rummaging through my shoebox of beauty odds and ends and found a tiny tube of Lelong Body Cream. It’s lovely! There is some luster in the formulation and my legs look slightly shimmery. Naturally I looked for more, only to find that it is discontinued and going for big bucks on Ebay, so I will enjoy what I have and then let it go.
Best time to find it then, money saved!
SOTDY = Parfum Satori Satori
SOTD = and Bean
Both beautiful. I may have bought two more and fragrance perfume bottles (I know, low buy …).
I went to a couple’s “going back to Seattle” party and had a great time with friends and family. One of the young ones started at B of A recently and just got placed. I don’t think he’s happy even though he’s was trying to convince us he is. The guy got married in 2019 and I am not so sure his marriage is going well. He also kept talking about wanting to have a job with a little bit of danger. When I asked further what he meant by it, he finally said if you don’t experience a little bit of danger, you are just a bunch of molecules taking up space. 🤔
Finally, another gift article on Medicare Advantage. No judgment, just passing along —
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/25/science/medicare-seniors-authorization.html?unlocked_article_code=1.u00.H5m6.N57ruMmcTxFR&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
Yeah, I don’t know about danger at B of A. In my experience, danger at a bank means taking extra risk on a loan…which there are usually controls in place to stop. 😀 But if he’s in Seattle he can jump to a tech job easily enough…that should satisfy his danger craving!
He is actually living in Jersey City; his aunt and uncle are the ones traveling back to Seattle. This guy was in the marines and continues on as a reservist even though he is considered 100% disabled through some calculation. His idea of living a little dangerously is he applied to be one of the parachutists at an event in Normandy. He is still waiting to hear back but seriously, he has to be at least a little kooky to apply to do something which landed him as disabled.
If finance is exciting, you’re doing it wrong. 😉
So very true!
Trudat!
Not sure why I waited so long to finally post my split (Parfum d’Empire UN BEL AMOUR D’ÉTÉ) but I just did in case anyone is interested😊
I wore Dzongkha today because my sister came for dinner and looked forlorned as she handed me an empty sample of Dzongkha I’d given her. I promptly made her a decant and reminded myself how good this is while I was at it😋
How nice of you to share. You and your sister must have the same good taste!
PSA: Trader Joe’s has a dupe for the original Sol de Janeiro scent. TJs calls it Brazil Nut and they have body wash, body cream, body scrub, and a candle. I found the scent to be very similar, but about 75% as intense as SdJ (which I actually prefer)
I was gifted the body butter and shower gel. I like the consistency of the body butter more than the original. I also prefer less intensity.
Sol de Janeiro’s body butter is great for dealing with the mid-winter blues. And the frigid temps that contribute to said blues.
Monday, and Memorial Day and the start of summer. We’ve had a bunch of thunderstorms since yesterday afternoon and the north wind feels more like fall than summer.
I think Chanel No 5 L’Eau will be my most worn scent this summer. Lillyjo got me started with a decant and I found a partial bottle online at a great price so that’s my sotd.
Enjoy the day, everyone!
Glad you found a good deal! It really is so easy to wear.
I was in the warning area yesterday but it went around me. I saw it was pretty bad elsewhere though. Today is just gloomy. I hope you have a good day!
Yay for finding a partial bottle of No. 5 L’Eau!
I heard of severe storms in the US. I hope all US NSTers are safe.
Today I am testing Diptyque Eau Capitale. This is a well-made rose patchouli scent. My only issue with it is that this is a very popular note combo, so it might be too similar to some other scents. POAL obviously both reigns and transcends this genre, but I also thought of Midnight Poison. Both POAL and MP, however, are darker scents. What makes Eau Capitale interesting is that it is brighter than and not so earthy as your typical rose patchouli. The emphasis is more on rose and bergamot.
I can’t say I immediately fell in love with this perfume, but I am enjoying this sample.
Thank you for the mini-review, and for your ideas on the indeed very popular rose and patch combo.
Sounds like Eau Capitale could be worth sniffing for me. I tend to amp up patchouli in perfumes; the rose note in Midnight Poison is non-existent for me.
Doing some leftover work to finish out the month for today and tomorrow and then off rest of the week. And I have been forbidden to used the stovetop or oven due to the sputtering AC – oh well, guess some take out in store this week, or crockpot cooking. I am not looking forward to summer at all.
I am wearing Solinotes Tonka and for a cheapie grocery store purchase this stuff is pretty good.
No oven *or* stovetop?!? I’m so sorry! Would that mean no microwave or toaster oven as well? 😫
I went to try a couple of the Solinotes again at Target, but they were gone. Harumph.
It seems like the whole perfume selection was gone!
Pretty much!
Really? Oh wow.
Tons of wind and rain this morning, but it seems to have calmed down for a while. Hopefully I can get the dog out between squalls. Wearing Mademoiselle Guerlain today.
