It's Tuesday, World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development and World Meditation Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm commando for a doctor appointment later this morning. Tea at the moment is Kusmi Anastasia.
Reminder: 5/24 is International Tiara Day aka Queen Victoria's birthday. Wear your perfume equivalent of a tiara.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Queen Victoria Teapot from Herend ("Dating back to the 19th century, the Queen Victoria Dinnerware was awarded the prestigious Jury's First Prize at the 1851 World Fair in London. The dinnerware became synonymous with regal splendor and was named after Queen Victoria of England who ordered this tableware pattern for one of her palaces") is C$752.00 at William Ashley in Canada.
Another pretty teapot.
I am wearing Cartier Baiser Vole. Cartier made Cartier Halo Scroll Tiara
for Queen Elizabeth (later worn by Kate). Also, it is a lily perfume – fleur-de-lys – French royalty.
Perfect match! We are all going to learn about tiaras this week.
Today I’m bustling around doing household chores (3 loads of laundry, vacuuming and dusting, deep-cleaning the bathroom, all the greatest hits) in Old Spice, because I can never get enough carnations.
Wow. If you can accomplish all that, I should be able to clean/organize my office space. Thanks for the proverbial kick in the pants.š (And I need to revisit Old Spice soon!)
Old Spice is very good to this carnation-lover, too.
Iām in Dear Polly for teapot Tuesday.
I canāt believe next Monday is Memorial Day already. That kind of snuck up on me and now I feel like May is zipping by.
Weāve been on a roll for 3 nights in a row of watching movies set between 1978-1981 and now Iām headed over to Spotify to make a killer playlist. š¤
What movies?
Everybody Wants Some, Wet Hot American Summer and Detroit Rock City.š¤£ Weāve been in the mood for some mindless entertainment. All great soundtracks!
Memorial Day snuck up on me this year too.
Hello.
Sotd is Kilian Rolling in Love. The vanilla is very pronounced today and I am loving it.
I try to do a bit of meditation before my yoga exercises but sometimes I just can’t seem to calm my mind down and when I tell myself to chill, it gets worse, lol.
I know just what you mean! I put on mantra music to counter that…my favorite, because the sound is constant and makes it hard for the mind to wander…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Uzw9h-WPyQ
(Apologies if this is a repeat for you, I know I”ve posted this before. I have been listening to this for so many years that just the opening om makes me sit up straighter and slow my breath…)
Thank you! It will be played starting tomorrow. š
Iām taking the pup to the vet for a checkup, where all the dogs and cats will get a whiff of my Arpege Pour Homme from Lanvin. Maybe it isnāt a true classic, but itās pretty darn good, and much better than most current āmasculineā releases.
My doggo loves the smell of perfumes. Everytime I extend my arm for her to sniff, she would do it and look up at me with a grin on her face and tail wagging.
A perfect perfume pup!
I was poking around the Sephora website. I have always taken a look at the Prada offerings and never saw the Infusion line on their website until today but I hardly am ever on the Sephora website, let alone buy anything. Naturally, I had to get the Infusion d’Iris travel spray. Wearing Infusion d’Iris today.
Oh yay for travel sprays!
Hmmm, tiara day, will need to think on that. Today itās Pacifica French Lilac, to blend with the fresh lilacs blooming outside.
Lovely…I will miss the lilacs.
SOTM is MFK Aqua Celestia. I have no idea why ā itās supposed to be chilly here all day, and ordinarily I go with warmer scents on a cool day. Iām enjoying it anyway, in a sweater and pashmina. š¤Ŗ
Chilly weather twins with you today. There’s even a Frost Advisory for tonight!
Wearing Shalimar Millesime Iris to give me comfort while I am drinking 4 bottles of contrast for an MRI that I have in 30 minutes. I have been dealing with some health issues lately, and I hope things get resolved soon. I have been fasting since last night, so I am just looking forward to grabbing my first cup of coffee of the day on my way to work later and a chicken salad or sandwich for lunch. I am really starving and barely keeping my eyes open! āļø
We are having a good week with temperatures in the upper 70s and partly sunny skies. Some rain is also in the forecast by the end of the weekend. Counting the days for the long holiday weekend.
Happy Tuesday! š»
I hope your health issues can be treated relatively easy. As somebody on long term meds, it can be quite troublesome. Sending well wishes your way! š
Thank you, happy888cat! I hope I can get answers soon, and that it is nothing as complicated as it seems to be.