Hope that you and Mila got a decent walk in. (Accidentally typed in “decant walk” the first time and Spellcheck didn’t say a thing!)
We did get out for a nice walk, thanks! Still windy but no rain this morning, hoping for similar good luck today. 🙂
Started the day with hike in the canyons; the pup and I appreciated the fog and cool air.
Wearing a “vintage,” discontinued Pierre Cardin fragrance this morning: “Bleu Marine De Cardin.” From what I’ve read, this came out in 1986. Despite its aquatic sounding name, it’s a classic leather, moss, citrus combo that was common in a lot of “masculine” perfumes of the era. Gotta say, this one is pretty darn good.
Confusingly, Pierre Cardin later renamed it “Bleu Marine Pour Lui,” and changed the fragrance entirely to (you guessed it) a generic fresh aquatic in the “Cool Water” vein.
A hike in the canyons is perfect for Memorial Day! I envy your fog and cool air, we got none of that 🙂
Today on Memorial Day I am remembering my WW2 vet grandfather, who once told me a story about how he and a fellow soldier risked their lives in order to smuggle a horse, which was old and probably would’ve been destroyed, to a sympathetic German farmer who offered to take the horse to live out its life in peaceful retirement. According to him, it was done peacefully on both sides with an understanding that some things were more important then taking up guns at each other. I had always looked at my grandad a bit differently in his remaining years after that story.
SOTD: Persian Rose (later). Happy Memorial Day, everyone! 🙂
What a great story! Very uplifting.
Thank you for the story, and a Thank you to your Grandfather for his service.
I love this story so much, humanity even in war.
What a lovely story, thank you.
Wonderful story, GateGirl, thanks!
Persian Rose is such a nice one.
Thank you for that wonderful story!
Made my first Door Dash order today. Found a gift card that one of my friends gifted me a couple years ago. I never thought I would have used it. I find that grocery or restaurants delivery has always been so expensive. But might as well get rid of it. Wearing Coco Mademoiselle today. I was thinking about Courtesan but wasn’t really in the mood for something so fruity.
I’ve never done door dash or Uber eats. I haven’t even had a pizza delivered in years. Lol. I don’t want to pay the fees. ( I also don’t want extra people handling my food)
It’s cool here today. The weather people said this is the coolest Memorial Day here since 2013. It makes me nervous because that winter was the worst winter I have ever seen. (Yes, I’m already thinking about it. Lol)
Anyway.. I am wearing Prada Infusion d’Amande for work today.
I am giving Thanks to all who served and sacrificed on this Memorial Day.
I had lunch with some relatives and we were just talking about how many had served. Counting only the paternal side, definitely my nephew in the Navy, none in my generation (unless you count my brother who did his residency at the NIH), and an uncle although none of us had a clue as to where he served.
Thank you for your family’s service hajusuuri.
Warmer weather might be headed your way soon.
Happy Monday to most of you, and happy Tuesday to those in my part of the world.
I’m wearing 24 Faubourg today, it’s going to be very busy at work, and I need a fabulous perfume to fortify me for that.
24 Faubourg is definitely fabulous!
GateGirl just reminded me of my father, who was stationed in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. He never spoke about, as far as I remember. My mother related one thing he told her: they had lifelines strung between buildings (tents?) for the men to hold onto so that they didn’t get swept away during storms. Makes me shiver thinking about it.
Today, I’m continuing my way through Pd’E with Equistrius. The opening was hard for me to decipher. Soon the violet and powder came in, but meekly. This one gets a pass.
I spent a summer in Cold Bay in the Aleutians and can testify first hand about the crazy wind!
You did? Wow, I would love to hear that story!
Thank you to your Father for his Service AnnE.
Thank you, lillyjo. That’s very nice of you. ❤️
An absolutely gorgeous sunny day here for Memorial Day. The Colorado Air National Guard did flyovers at several locations across the state, including the cemetery where my parents are buried.
Taps makes me tear up every time I hear it.
Have had relatives on both sides serve in the military. No one was killed in action, but I think one of my uncles was injured. So I think about how fortunate my family was.
“All gave some, but some gave all.”
SOTD = TM Angel EdP. I’ve never been afraid to wear this in summer weather. Right now, I am getting plenty of patchouli, with a hint of something sweet. The metholated edge really showed up today.
I love the quote Jalapeno.
You smell wonderful!
Thanks lillyjo!
Both my parents served in the Navy, though they did not talk about it too much. My Dad did do a lot of work for the local USO in later years. SotD Aromatics Elixir edt. I’ve been pushing my daily step count goal up so little Fitbit will buzz and nag me. 🙂 I was at 10,500 for years. As I’ve worked outside more this Summer, I found I was getting more steps in, so I raised the goal to 14,000. Though Mr. Mossy’s new diet and exercise program made our together-walks longer, 14,000 was too much. This week I set the goal for 12,000. We shall see.
Good luck! 👍🏻
Smelling great today!