Sounds dreadful, hope itās over soon with good results!
Thank you, Cazaubon! I hope so, too!
Good luck with the tests! I hope you get coffee soon!
Thank you, Lillyjo! I am on my second cup already! āļøāļø
I hope everything goes well! Enjoy your first coffee and meal afterwards!
Thank you, Tulipani. Lunch and coffee was a life saver on a busy day like today! š
Oy! Hope all goes well!
Thank you, Hajusuuri!
Good luck! I hope it all goes well. You smell great!
Thank you, Vee!
Hope you have good results and something to eat soon!
Thank you, Ringthing! I am looking forward to getting results next week.
Hope it goes well, sending thoughts š¹
Enjoy the coffee and a good meal āļø š„Ŗ
Thank you, OMEGA! š»
Sorry, I don’t know how your name change all to capital letters.
Sending good wishes and outcomes for the MRI, perfumelover67
Thank you, DeniseH!
Wishing you the bestš for the test results.
Thank you, Aurora! š»
I am joining you in Shalimar MI as it is a little cooler here today. We are in a tornado watch today so hopefully nothing develops. It rained all night and this morning.
Good luck with your tests. Let us know what you find out.
Thank you, Kris. I will keep you guys posted.
I hope the weather improves for you there, and no tornadoes develop. Fingers crossed! š¤š»
Adding my good thoughts for a favorable outcome. You smell great today!
Thank you, Gail!
I hope that all goes well and that your health issues are sorted out.
Thank you, Gaynor!
Sending hugs and plentiful sustenance for later today, PL67!š¤
Thank you, She-ra! š»
How stressful. Wishing you calm while you wait for the results. And hope it proves to be something easy to resolve.
Thank you, Spiderplant!
Praying for it.
Hope it went well, PL67!
It did! Thanks LizzieB!
Yay.
š
Stopping by late to say glad it went well, hope the results are good and definitive, and that you smell wonderful. Coffee and a MI scent bubble are a great reward for getting through medical stuff!
Thank you MossyBerry!
Coffee and MI was a wonderful combo!
Even later than MossyBerry, heh. Pleased to hear that your MRI went well, and hoping the results are good too.
Thank you, Jalapeno!
Spring is my favourite season, all trees blooming in my neighborhood, lilacs, cherry blossoms ā¦..
I am getting ready for my trip to Paris next week, traveling with three friends, planning lots of sniffing and visitingā¦..
I am wearing SMN Iris.
Lucky you, have fun!
Have a great time!
Have a lovely trip, Hera!
Wonderful! Have a fabulous time.
Yay for Parisian sniffing! Please post and keep us informed on what you try!
Woo hoo! Have a great time.
Awesome! Enjoy everything that you can!
I read ‘tiara’ as tiare so was planning to get out my enigmatic Tahitian fragrance Eau de Tiare Reva de Tahiti from the 90s that reminds me of Tubereuse Criminelle & that Black Narcissus wrote so eloquently about.
But I am more drawn to testing some new Comptoir Sud Pacifique decants that a generous NSTer sent me in the swapmeet that I first read about here (Amour de Cacao and Vanille Cafe. ) The CSPs are often too sweet for me (with some exceptions) but your raves have piqued my curiosity!
I was thinking of the tiare route too! Alas that I have finished my bottle of OJ Tiare, so will need to give some thought about which are my most regal perfumes. They sound beyond my usual Rich Lady, working for the fun of it scents.
Tiare still sounds like a good plan to me. Otherwise, I will have to ponder what a “tiara” perfume would be.
Good morning š
I am wearing Chanel Chance Eau Tendre today
Happy Tuesday
Happy Tuesday Barqs!
You smell lovely.
Best of the Chances, IMO. You smell good.
I would agree with LizzieB, Barqs. You smell lovely!
Xocatel or however you spell it
Beautiful day today
Really enjoying this books by Slimani, better than in the country of othersā¦
So glad you love your books! I am having so much fun with Javier Marias, it is wonderful to get totally drawn into a particular author.
I’m wearing Irisss this morning. I have a tiara so I figure on Friday I can wear any perfume + tiara and fulfill the CP š
An update on the long-lost half-sister story: My full sister talked to her and here’s what happened-
In 1941, my mother met a serviceman “Harry” at the munitions plant where she was working. She fell in love with him. At the end of 1942, he was transferred to California and shortly thereafter she discovered she was pregnant. When she told him, his response was essentially, “Not my problem.” At the prenatal clinic she attended, a nurse knew of a couple who wanted a child but couldn’t conceive, so a private adoption was arranged and she had the baby in August 1943. In June 1944, she marries “Tom” but the marriage only lasts about a year and then they divorce. In 1950 she marries my father. Sometime in the early 90s my half-sister contacts a family member to get some medical history and she and my mother meet just the one time.
No one in my family ever mentions the pregnancy, the first marriage, or the subsequent divorce. It’s like a soap opera plot.
Sounds a lot like portions of my family. When one of my nieces did a school report on her ancestry, she prefaced her presentation with something like āthis is going to get complicatedā¦ā. š
Wow! My dad and uncle were adopted and when my uncle learned about his biological parents it was also a complicated web. Foxbins, I hope you and everyone involved are doing OK as you process all this new information.
Wishing you all good luck, as you sort it all out-hopefully there will be some resolutions for all of you. Family secrets are incredible.
That is quite a novel, foxbins. An unintended one.
Wowza! Foxbins, what a shockerā¦I was able to read about this when you first posted but of course, rarely have service to get a follow-up. I hope you are finding your feet over this.
I hope you are doing ok with all this new information. My Mother’s family has a similar soap opera and I know it was hard on the siblings.
I am sad to hear of these episodes where people’s emotions surely were in great turmoil, and I am sure it’s not easy for you to hear all this at such a late date. Truly, I feel for your mother, and wonder how she got through these many difficult parts of her life. I do also hope that you are able to talk with some other members of your family to try to discuss and come to terms with these astonishing new pieces of information.
Wow. Your mother must have been a very strong person.
I think there are a surprising number of families with long held secrets. My own extended family has some drama of children born and adopted, even a case where a child was raised as a sibling to his teenage mother. And it speaks to the resilience of people that they seem to come through the trauma. Also interesting that genetic databases are uncovering relationships that would have gone undiscovered.
Wow. I missed the original post about a half sister. Quite a story!
Dang. That’s quite the saga, to put it mildly. Hope you and your sister are coming to terms with the info.
I hope all the sisters are coming to terms with it…it must be quite a shock to everyone. Did the half sister even know about you and your full sister?
Yes, she did. It kind of gives me the creeps how much information she gathered about us. Like having a stalker, but without malevolent intent.
I’m wearing Guidance for a day in the office. I know it’s a strong and polarizing one, but I find a little dab from my luckyscent sample vial is strong enough for me to smell but not strong enough for anyone else to notice! And the pink Guidance bottle screams princess tiara to me.
Guidance sure is popular with fragrance youtube. People either love it or hate it.
I got a sample set which included Guidance and I quite liked it. I think it is a princess-worthy scent!
I am in Rania J SHAH’RYAR. I bought it on a while at Fumerie on a lovely visit this fall. The man suggested it when I asked him to show me things I might not be able to find elsewhere. It is strong for me, I try to do a half spray if I can.
I took a class once and made a beaded tiara. each leaf had something like 36 seed beds and the total over all was 1400 seed beads. I made my class do the multiplication the day after the class. I wish I could post a picture it is very vintage looking. I wear it as a princess about every five years as I am a teacher and we have a costume parade each Halloween. I have 5 regular costumes as by then the kids who have seen the costume have moved on to middle school and I can repeat it again.
Your tiara sounds beautiful!
Such an accomplishment.
How cool that you made your own tiara!
I’m in a couple of sprays of Goutal’s Ninfeo Mio because it is office safe, but my allergies are raging, so I can barely smell it myself. I usually only have Fall allergies; this Springtime attack took me by surprise.
Today’s teapot is delightful! I’m drinking my office standby of Twinings English Breakfast. Luckily it is strong enough that I can kind of smell it. š
I love your SOTD š I have the pretty green frosted bottle, too. I loved all the AG special issue bottles.
ooh, I’m jelly. Mine is in the newer goutal bottle which is not nearly as pretty as yours
Such a great one. Forest canopy in spring. You smell marvelous, Vee
Thanks Denise! Hopefully my co-workers agree š
Ugh, sorry to hear that allergies are kicking up for you this Spring.
Ninfeo Mio is a wonderful warm weather scent! The boxwood note in it is very true to life.
Back in the office after the conference week, in some Bouquet Ideale by Xerjoff/Casamorati. Pretty and warming on an utter soaker of a day.
Keep dry.
It’s the first day we’re above 20 degrees C here, and it’s sunny, so I’m in Cologne Bigarade. I love this scent and I have no issues with lasting power.
I wonder if, after FM has left Estee Lauder, do I need to worry about the quality or availablity of this line. I think EL does a pretty good job of managing its stable. Think I’m looking for an excuse to buy Heaven Can Wait. From my sample, I think the Caron it’s referring to is Coup de Fouet, but that’s just a guess on my part.
I was worried about FM too, so I was thinking about getting a BUB of Iris Poudre.
I am worried too, I am expecting changes , i am sure it wonāt be the same without FM.
The teapot is lovely.
Wearing Un Jardin Sur le Nil on another hot day, it’s like July here. Cooling off a little by the weekend.
Was nearly July here today too…
Hello!
Burberry Brit Rhythm for Her.
The pool was nice, was mild enough that we could spend a good amount of time outside without getting overheated. We also went to dinner and had some tasty Mexican food. Nothing like fresh guacamole:)
Hope all goes well at the appointment, Robin.
Happy Teapot Tues! That butterfly on the lid, love that.
Brit Rhythm for Her had the first lavender note that I liked in perfume.
I think Rhythm is a sexy scent.
Everything went just fine, thanks! I’m sure I would have preferred the pool though š
Frozen raspberries, apple and yogurt smoothie
Oh, heritage teapot, very nice, hope the medical appointment is routine, Robin.
Working on NicolaĆÆ samples again, Number One intense which is a nice floral with welcomed green aspects, quite classical in style but the drydown, is lackluster imo. Tonight I am wearing Lush Shade, a gentle woody perfume.
Yep, just boring routine, thanks!
I did not love Number One, not sure I ever tried the Intense version though.
Oh good, routine medical visits are the best, from this testing of No 1 intense I would say you’re not missing anything
SOTD is Kyoto in Bloom by Glasshouse. My Rose candle came and itās lovely. Itās a gentle warm musky rose and definitely not a potpourri type rose, thankfully!
A bomb is about to explode in my little work world. Itās like Peyton Place x 1000 and involves missing money and a safe that got busted into. Who would have thought? I did meet a very nice fellow host and we hit it off immediately. Sadly we are working in far flung campgrounds, but plan on meeting up on our days off. Jeez, so nice to meet a rational, sensible, kind person as I travel about.
Now apparently I am getting a StarLink, I just donāt know whenā¦š
It sounds very mysterious. Glad your candle is a success.
Very mysterious and I only found out about it because I was talking with my bossās boss. The culprit is yet to be caught, and people have been shifted hither and yonā¦š¤
And here it sounded in the beginning like your boss was going to be great! Things changed. Hope you find some joy out there. Maybe with the fellow host there will be some fun.
I associate Glasshouse with candles. What are their fragrances like?
Oh, Iām having a great time despite all the insanity.
I have two by Glasshouse as a travel size if free with purchase of a candle. The one Iām wearing today is a soft floral with a gauzy, musky dry down. Theyāre very simple, but also very wearable and inoffensive to those who find offense with just about everything! š¤£
Thieves are everywhere!
What is starlink? Some sort of tracking device?
No, it a device through which you can connect to the internet via satellite instead of via Wi-Fi or being hardwired.
Woohoo on the Starlink! Can you make it secure?
Those Glasshouse candles have been tempting, but so far I have resisted. Partly because I have a bunch of other ones sitting around at present.
A number of folks in our area have STARLINK. We live in one of those areas where high-speed internet isnāt widely available. They are very happy with it.
Gosh Deva…drama everywhere!!
So glad the candle worked out.
It’s definitely coat and boots weather here, more suitable for a hefty crown than a delicate tiara.
I’m breaking out one of my winter favourites for the first time this year – Chambre Noire from Olfactive Studio,
Feel free to adjust the cp to your weather š
85 degrees here with storms coming tonight.
I had breakfast with my Aunt today and a meeting for my daughter this afternoon. I am wearing Ouai Melrose Place. It’s an inoffensive shampoo like scent. My goal is to thunk it this summer.
It’s interesting how as Perfume lovers and collectors we can go from hoarding one minute to trying to thunk or remove the next with really no rhyme or reason.
I hope the storms aren’t too bad, since they’re arriving at night when it’s not as hot. Eye to the sky!
Hopefully the lake will weaken it by time it gets here. (2a.m!)
I had to laugh at your hoarding and thunking statement. That is definitely me.
It’s so true though! We are a fickle bunch.
“Oooooooh, shiny!” could be a secondary perfumista motto for sure.
Thanks for the brief review on Ouai Melrose Place. Sounds like I don’t have to chase a sample of it.
Hoping that nasty weather gives you a wide berth tonight!
It’s pretty but not too interesting.
Sampling Les Eaux Primordiales Iris Palladium today. I like it and notes below are from the brand…not sure I detect the mugwort. Ehaeheh š
Top notes are Lavender, Cardamom and Cilantro; middle notes are Iris, Mugwort and Violet; base notes are Sandalwood, Benzoin, Vanilla, Guaiac Wood, Amber and Cedar
What does mugwort smell like?
No idea on mugwort either ehaeheh I think some houses go overboard w/ notes. I don’t like when they list 3 notes but also don’t like when it’s 33. ehaeheh too few or too many š
SOTD = LāArtisan Parfumeur Dzing!
Wonderfully š©! Seriously š¤£!

I feel quite accomplished. My garbage bin doors were kaput and I asked the management company for a handyman recommendation. No response. I decided maybe I can fix it myself so I went to Loweās to get the hardware (hinges and screws). I tried to remove the screws but was only able to unscrew 3 (out of 21). So I texted again looking for someone with a power driller. No response. I considered buying a power drill but decided to do one last hurrah. After a good number of back and forths literally from the outside to the basement, I did it. It is by no means perfect but definitely serviceable! My last text on this topic? No need to text back!
More stories and/or rants over the next few days.
Hurray for your DIY success!
Nice job, how satisfying that must have been! I wonder if you’ll catch the DIY bug now, hee hee!
Go hajusuuri!
L’Artisan ThĆ© pour un ĆtĆ© for the too-hot-for-May weather. Closing in the on the end of this bottle, which makes me a bit sad. I’ve gone through multiples of this one over the years.
It’s definitely one of the great beauties!
Had some severe weather in Colorado last night. One small town by the Nebraska border was knee deep in hail! I’d never heard of anything like that when I was growing up here. Fortunately, the bad weather gave me a pass last night. Had some pea-sized hail here a few minutes ago. Lots of thunder before that showed up.
SOTD = commando, but wearing Korres Grecian Gardenia body butter on my shins. Very happy I got a 400mL bottle of it as a backup recently!
Body butter twins! That’s right you get an enabler pin!
I just have a small tube, but a little goes a long way. Your 400ml will last forever!
Whoo hoo, enabler loot! Thanks, lillyjo!
I will enjoy matching it to the Gardenia showergel I picked up earlier. š„°
Goodness! I hate summer hail.
Such a beautiful tea pot! My tea of the day was Smith Tea Maker’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Portland Breakfast. SotD Clair de Musc, which is the first musk I really fell in love with. I missed most of the weekend NST news due to various life events, but I saw some wonderful haiku verses. I’m going to catch up on comments starting today, and also pop over to the swap meet.
Hope that some of your weekend activities were good ones.
Thanks, Jalapeno! They were good: a neighborhood clean-up and lots of house and yard work to take advantage of the rented chipper, free-cycle meet, and finally the dumpster. š
Nice teapot but pricey. For the last 3 decades my āteapotā has been a 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup I heat in the microwave. I guess I am more of a minimalist but I also love watching the water color from the tea.
I wore Silky Woods today, craving a bit of vanilla comfort without gourmand sweetness.
My IRL teapots are not quite that minimalist but they are not fancy either š
I was in Dior Homme Cologne and some EO lavender body lotion today. Very much not following the cp today, as the heat is getting to me already.
I have some feminine, āfrillyā fragrances Iāll bring out this week! šø
Hey, I am not planning on frilly! I think you can interpret the cp however you like.
Chamade EdT. Iām feeling the need for green lately. And pretty.
Definitely can tell Memorial Day is approachingā¦itās getting busy up here. And everyone is asking about all the detours and road construction. Some elderly women came into the market the other and launched into an angry tirade about it allā¦like we are responsible. Poor thing. Iām sure it was stressful for her. Butā¦weāve been living in this mess for 5 monthsā¦. I think Iām going to make a point to wear soothing, lovely scents going forward so at least I waft pleasantnessā¦
Definitely time to break out the calming potions!
Late but smelling good in today’s tiara perfume, Carnal Flower.
Perfect!
